Our judicial system is really disapointing. People get away with murder maybe that why so many people are killing. Why should this lady be allowed to get a deal after what she has done? The criminals have the rights and who looks out for victims- so sad. The only comforting thing for the family is that beautiful Zahra is no longer suffering. She can be at rest now.

do unto others people, do unto others...... RIP sweet child. Very sad that you were not allowed to become all that you could have been, and that your perpetrator lives on every day.

  • sweetcountrygirl32 Feb 21, 2013

May she now rest in peace.

  • daydreamer4668 Feb 21, 2013

Took a longtime to figure that out........

  • jcthai Feb 21, 2013

Great headline, WRAL. So I guess now that they know this skull belongs to this little girl, they can give it back to her? Has she been missing it? Lovely......

  • Walkin Man Feb 21, 2013

The sentence hardly fits the crime. ALL of this little girl's life was taken from her.

  • zenonx6 Feb 21, 2013

Politically correct is not socially correct.

  • anastasia Feb 21, 2013

I didn't realize the identity of these remains hadn't been made before now? Why did it take so long, I wonder?

  • Milkman Feb 21, 2013

Horrible that poor child will have no justice. 15 years (so that's maybe 7 with good behavior) for killing and dismembering her, raping her, bigamy and identity theft, of course the judge didn't see fit to make all the sentences consecutive or anything like that, sad that judge is probably still on the bench.

Both Adam and Elisa baker, Zahra's parents are as guilty as sin, they just got away with murder.

Adam high tailed his behind to Australia ASAP and she, Elisa, received such a short time in prison that with good behavior we will see her out on the street in about five years perhaps less.

  • bigbadbill Feb 21, 2013

    15-18 years? What a joke.

  • dollibug Feb 21, 2013

RIP are safe and loved now....and at peace.

  • smcallah Feb 21, 2013

"I still don't understand why Ms. Baker didn't get life in prison. 15-18 years is a joke."

You should try to understand what being convicted of 2nd degree murder means for the sentencing involved.

  • poeticallycorrect-InvNo1 Feb 21, 2013

I've seen people get more time than this for selling drugs.

  • wenfromwake Feb 21, 2013

I still don't understand why Ms. Baker didn't get life in prison. 15-18 years is a joke.

  • 426X3 Feb 21, 2013

Little Zahra is with her saviour in heaven. Her father and step-mother will not receive the same reward when thier judgement day comes.

  • valentina21459 Feb 21, 2013

That poor child suffered when she had to leave her own mother in Australia; then she gets cancer; then loses her leg; then becomes partially deaf; then she has to live with abusive step mother; THEN she dies a horrendous, disgusting death; her body is further abused AFTER death; then the final insult, the murderer gets very little time. That poor child. Just looking at her face I think of all the couples who would have given her a beautiful life. I hope that murderer is living a horrible life in prison; she should have gotten the death penallty for hurting that angel.
    Rest in peace dear child.

  • carolinafan Feb 21, 2013

The father did not get any time for Zahara's murder. I am not sure how but I am sure he knew what happened to his daughter. How can this woman only get 15 to 18 years for killing this little girl, then cutting up your body and putting different body parts in different locations. It is SICK!!!

  • Glass Half Full Feb 21, 2013

Elisa Baker got away with murder.

  • romneycare Feb 21, 2013

@vile garbage, what about a father witnessing his daughter get raped, and the father ends up killing the raper?? Mandatory life according to your rules???... There are always exceptions!!

  • Hans Feb 21, 2013

I wish you could have had a better life on Earth, little one, and I pray you are someplace special now.

  • Readytomoveon2015 Feb 21, 2013

    Soooo very sad....

  • vile garbage Feb 21, 2013

I think if you murder someone, not matter if it's first or second degree you should get mandatory life behind bars for second and death for first degree. No exceptions. I mean how can you TAKE someones life and not have to pay with your own? This country is pathetic. Noone is accountable.

  • romneycare Feb 21, 2013

15-18 years but you know shes getting out earlier then that!!

  • twoods7 Feb 21, 2013

15 to 18 years?!?!? And we call this our Justice System? I don't see any justice with a sentence like this. The Mother should be on Death Row like yesterday...

  • sendusmessage Feb 21, 2013

    Poor little girl... Wicked parents!

  • Scubagirl Feb 21, 2013

So wrong that the stepmom only got 15-18. Zahra got LIFE!

  • sjb2k1 Feb 21, 2013

so, did the dad get punished at all for this? at least for something? anything?

  • tjdebord Feb 21, 2013

So, for all of this the woman was only sentenced to 15-18 years?!! At a minimum it should have been life.
