You people could care less of the fact that Crystal Mangum alledgedly murdered Reginald Daye. Yes they both have names. If it was not for the Duke Lacrosse case you not have any concerns or outr

let's see if Pastorius gets bail...

  • unaffiliated69 Feb 21, 1:22 p.m.

I had to check the calender and make sure this was not April 1st. Is Durham playing a prank on us?

  • Nancy Feb 21, 11:08 a.m.

Ok, so who paid her bail? Where is the reporting?

  • Rebelyell55 Feb 21, 10:10 a.m.

This is a joke right? Who would post that much money for her?

  • wakewiseone Feb 20, 7:27 p.m.

    "..........released on bond........"

only in durham, nc.......the place that has revolving doors on the jail and the town that has one of the highest gun violence/murder rates in the state.

and bill bell cries out for "more gun control". sounds like to me durham instead needs to keep some of the perps locked up........NO BAIL.

  • atheistswillserveinhell Feb 20, 6:25 p.m.

    wonderful

  • seenbetterdaze Feb 20, 6:00 p.m.

It's the Lib/Prog/Socialists mentality...if she is a criminal, she MUST be a Victim! Either she was Poor, Abused, or Ignorant, according to the Liberal Elites because there is no such thing as EVIL. And being a "minority" makes her victim hood even worse...but Liberal Elites have NO Sympathy for the white Adam Lanzas, the Holmes guy in Aurora, Co., or the other white shooters who were drugged, mental cases...so Lib/Progs use those guys as their excuses to BAN Guns...and "da'chilren", of course.

  • reel4fun Feb 20, 5:53 p.m.

It amazes me that when they let these criminals back out on the street... they then tell us after they commit more crimes that we can't take the law into our own hands.....well if the people that we charge to do the right thing don't do it......then why shouldn't we handle it ourselves. Someone needs to protect us.

  • timexliving Feb 20, 5:03 p.m.

May be she put up the money Jesse Jackson gave to her for college tuition. See: http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/1091599/

  • nano Feb 20, 5:02 p.m.

So, VT released that creep who shot the state trooper, and NC releases this crazy person. Swell. The clock's ticking, and I'm wondering what CM will do next...hopefully leave for good.

  • whocares Feb 20, 4:57 p.m.

Why do the media have to keep describing her as the Duke Lacrose accuser. You would think by now everyone would recognize her name with out the description.

  • C6-YA Feb 20, 4:47 p.m.

Foolish bondman… she’s goanna run. A definite flight risk.

  • ksjpwilliams Feb 20, 4:40 p.m.

Micheal Peterson gets out on house arrest, Crystal Mangum gets out on house arrest, the guy with the bones in the backpack gets his trial dismissed, Eve Carson's killers get a new trial, etc etc, etc. No wonder Durham has such a bad rep for crime! WE KEEP RELEASING THEM.

  • FairPlay Feb 20, 4:31 p.m.

What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A first degree murder charge and bond? This is ludicrous. We all know her thanks to the media glorification and she is a menace to society. Lock her up!

  • Sherlock Feb 20, 4:22 p.m.

Is the NAACP helping her like they did when she accused the players and said that she was the victim then or have they found that she took them to the cleaners as well.

  • zonk Feb 20, 4:17 p.m.

    WHY ????????????????

  • I know some stuff Feb 20, 4:15 p.m.

I saw the OTHER story, head line, missing Durham woman. Thought it might be Crystal, but it wasn't, not yet anyway.:)

  • Glass Half Full Feb 20, 4:14 p.m.

It is my opinion that an individual charged with 1st degree murder should have no bond. In this case, there should absolutely be no bond. This woman has proven time and time again she's unstable and violent. I give it less than a month before she's locked back up for something else.

  • BANMD Feb 20, 4:13 p.m.

OMG!!!! WHAT??? Are you kidding me?
Who is the numb nut that let her go?
    This is crazy!

  • pipcolt Feb 20, 4:12 p.m.

The state keeps letting them back out and I will keep toting. Until changes are made with the courts, judges, DA's and the legal system I will not give up my side arms.

  • Plenty Coups Feb 20, 4:04 p.m.

"Law abiding gun ownwers are being threatened by the government and then they release people like this....."

No ones being "threatened" and they're following the rule of law that one is innocent until proven guilty. She made her bond. I have zero sympathy for the woman and hope she goes to jail after conviction but don't pretend that somehow we're just letting criminals go.

  • SaltlifeLady Feb 20, 4:00 p.m.

How does she get to be out on bond while charged with murder? There is a huge problem with our system!!! People like her need to stay in jail. And if she is dumb enough to represent herself in a murder case you might as well leave her there because that is where she will end up.

  • goncampn2 Feb 20, 3:58 p.m.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! THEY LET HER OUT?? I also agree with masontom56

  • masontom56 Feb 20, 3:41 p.m.

Like I said yesterday about the guy walking around with a bag of bones from one of his victims......

Law abiding gun ownwers are being threatened by the government and then they release people like this.....

Now you know where the problem really lies

  • mfarmer1 Feb 20, 3:32 p.m.

so lets let all the murderers out of jail while were at it.

  • ellengraham5660 Feb 20, 3:30 p.m.

I think Woody Vann is being forced to assist her in her representation...........I would begrudge the judge who appointed me to THAT case.....

  • tran Feb 20, 3:27 p.m.

"Not to nitpick, but the man she stabbed died a week later, if memory serves, as a result of the wounds inflicted. So, technically, she didn't stab him to death."

