Obamacare for everyone - "Nauti-dog, have you heard his music? He's highly delusional and even seems to believe he's talented."

    Reminds me of Charles Manson.

He thought he was talented too.

He was a smooth talker, there's no denying, but as for his musical talent - pfffttt!!!

  • DontVote4LiarsCheatsOrThieves Aug 30, 2013

Anyone else seeing this guy as a delusional coward, blaming his new wife for all this?

I wonder what she thinks about that. Course, if she's as taken in by his delusions as he is, she may be willing to take the fall for something he did.

    What a shame!

    Especially for the wee children.

I pray they aren't with the woman who raised him, because from all accounts, she's just as egocentric and manipulative as he is.

  • HANS FOR PRESIDENT!!!!! JK Aug 30, 2013

I just can't get over the fact that he's smiling, winking, shaking hands in court when he's practically owned up to chopping her up after she was dead and disposing of her body. Even if they wife did it, and he helped her, I would think that attentive, respectful, remorseful behavior would suit the situation more

  • 678devilish Aug 30, 2013

This man played a major part in this woman death/murder and should absolutely see life in prison.

  • byrdface53 Aug 30, 2013

Come on....what a conartist---did grant hayes' wife force him to help her with this? truthfully?

    suzanne byrd

  • lakeyk1 Aug 30, 2013

Stories like this are getting to be more and more often, sadly comments are posted and the judicial system continues to fail us.Watching Grant Hayes enter into the Court Room as if he is at a Social function greeting and shaking hands of his attorneys.I can see through him and hope and pray the Juriors can.Hayes premeditated and set his plans of getting rid of Laura Ackerson by ways of calculating, controlling and winning sympathy from Amanda Hayes, setting her up to do the deed.Hayes is not trying to protect his wife,he knows that the law states a wife does not have to testify against her spouse.Whether she does or not, they BOTH ARE GUILTY!!! and should NOT have custody of the three children PERIOD!!!!!!!!!PLEASE Judicial System do not fail us.Both deserve the death penalty, but I know that will not happen.Until people get the message the Laws/Court Systems mean business, these horrible and deadly crimes will prevail....Winning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ashewing Aug 30, 2013

Rachel----your comment said it ALL!!! Where's the like button. I could not agree more. Enough said.

  • JustOneGodLessThanU Aug 30, 2013

My adult behavior is someone else's fault. Nice. Blame the victim. Sad.

This "you make me..." comment is the excuse of the immature and irresponsible...the mantra of wife beaters. It's the same reason that women are commanded to wear burkas...because the men can't be trusted, so the women must take responsibility for the men's inadequacies.

Not taking personal responsibility is sad and way too plentiful.

  • sjb2k1 Aug 30, 2013

he invited her over. he bought saws. he drove her to texas. he is just as much guilty of murder as his wife.

  • pappybigtuna1 Aug 30, 2013

can anyone understand the pre or post mortem conduct of these two, in my world this would be classic Satanic possession.

He did it, she did it, who cares they both did it. And they act like they did nothing wrong

  • bombayrunner Aug 30, 2013

so it pretty much comes down to ... ya'll killed her.

  • itsmyownopinion Aug 30, 2013

If NC doesn't get a satisfactory verdict, maybe he can be tried in Texas for disposing the body there. I'd like to see old sparky wipe that smirk off his face and light that white suit on fire, but that's not going to happen. The needle is too merciful; too bad they can't use a saw.

  • tigresspen Aug 30, 2013

Prosecutor needs to speak up. Can't hear her.

  • rachel Aug 30, 2013

this type of case chills the blood. Whether he murdered her or not-helping to chop up the body and traveling with it with the kids with parts in coolers? I have an ex-boyfriend or two I may not be fond of, but throwing back the ring and breaking up is as far as it goes. This is way outside the bounds of being a human. People who can do this are definitely missing some chips in the grey matter. Get him off the streets.

  • Jailyn09 Aug 30, 2013

I have know Grant for years, and have always thought him to be shady. I used to get into fights with my ex when ever he told me that he would be hanging out with Grant. The fights never ended well as I believed Grant to be a deplorable person with nothing but bad intentions. Fast forward to 2011... I'd like to think I was right. Don't by into his lies, he will do and say anything (including, but not limited to, framing his wife) to escape this unscathed.

  • tiggerbeth Aug 30, 2013

I think he's just trying to introduce "reasonable doubt" in the jurors minds by saying the wife did it. And then when her trial comes up, she'll blame him for the same reason. I doubt it will work though. I actually knew Grant once upon a time, and he was a psycopath then - no remorse, no conscience.

  • sweetlyght Aug 30, 2013

Ok, I might of bought it until he said she agreed to give himfull custody the same night she was murdered. Now, I think he's just a lier.

  • Jimmytwotimes Aug 30, 2013

Not murder...he just happen to purchase a saw before his ex wife was dismembered!? GUILTY AS CHARGED....a speedy trial and decision by the jurors.
    AirBorne Daddy

Actually for those who don't understand the law.....accessory after the fact is much different than 1st degree murder. If your child killed someone you might try to help them get away with it. doesn't mean you should be charged with 1st degree murder. Angry people, thank god they don't run our justice system.

