It's a foregone conclusion now isn't it? South Carolina looked tired early in this game. Spurrier was smart to keep it on the ground and run the clock. Those that have played and coached a little understand this.

  • VT1994Hokie Aug 29, 2013

It looks pretty much like a battle right now. USC has let up.

Intended to say "State vs South Carolina was a big deal."

I was a big deal, when Holz was coaching. stan fritz, ralph stringer, willie burden , the buckeys. SC lost a heart breaker in raleigh, having all but won it. fights broke out gamers were so mad.people had started leaving.good times

Someone at the office asked me if I was excited to watch the Panthers. I said, "Who? Oh, they play tonight?" College football has started. That's REAL football. When the NFL starts their REAL season, I'll pay attention. But have MUCH more passion for the college game. Hey, I'm a Panthers fan. That's how it works. They usually suk.

    Run up the score? LOL

You better hope UN*C scores at all!

  • TB from WF Aug 29, 2013

The love is quite strong in this article, yes. :)

  • rxhiller1 Aug 29, 2013

A Tarheel win tonight would be stellar for the ACC! SOOOOOOOOOOO sick of the SEC stealing all the top talent!

  • rxhiller1 Aug 29, 2013

Go Heels! I would love to see Fedora run the score up on the self-centered visor wearing GameRoosters coach (As a Nole fan, I can't type his name)...

  • InTheNo Aug 29, 2013

Why does a story about UNC athletics to mention a businessman, lear jets, golf outings etc. These guys like Holliday and Tudor are so enamored with Carolina that they can't just can't even help themselves. They continue to mention and brag about it even when it does nothing but continue to promote the notion of an insidious, disgusting, corrupt cheater's club.

  • jdupree Aug 29, 2013

    SC will cure Carolina Fever!

  • cjw6105 Aug 29, 2013

The Heels' weather in Columbia tonight will be fowl- Clowney with pain, lots of it.

    Yes, they should.

  • ? Aug 29, 2013

Not UNC's fault. South Carolina basketball fell off the face of the earth when they left the ACC. GO HEELS!

Nice comment until it got stupid at the end, as you appear to live in Raleigh.

  • sburks1906 Aug 29, 2013

UNC does have a chance to win this game. All it has to do is keep its compusre on offense, and don't let Clowney wreak havoc. I love Fedora's fearless attitude and lets hope for the sake of UNC and the ACC it trickles down to his players.

Welcome back football season! We've missed you. Now, who will win this one...the yard birds or the jail birds???

  • Tizu Aug 29, 2013

Sunshine!!! Heck of a game. The 'real' Carolina resides in the South, by the way ;)

    Go Gamecocks!

    Its FOOTBALL DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • DowntownGirl Aug 29, 2013

It can be hard to figure out the censorship. Yesterday, when I posted about Johnny Football, it wouldn't let me type "1/2 a game" (it wouldn't let me spell out "half" - maybe because the censor thought I was going to type an "offensive" word after "half" - the three letter word meaning "rear end".

Also agree about Bob - he certainly hasn't lost his touch for excellent journalism.

Intended to say "State vs South Carolina was a big deal."

  • jmcdow2792 Aug 29, 2013

It wasn't just Carolina that had fierce battles with SC. State vs Carolina was a big deal. I still think that the slow down game that State used to beat SC and help to keep them out of the NCAA basketball tournament had a lot to do with the decision to leave the conference.

  • BreakingBaaahd Aug 29, 2013

I'd agree, they should let Bob do more on here.

LMTHAO on that one. Hey CD and Gunny, do you find it slightly hypocritical that WRAL can post a picture of a mascot with a name that would get you two or I banded?

  • REDRAGERS Aug 28, 2013

Good to read an interesting story from someone who knows how to write. The writer of " UNC student paper catches P.J. on the court" could take some lessons from Bob.

  • VT1994Hokie Aug 28, 2013

    Enjoyed this one Bob.

  • NEVER apologize for being white Aug 28, 2013

Nice piece. He did fail to mention the fact that Carolina, the REAL Carolina, holds a 2-1 win advantage in the over all record between the two. And it's more than 50 games played. I used to live in that dump of a town called Columbia, it reminds me of Durham.

  • StunGunn Aug 28, 2013

Great to see you, "The Captain"! These days, I only get to see you on Football Friday - miss you on WRAL.

Excellent piece - even this Heels fan can appreciate your take on the "rivalry". We got 'em in baseball this year, and I'd LOVE to see a Heels victory tomorrow, but Clowney and Company will be tough to beat. Still, you never know, so GO HEELS!
