It is always tax free weekend for me on amazon dot com.
    tech20059

Exactly. I guess the GOP wants everyone to have Amazon Prime and purchase items from out of state. At least the wealthier are getting their tax breaks?

Hey whatelseisnew - You can thank Obama and the ACA for your being able to get a more complete policy with richer benefits. Just because you aren't going through the exchange, you are still better off thanks to those rascally Democrats.

"If you need to fine a non-ACA plan, go to ehealth.com. At least that way you are only being gouged by the ACA taxes." -
    whatelseisnew

Thanks for the tip. I will look into this. It would be great to save another year before being raped by Obamacare. At least there is a chance something may happen during the year to change things...

"Another "cash for clunkers" scam. LOL."

The only thing "LOL" about it is your ignorance of the obvious difference between the government handing out money and the government letting you keep a little bit more of your own money.

If you are one of the people being victimized by ObamaCare there is an option. The plan I have for my spouse was eliminated by the ACA despite the repeated lies from Obama and the Dems. I just found out I can buy a policy that will start this year and the premium and policy benefits are locked in until December 2014. So I am transitioning insurance companies, buying this new policy and I will cancel the old policy that is disappearing at the end of the year anyway. The difference is instead of paying 438 dollars per month more than I am paying now, I will be paying 107 dollars a month more. So at least I avoid for almost another year being victimized by the Federal Government and all the selfish greedy people that could care less that others are losing their insurance while they the greedy selfish people get a nice fat subsidy. If you need to fine a non-ACA plan, go to ehealth.com. At least that way you are only being gouged by the ACA taxes.

Uh...you obviously don't realize you're legally obligated to pay tax on anything you buy that way....

it's called use tax, and it's a line item on the state tax form.

    junkmail5

If Tim Geitner doesn't py his taxes andObaa can nominate him to run the fed...then why should I have to report my online purchases to NC? Double standard much? I believe Obama has appointed at least 4 other tax cheats as well...AT LEAST!!!

"Too bad most new appliances don't last long so think carefully about replacing those old ones that are much cheaper to repair and maintain."

Too true. I have a Fridgedaire I bought in 1980. Never needed a repair and still going strong.

Or work less, and let Dear Leader and his gang take care of your needs. Once your in the subsidized class you don't need to worry.

I wonder why none of the real news stories on the front page today… Food stamps being cut today - Obamacare nightmares Or the numbers released of how many signed up for Osama care. I have seen more Powerball winners than the numbers signed up for this scary care. Or how insurance company's are being threatened if they talk to the press about the truth.

  • bill0 Nov 1, 2013

""Why aren't you complaining about Obamacare instead of complaining about losing $10""

Because obamacare, on average, gives huge subsidies to poor and middle class people. Repealing this law actually costs the middle class.

And really, the point of this tax break was to get people to replace their inefficient appliances with newer, more energy efficient models. That is really something every citizen should support. As a nation, we desperately need to use our energy sources more efficiently so we aren't beholden to 3rd world dictators and their oil reserves. This was a way to help without imposing taxes, or carbon cap, or any other government mandated restrictions.

  • Mo Blues Nov 1, 2013

Hey, road wearier, I agree wholeheartedly, but your tax break benefits all - ESPECIALLY the lower-middle class. Wait until you find out what your 'free' healthcare costs you in taxes and fees.

  • NcNativeRaleigh Nov 1, 2013

Finely the GOP legislature realized that this once a year tax haven was undeserving their GOP welfare entitlement minions who needed the money more. Now, with the GOP's help, these tax monies can go to serve the truly needy like fracking companies and ballot box disposal.

  • whatelseisnew Nov 1, 2013

"why are the democrats so mad? you've never seen a tax you don't like. "

Oh there are taxes they do not like. Taxes that THEY have to pay. Only the 1 percenters are supposed to pay for everything. In the meantime Dem Politicians are gutting them and they do not understand that in the least.

"I don't understand how this is one of WRAL's top stories while 100's of 1000's of NC residents that are getting letters saying their insurance is being dropped. Anything to cover a story up that is bad for Obama"

Arfamr, I caugt a report last night that people with current policies can get their insurance companies to extend them into 2014. I do not know if that is accurate, but I am getting hold of my insurance company today to find out.

The GOP can't let the middle class have a tax break.

Understatement of the Year! Don’t you think the drug dealers and no tax payers deserve more of a tax break? Just ridicules that we have any tax free weekend. Air conditioner? Really?

  • rushbot Nov 1, 2013

the regressives of the nc gop get a 2fer with the end of this program...they can continue their assault on the north carolina environment and energy conservation and divert the tax savings from the middle class and poor to the 1%ers!!!

  • Road-wearier Oct 31, 2013

Because heaven forbid you give a temporary tax break to the middle and lower class. The middle and lower classes are the monetary engine that drives this economy, not the self-deluding 1%.

I have been pricing an item I was going to buy. I am going to check to see if the price of this item goes up this weekend. Either way the purchase will not happen. I have to hang on to every penny I have because my spouse is losing health insurance at the end of the year.

Thank God. A very bad idea created by very broke and mismanaged states in the NE, brought to us by Jim Black and Mike Easily, authors of so many good things...... Too bad they are both not living in the big house on Western blvd......
