    @Irakydarb2:

the insult is that you actually think OTHER people should get censored based on YOUR beliefs

  • erderr4533 Mar 5, 10:56 a.m.

    @lrakydarb2

i'm sorry but how is what i said an insult? did you think i meant 'jesus people' or did you understand that it was more of a 'jesus, people...'....if you knew it was the second and are still perturbed, you should realize that, for one, i didn't compare christians to anything untoward or stereotype them in anyway (i don't need to since you seem to be quite capable of proving stereotypes about christians with no help from me)

if you percieved it as an insult merely bc i typed 'jesus' then you need to get over yourself and realize that your religious beliefs are meant for your personal salvation-not to tell other people what to do/say and especially not for wral to censor--your religion has nothing to do with me or wral. it's also not the only religion in the world so if wral were to censor comments based on who's religion will get 'insulted' then nobody would ever be able to comment on anything-least of all you

  • lrakydarb2 Mar 5, 8:50 a.m.

erderr4533, please refrain from taking the name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in vain.

Golo censor, this is clearly an insult to Christians. I would be interested in knowing how this post got past the censor.

  • erderr4533 Mar 4, 3:13 p.m.

wow...seriously?????? you guys took what, a mth, to release an article about the carjackings, rapes, and murders that all happened w/in a mth long period in one teensy little town (henderson). i mean jesus people get your heads out of the sand and actually report some NEWS

  • llrmouse Mar 4, 1:46 p.m.

OMG -- call the national news!!!

  • NewToMe Mar 4, 11:08 a.m.

1-ply flushes easier than 2-ply and breaks down faster/easier. This is why 1-ply is listed as septic system safe. I wonder if the maintenance staff had any say in this change?

  • Titus Pullo Mar 1, 12:44 p.m.

You gotta get some comfort for paying $58,000.00 per year while there.

  • chaddy796 Feb 28, 6:33 p.m.

Has no one at Duke heard of folding. I doubt anyone in Origami 101 complained.

  • JohnnyVoodoo Feb 28, 5:18 p.m.

NC State is still using pine cones and corn cobs.

    Triumph..........................
Yeah, and UNC at Chapel Hill is still using discarded plastic wrapper from their wine and cheese.

  • Triumph Feb 28, 5:07 p.m.

NC State is still using pine cones and corn cobs.

  • Triumph Feb 28, 5:06 p.m.

I always knew a Duke diploma was printed on single ply paper.

  • Triumph Feb 28, 5:04 p.m.

Finally, Duke students get something positive in return for their $50,000 a year education.

  • mondosinistro Feb 28, 4:58 p.m.

File this one under There Oughta Be A Law. 1-ply TP is an ABOMINATION. It's not that 2-ply is softer; it's that 1-ply disintegrates into little bits that get in places where they don't belong!!!

  • more cowbell Feb 28, 4:56 p.m.

I draw great comfort in knowing Dook students will no longer have a need to steal the two-ply toilet paper from the port-o-johns at the local construction sites.

  • disgusted2010 Feb 28, 4:43 p.m.

Must be a slow news day at the 24/7 entertainment outlet that WRAL's so called news has become.

  • JohnnyVoodoo Feb 28, 4:38 p.m.

I still say something stinks about this story!

  • ForHim Feb 28, 4:31 p.m.

I think I saw earlier this week that Duke was raising tuition. I guess high quality toilet paper has to be paid for somehow.

  • whistler411 Feb 28, 4:27 p.m.

Really, this is news? Although I have to say if I was paying 50 grand a year, I would expect decent toilet paper.

  • Disabled Vet Feb 28, 4:03 p.m.

Tail wiping at Duke is news in what way?

  • Sherlock Feb 28, 3:43 p.m.

What a great way to use tax money, now there will be another raise in the cost of going to school there!

  • Terkel Feb 28, 3:43 p.m.

Damien, 4Strikes, NotUr...now I have to seek out some 2-ply to wipe the screen after your epic comments!

The rest of you: lighten up. Let WRAL have a little fun!

  • Terkel Feb 28, 3:38 p.m.

Last week it was boobs, now it's tushies.

  • JohnnyVoodoo Feb 28, 3:26 p.m.

