Nobody has anything locked up at this point, but both teams would have to have a total collaspe to miss the tournement. UNC may be a little more on the bubble than State right now, but they will get in partly because of their history. State has some quality wins and a pretty good RPI rating. They beat Stanford, who is not that good, but not a bad team either. They beat UConn who has beaten both Syracuse and ND. They beat UNC-A, while no powerhouse, made the tourney last year, is leading their conference and will probably make the tourney this year. Except for WF and maybe Maryland, all of State's losses have come to ranked or tournement teams, and Maryland is still on the bubble, one of the last 4 out at this point. Both UNC and State are in the Top20 in SOS. So unless either one collaspes and loses 3-4 of their last games, they are in. And even then, they would still be on the bubble. Name the last year the ACC didn't send at least 4-5 teams to the tournement, Right now the top 5 are Miami, Duke, State, UNC and UVa tied for 3rd with State and UNC, but they are fading a little and lost the last head to head match up with both. State and UNC both are probably going to win at least 2-3 of their last 5 games giving them around 20 or more wins on the season, so they should be about a lock at this point.

I am not sure why people are stil doubting that State is in the tourney... unless they lose the remainder of their games. They showed that they were a projected 7th seed tonight, before they won the game against FSU. UNC is closer to the bubble, but I think they will get in too. Congrats to all UNC fans for a solid road win tonight. I am looking forward to a good match-up on Saturday. At least there are a few UNC fans worried about State for once in a very long time. That is a small victory in itself I think. Go Pack!

Carolina's loses should be considered also ...loses to Indiana-(road) Butler-(road) Texas-(road) State-(road) Virgina-(road) Miami-( twice) ...some have said Carolina is struggling but for a team that lost 90 percent of its scoring from last year. Their in good shape... GO HEEL's

There is no way anybody has locked up anything at this point. State and UNC each only have 1 win over the Top 25 and both were at home. I would argue that if Carolina wins on Saturday they resumes are even with the edge to UNC if they take care of Duke in the finale.

No doubt. Hopefully tonight was State's good game and Carolina's bad game and it will reverse on Saturday. It better, or we won't hear the end of it for a LOOOONNNGGGGG time...lol.

  • still heelman1973 Feb 19, 2013

Any win on the road is huge for this team. Looking forward to kicking the wussies back to Raleigh on Saturday.

  • VT1994Hokie Feb 19, 2013

UNC came to the fore tonight and played a solid game. This was a much needed win to obtain the bid. I think they are in after this one. Go little Heels. My son just called me. I told him to never call me this late. Great road win.

The game was downright ugly, but I agree, I'll take a road win any day. They need to play a lot better on Saturday. State was really hot tonight.

Roy said he had "flu like" symptoms for the IVA game; in fact, Roy wasn't sure he'd play that game. Maybe he's still feeling sick. He also is having back and knee issues. It took a long time for him to hit a shot tonight. But, even when he's not scoring his leadership is valuable.

Hey Anderson. I worked in Goldsboro back in 07 with the Dept.of Public Instruction as a consultant. Dr. Steve Taylor was the Supt. Great guy and his staff was really good to work with. I loved going to Wilbur's BBQ. I wish we had one of those up here in Southern Pines. That was the real deal. I pull for UNC mainly because my son is a graduate. Dean Smith is the all time best. VT has my heart. Some UNC fans have totally turned me off of late.

  • kornfan2448 Feb 19, 2013

To play and shoot the way the Heels did and come away with a 10+ point road win...I'll take it. Now, bring on the Pack!

    GO HEELS!!

  • VT1994Hokie Feb 19, 2013

When any team is down by 16 points with 2 minutes left in the game, a team needs to foul every chance they get. No brainer.

    That was funny.

  • anderson Feb 19, 2013

Now they are running...still lots of time to go though...thankfully GT can't hit from the free throw line tonight or it would be much closer...gotta play a LOT better than this to win Saturday

  • anderson Feb 19, 2013

    McAdoo airballs a free throw...P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C

  • anderson Feb 19, 2013

seems to be getting his stroke back at the right time

  • anderson Feb 19, 2013

Not sure what it is with the Tarheel team on the road...other than the first half against Duke they haven't looked impressive on the road at all

  • kornfan2448 Feb 19, 2013

GT is Carolina's best FT shooter so far.

  • anderson Feb 19, 2013

can't keep giving up those wide open 3's

  • anderson Feb 19, 2013

What's up with Bullock? He looks kinda, well, out of it

  • easystreet Feb 19, 2013

While I like the new look with three guards.........why not go back to what worked against GT earlier?

    Go Heels!

  • VT1994Hokie Feb 19, 2013

GT is shooting better than UNC at this point. TO's have hurt GT. 0-6 from the FT line for GT may haunt them.

  • VT1994Hokie Feb 19, 2013

Coaching will show up in this one. Wait and see. Toss up right now.

  • anderson Feb 19, 2013

True...Hairston not looking as sharp from 3 and, has Bullock even put up a shot? They need to start blocking out down low on defense too. Tech has had 3 or 4 easy putbacks...still happy with a lead on the road...will be very happy if it's a win on the road:)

  • kornfan2448 Feb 19, 2013

Ugly game so far, neither team shooting well at all.

  • VT1994Hokie Feb 19, 2013

One betting organization has UNC by 3.5. Another at 2 pts. They are pretty close. Go Heels. Win this one and get in.

The Pack put on a show tonight. Leslie had his head in this one. State sealed it in fashion to the NCAA.

  • kornfan2448 Feb 19, 2013

Heels won somewhat easily in Chapel Hill by 16. I think this game will be tougher, but Carolina gets the win...81-74

Especially a ROAD win!! For some reason, Roy hasn't had luck in Atlanta. Hope the Heels don't get stung by those Jackets again. Go heels!

  • VT1994Hokie Feb 19, 2013

I have watched Clemson blow a game against #2 at home. No way they should have lost this one. Two shots at the end three feet away. WF has been strong at home. and it may not be enough to save Jeff his job. GT will be in this one until the final seconds tick off of the clock.

  • UNC 11-3 COASTAL CHAMPS Feb 19, 2013

The Heels have dropped a few games down in Atlanta with much more talented teams. Road games are never easy when the name reads North Carolina or Duke across the chest. It will be close but GO HEELS!

  • senor wuf Feb 19, 2013

With the way the heels have been playing I think they will win this one by 8 after GT makes a late push. Still pulling for those yellow jackets to help out the wolfpack in the ACC standings though :P

UNC is favored by 2. It will be a tight one. Some teams have really impressed me at home this season. Still hoping that UNC can cash in with a win.

I think the Heels win by 10 but I don't think it will be easy

  • VT1994Hokie Feb 19, 2013

UNC is playing much better lately. The energy and hustle is more evident in the last few games. GT will not lay down. I expect a close game.

  • BeastOfTheHill Feb 19, 2013

an easy win for the Heels! 10 points minimum!
