Pepe Silvia, I agree with you 100%!!

Life-goes-on - "An Amber alert is only supposed to be issued when it's believed the child is in danger. That usually translates to "with the father" and seldom is the father actually a threat to the child. It's more likely the system is being played to the mothers advantage to make the father appear unstable and threatening."

    What a bunch of rubbish!!!

I guess you've forgotten the number of times in the past year alone that children were taken by an angry parent and murdered by them, just to spite the other parent.

Should we risk children's lives just because some are sick of seeing Amber Alerts?

Should the lives of children be risked just because a parent who took them in anger rarely does harm to them.

Shouldn't we do all we can to protect children???

What kind of lives do some of you oblivious people live that the safety and lives of children are so unimportant to you???

Obamacare rises - "I don't believe these amber alerts any more. I've seen so many false alarms I disrgeard them all now."

    Duh!!!

I certainly hope if someone takes your children, others listen to the Amber Alerts about it.

Some of you are just oblivious to the fact that this could happen to you, or to someone close to you. Then you'd pay attention to them.

  • DontVote4LiarsCheatsOrThieves Mar 11, 2013

superman - "We dont need an amber alert when they know who took the children."

He beat their pregnant mother badly enough that she needed hospital treatment. How was she or the authorities to know he wasn't beating (or worse) the children too.

Several times last year, an angry parent took the children and killed them to get back at the other parent.

How was anyone to know this wasn't going to turn into the same thing?

If these were your children, you'd certainly want an Amber Alert.

    Wouldn't you!!!

Thank God the little ones are safe with there mom I was worried about them.

  • Pepe Silvia Mar 11, 2013

Some of you seem to not understand why/when Amber Alerts are issued.

    From the amberalert.gov website:

Summary of Department of Justice Recommended Criteria

-There is reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has occurred.

-The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.

-There is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child.

-The abduction is of a child aged 17 years or younger.

-The child’s name and other critical data elements, including the Child Abduction flag, have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system.

"We dont need an amber alert when they know who took the children. They have so many now that no one even bothers to watch or listen to the alert. Makes a good kitchen run or bathroom visit but thats about it." - superman

    From the Amber Alert website:
"For an AMBER Alert to be effective in recovering a missing child, the law enforcement agency must have enough information to believe that an immediate broadcast to the public will enhance the efforts of law enforcement to locate the child and apprehend the suspect."

Knowing who took the child is usually a very big part and if the child is believed to be with a violent person who just assaulted the child's (pregnant) mother it is all the more reason to do one!

Amazing how a news broadcast is a missing child is such a bore to you that you see it as an excuse to step away from the TV but you still felt the need to comment on a news story about it.

  • yinyangtkdgirl Mar 11, 2013

"These are a waste of time and money, they are always found safe either at home or at a friends.Check the bathroom next time first." - Uhavenoclu

Not every missing child or runaway qualifies for an Amber Alert. This one absolutely did. The abducttion happened as a result of domestic violence and the child was believed to be in danger.

  • superman Mar 11, 2013

Very seldom is the information released in the news the whole story. An Amber alert is only supposed to be issued when it's believed the child is in danger. That usually translates to "with the father" and seldom is the father actually a threat to the child. It's more likely the system is being played to the mothers advantage to make the father appear unstable and threatening. It's the default in any custody dispute.
Glad the boys were found unharmed but it's unlikely they were ever in any danger.

  • gobbledygook Mar 11, 2013

@kenloe3981 I'm on the same page!

  • ginny159 Mar 11, 2013

here's an idea to the mothers/fathers out there that are single and date/have boyfriend/girlfriends in front of their children: how about wait until your children are grown out of the house and/or do not let your significant other (unless they are trust worthy enough to be husband/wife) around your young children!!!!! If I were single, I wouldn't let my new boyfriend or even a man I was seeing for a few years around my daughter...she didn't ask to have a corral of men around her. THese situations lead to domestic disputes, violence against the child/infant (look at all the infants who have died in the care of a "boyfriend" or "friend" of the mothers) or fathers!! The little girl who died at the hands of her stepmom in the mountains! Just keep them away!

  • kenloe3981 Mar 11, 2013

think of the money this has cost the taxpayers.......medical bills , police service , etc.

  • Sweet summertime Mar 11, 2013

I also don't understand why it was a "wast of time" to have these children on the Amber Alert. If this man is worthless enough to hit a pregnant women, who is there to say he wouldn't have done harm to these poor innocent children? Please if you have nothing else better to say, keep your comments to yourselves.

  • Walkin Man Mar 11, 2013

It's always the kids that end up getting hurt the most.

  • Smart Alex Mar 11, 2013

Sounds like this man is violent and the children were in danger. I'm glad this had a good ending. I'm an adult and still have issues over witnessing domestic violence as a child. I hope the mother and children can recover and have a good life.

  • GravyPig Mar 11, 2013

Thanks for the comments Pepe, apparently the Censors have it out for me today. I said basically the same thing as you bu they for some reason chose not to post it.

I hope Uno and Gob don't ever have to search for their child.

  • Fireflies Rock Mar 11, 2013

How is searching for a kidnapped child possibly a waste of time & resources?! This child was taken unlawfully from his mother, and is NOT the child's father. With the long list of charges here, I should hope the police would be searching for him. The bigger question here is why did it take until 6:30 am to issue an Amber Alert when the child was taken the night before? Glad they got him and charged him with kidnapping, etc. Sounds like a terrible person.

  • kspoling Mar 11, 2013

child abducted by assailant/boyfriend, still abducted, still qualifies for amber alert, some people!!!

  • Pepe Silvia Mar 11, 2013

GG & Uhavenoclu - The Amber Alert was issued because it was believed the boy was with his mother's boyfriend.

Now that the story has been updated to say that he was - in fact - with the mother's boyfriend and he is being charged with - among other things - kidnapping, do you still think the Amber Alert was a waste of time/money? Especially when the mother, who is apparently pregnant, had to be taken to the hospital because of him and his violence?

I would hope not and I would hope that teaches you that what is released on the news is NOT the whole story.

  • gobbledygook Mar 11, 2013

@Uhavenoclu This is true.... thank you for speaking what I was thinkin!

  • Terkel Mar 11, 2013

Very sketchy info. Where was the little boy? If this was domestic, are both or only one going to pay for this?

  • Pepe Silvia Mar 11, 2013

"These are a waste of time and money, they are always found safe either at home or at a friends.Check the bathroom next time first." - Uhavenoclu

NOTHING in your statement is correct and I can't believe WRAL would even let you post this.

Searching for missing children is NEVER a waste of time or money and not every child who goes missing is even the subject of an Amber Alert, only ones who are believed to have been taken and where specific information can be released such as who may have taken the child and what they are driving.

  • driverkid3 Mar 11, 2013

Why in the name of heaven are they STILL running the alert on TV untill 9:55 if the kid has been found? The noise is annoying to say the least.

  • Sweet summertime Mar 11, 2013

It is sad when adults drag their children into their disagreements. Glad the boy was found safe.
