The Prayers of the Faithful and those from other religons are needed. He has a void to fill amid the scandal associated with the Church. The Faithful will be reminded that even when you don't agree with him, in the Catholic Church, he is the Vicar of Christ on Earth.

timexliving, Obama is not the only president who has vacationed or played golf.

As for the new pope, I would like to see him continue to be humble and of service. What I would REALLY like to see is all of the riches stored in the Vatican and most of the real estate owned by the Vatican that is not used for masses to be sold in order to really help people. Even the cathedrals have been/are a waste of resources and manpower. I cannot take seriously the claim of any organization that they are the epitome of morality when their top people wear jewels and designer clothes and live like royalty, being waited on hand and foot.

"right wing conspiracy theories about this guy have already started." hardycitrus

Really? What are they?

Do you people think he is the leader??? I think he was chosen to be non-contreversial due to his age and a figurehead for another county which we all love and struggle with on a daily basis. He will not be making any decisions, he is the figurehead of the church, not the decision maker......do you all not understand the politics of the church? It has taken me more than 70+ years born, educated and living the catholic faith to "get it" the politics is unbelieveable..

If only all of our world leaders would be as humble and in service to the people. No golfing trips or vacations in Hawaii.

I am grateful we have a new humble pope, w/the confidence of his flock, thanks be to God! God bless us all!