  • Jimmytwotimes Aug 30, 2013

if this were being tried in Texas he would already be dead

extremely ignorant republican comment. Actually they have a justice system in Texas too. And actually NC has now become the hardcore state of the country with its crazy republican rule.

  • dontstopnow Aug 30, 2013

I do not care if he did not strike the death blow on Laura, he and his wife are BOTH guilty of murder and should get the needle. What animals they are! The children need to be taken away from that entire family, after all, his mother raised him so what does that tell us about her skills???

  • Deb1003 Aug 30, 2013

When is NC going to reinstate the death penalty? If ever a case deserves that punishment ... this one does!

  • tigresspen Aug 30, 2013

Obamacarefor life: YOu've mentioned GH only weighing 100 pounds. He certainly looked to weigh more than that back when Laura went missing and still does. He is muscular too. Laura was the petite one. He thinks he is Mr. Gentle Perfect Man(hence his son being called Gentle) . But in fact what he did is Evil.

  • tigresspen Aug 30, 2013

I lisentedto OS and the two witnesses yesterday and I don't believe all Grant did was help after Amanda killed Laura. Both witnesses came across as honest and truthful, they weren't throwing things out in wind as revenge. I think he was a larger part of her actual death. And the accessary after her death means he is just as responsible even if his story is true. He should go to prison for life at the least.

  • Obamacare rules Aug 29, 2013

I wish there was a 'like' button because I would be banging on it for jaredg's comment.

  • CraftyMo Aug 29, 2013

How he could be innocent? Why would an innocent person actually help cut up a body? He left the house and bought supplies to dispose of her body instead of calling police. I just can't imagine how someone would be able to do what they did to his ex-girlfriend's corpse. Horrible event which has ruined the lives of the innocent children.

  • djofraleigh Aug 29, 2013

Took the two of them whether I believe him or not, for he didn't stop the two women from being together and the custody battle was his. There seems to be some truth to the sound of his version, which is one to get him some time then parole.

  • jaredg Aug 29, 2013

if this were being tried in Texas he would already be dead

  • zenonx6 Aug 29, 2013

If you can't get along ,,, STAY AWAY FROM EACH OTHER !!!!!!

  • Obamacare for everyone Aug 29, 2013

At least he didn't blame an owl for the whole thing.

  • orangemoonlite Aug 29, 2013

    Of course he did...

  • jgilchr Aug 29, 2013

Was Ackerson murdered with the kids in the house?

  • NoObamaCare Aug 29, 2013

Not murder...he just happen to purchase a saw before his ex wife was dismembered!?
GUILTY AS CHARGED....a speedy trial and decision by the jurors.

  • Mr. Middle of the Road Aug 29, 2013

Figured they would rat on each other. Maybe you did not kill her dude, but dismembering her and putting her in a cooler and driving her to Texas is plenty heinous to get you life.

  • whiffer1 Aug 29, 2013

This guy is the "Coolest Cat" I've seen in some time. Strolls into the court room smiling and shaking hands with everyone like he is a celebrity. As the saying goes he is obviously a legend in his own mind. I am convinced he thinks he can charm his way out of this as he has done all his life.

  • VT1994Hokie Aug 29, 2013

Both are guilty. I hope that the Court doesn't waste much money and time on this case. Taxspayers are shelling out enough already.

  • sjb2k1 Aug 29, 2013

and then she blames it on him later

    they are both guilty

    the end.

  • cpdtg Aug 29, 2013

and who didn`t see that coming

  • ccandrews01 Aug 29, 2013

So, did the wife's sister know about the dismemberment and knew they were dumping the parts in the creek across the street? And he is blaming the murder on his wife? Sounds strange!

  • ArmyWife456 Aug 29, 2013

Are the children still with Hayes' mother?

  • jmrado47 Aug 29, 2013

I could definitely see the death penalty in this case because it was a heinous crime and it was premeditated.

  • jmrado47 Aug 29, 2013

Sounds like murder to me. I would give both of these people a life sentence without parole. The violent ones should be permanently removed from society. Justice has to be served.

  • outdoor592000 Aug 29, 2013

This is what the death penalty is for, in my opinion. Anyone that can do this to another human being, should be taken out of this world, as they are not human

  • 678devilish Aug 29, 2013

The woman involved in this murder should absolutely get life in prison without parole. Murder is murder with no exception!

  • YNCSW51 Aug 29, 2013

Interesting theory but I don't think this will fly the jurors are to smart to believe this.

  • 678devilish Aug 29, 2013

Think about this man and woman taking his childen mother away from them. Now they are mothertheless. How sad is that and over nothing, most likely. Pray for these kids.

  • philburn0303 Aug 29, 2013

And that is seriously his defense???

  • vrigg45071 Aug 29, 2013

Drive body parts 1200 miles across the country and then dump them in a creek across the street from the wife's sister. What a genius plot that was!

  • 678devilish Aug 29, 2013

A murderer would have to point at someone besides himself. I believe the courts will give this man life in prison without parole. Give her justice.

  • Lamborghini Mercy Aug 29, 2013

Even if he didn't kill the ex-girlfriend, he bought a saw which lead to her dismemberment and disposed the body. Any man willing to go that far is just as bad as the murderer.