This HAD to be written by a community college journalism student doing their intern at WRAL. Absolutely no other way to explain it. But then again, aren't most of the news stories at WRAL written by college interns?

  • Whookneww Feb 28, 3:18 p.m.

    Seriously???? This is news????

  • andy2 Feb 28, 3:13 p.m.

    Why is this news?

  • ohheels1 Feb 28, 3:02 p.m.

And why is this news worthy?

  • Uhavenoclu Feb 28, 2:59 p.m.

This is news, switching toilet paper? ???????.
    Mamby pamby at its best.

  • truth9806 Feb 28, 2:52 p.m.

So when they roll the quad they can use twice as much paper...

  • Damien Thorne Feb 28, 2:51 p.m.

WRAL is really scraping the bottom for stories now........

  • Holy Carp. Feb 28, 2:41 p.m.

    Mr Whipple would be proud!

  • jcthai Feb 28, 2:39 p.m.

Wow, WRAL. Top headline? Asking you if this is a slow newsday is beneath me. Wow.

  • Just Once Feb 28, 2:30 p.m.

I agree - must be a deadly slow news day. Pretty sad - or someone is being funny... Breakthroughs.. ha ha

  • The2ruthHurts Feb 28, 2:30 p.m.

Pampering the future of our country. Duke must have a ton of cash that they have the itch to spend. Well, who am I to tell someone else how to spend his/her money. :)

  • RM24 Feb 28, 2:27 p.m.

They barely made it thru that traumatic frat party with the Chinese theme. Can u even imagine how horrible it must be to having to use 1 ply while going thru the trama of that event? I can't. It must have been horrible!

  • NotUrTypicalAmerican Feb 28, 2:22 p.m.

So a comfort-focused upgrade is 2-ply toliet paper? I guess a downgrade would be using The Independent Daily instead of leaves.

  • beas Feb 28, 2:20 p.m.

I am so glad to know this. I can sleep tonight.

  • NotUrTypicalAmerican Feb 28, 2:17 p.m.

How is Duke's one-ply toliet paper like John Wayne?

It's rough and tough and doesn't take anything off of anybody!

  • NotUrTypicalAmerican Feb 28, 2:16 p.m.

Man, I don't know what's funnier, WRAL for running with this story or the comments replies!

  • jaydosse Feb 28, 2:13 p.m.

"As Duke grads, I think they will do ok in the job market." ~Seligkeit~

    ========================================

I hope so, considering the student loan debts most of them are probably facing.

  • common sense please Feb 28, 2:13 p.m.

DID SOMEONE ACTUALLY GET PAID TO WRITE THIS STORY.....WHAT A SHAME THAT WRAL CALLS THIS NEWSWORTHY. IT IS NOT EVEN WORTH A PIECE OF THE PAPER (USED)THE STORY IS ABOUT.

  • jaydosse Feb 28, 2:08 p.m.

" officials plan to phase out one-ply toilet paper for a softer two-ply option."

    ==============================================

Well at least it will be better than using newspaper.

  • mep Feb 28, 2:07 p.m.

All part of the lacrosse settlement.

  • ICTrue Feb 28, 1:58 p.m.

I heard that they had several major breakthroughs at Duke lately....but then they switched to 2-ply and that fixed that problem.

  • ICTrue Feb 28, 1:56 p.m.

Please make this story the headline...The toilet paper at Duke is about as important and far more usefull than the Violence Against Women bill that congress just passed.

  • Seligkeit Feb 28, 1:55 p.m.

As Duke grads, I think they will do ok in the job market.

"they really should be worrying about getting a job, having a life."

  • yellowhorses Feb 28, 1:29 p.m.

Must be nice to be young and so out of touch with reality. Instead of worrying about whether they have 1 ply or 2, they really should be worrying about getting a job, having a life.

  • westernwake1 Feb 28, 1:22 p.m.

They should upgrade them to sandpaper...

  • scifion Feb 28, 1:05 p.m.

    that's fine reporting right there.

  • mike275132 Feb 28, 12:51 p.m.

50K a year tuition get you Two ply TP.

    Such a deal....

  • irenegrimes Feb 28, 12:44 p.m.