Why do you think it matters how long it takes a person to die from a wound? Would her crime be worse if this man had succumbed to the wounds she inflicted within a few minutes?

  • stymieindurham Feb 20, 3:20 p.m.

Calm down! I don't like her being out anymore than you do. But, a person's bond is only to ensure their appearance in court. So long as she was in jail under the $200k everything was OK, huh? As soon as she exerts her tight to the bond you freak out. She should have been doing active time for the lying allegations 7 yrs ago that all you folks and Ol' Jesse backed her up on!!!! That guy would probably still be alive.

  • hayzoos Feb 20, 3:04 p.m.

She's representing herself, so I hope this trial is televised, as that should be hilarious.

  • Crumps Br0ther Feb 20, 3:03 p.m.

"Why must WRAL start every headline about this messed up girl as Duke Lacrosse accuser?"

Because thats how most people know her. Mention her name to most people and their faces go blank, you mention Duke lacrosse they know exactly who you are talking about

  • puzzled Feb 20, 2:35 p.m.

So, we have a person in society who can do what they want to and get by with it, huh? Must have power we are not aware of??

  • airbornemonty Feb 20, 2:29 p.m.

I haven't read the previous posts yet, but what I want to know is, was the $200,000 bond secured or was it the usual unsecured bond that North Carolina issues.

I think that a bond that large would be difficult to have on hand unless there was someone else with deep pockets somewhere in the shadows wanting that flesh.

If she has any sense, she will disapear into the deepest corners of the United States and leave whoever posted the bond to pay.

  • david46 Feb 20, 2:17 p.m.

Sandy hook was not a gun issue, it was a mental health issue. Now this judge has turned a violent mentally unstable person loose on the general public and leave us to wonder when the other shoe is going to drop.

  • 4Strikes Feb 20, 2:10 p.m.

"Why must WRAL start every headline about this messed up girl as Duke Lacrosse accuser?"

I thought the same thing, and so did many others who have commented here. All I can figure, is WRAL just can't let the Duke Lacrosse thing go..

  • my2cents-justsaying Feb 20, 1:56 p.m.

First of all, she doesnt need the full 200k. And even with a 10% bond she would still have to make payments equal to 20% (most of the time would require 15%).

Secondly...lets not bring liberals, food stamps, and medicaid into this. Why does every story end up there?! Please don't demean people who may have received those benefits by making a comparison!

  • lprop Feb 20, 1:56 p.m.

Nothing really to comment on. Same story different person.

Abraham Lincoln Had It Right - “He who represents himself has a fool for a client”

  • passport423 Feb 20, 1:44 p.m.

per Einstein, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. in this case, the judge is crazy to let her out. she is a menace to society.

  • mistervegas Feb 20, 1:39 p.m.

The judge should have never allowed her bond or at least set the bond so high she couldn't get bond. This woman is a flight risk.

  • romneycare Feb 20, 1:32 p.m.

    shame...shame... shame,

  • DaisyMae Feb 20, 1:17 p.m.

    OMG....what next!

  • HANS FOR PRESIDENT!!!!! JK Feb 20, 1:17 p.m.

Not to nitpick, but the man she stabbed died a week later, if memory serves, as a result of the wounds inflicted. So, technically, she didn't stab him to death. However, this woman is crazy as a bedbug, so no telling what she'll do next!
    DangYankee

Ummmmm if she stabbed him and it took a week for him to die.....from the stab wounds.... she did indeed "technically" stab him to death. Just took him a week to die.

  • Shaking My Head In Amusement Feb 20, 1:11 p.m.

She probably posted her own bond. With Obama's Chid-Tax credits and her multiple children x2 tax years to 'bank' those refunds, she likely had her own bail money. Let's give her Obama's other benefits now that she's out....wouldn't want such an upstanding citizen on the street so she gets a home, an EBT card for food, Obama-care Medicaid for her health ins and the free phone she's entitled to because she has those benefits so she has 250 minutes and 250 texts to use on the back of the rest of us. I bet if I committed the same crimes she has I'd never be on the free side of the iron bars....makes no sense!

  • Crumps Br0ther Feb 20, 1:04 p.m.

The guy that shot the cop this week had over 100 charges and was still on the street. Something is serioulsy wrong with our judicial system. But we the people keep sitting here talking about it and doing nothing..
    alexwrenn

as I mentioned before, the reason a lot of these violent offenders or on the streets is because the jails need bed space for the people who pulled mandatory minimum sentences for drugg offenses. And there is a certain section of the gun grabbers that want mandatory sentences as a part of their gun control effort, namely in Chicago, and the jails are telling not to do it because they dont have the room as it is. Kinda funny if you think about it, conservatives wanted mandatory sentences for drugs and libs want mandatory sentences for guns. The only winner is the prisons who have the contracts to warehouse people. The streets are obvously not any safer with mandatory drug sentences

  • bevknight23 Feb 20, 1:04 p.m.

I cannot believe that our justice system would allow this PERSON to be back out on the streets...Totally unbelievable...And to the bondsman????

  • DangYankee Feb 20, 1:04 p.m.

Not to nitpick, but the man she stabbed died a week later, if memory serves, as a result of the wounds inflicted. So, technically, she didn't stab him to death. However, this woman is crazy as a bedbug, so no telling what she'll do next!

She just needs to go away, very far away.

  • Obamacare rises Feb 20, 12:51 p.m.

It is more of a question of what fool would post $200,000 in bond for this murderer?
    westernwake1

Perhaps it was her p*mp. Now he can market her as a celebrity prostitute.
