Dnut, He was probably pulled for speeding and may have a record and didnt want to get caught so he thought that shooting the trooper was the best option. TOTALLY NOT, but in his twisted mind, it was.

  • Fuquay Resident Feb 18, 7:54 p.m.

kellypsnll, the tags probably don't even belong on the car. He probably stole the car and stole the tags off another car.

heelsgirl05, a "speed trap" is an area where LEOs set and wait for a car to speed by and the write them a ticket. Not an area where people speed through.

    >>>>>>>Got ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with using a firearm on a State Trooper! When I was a kid in North Carolina, they we're the toughest guys on the block. You didn't think twice about saying Yes Sir to them, and you certainly didn't do anything like this! Praying for a speedy recover for him, and capture for the crook!!

  • Steven Feb 18, 7:51 p.m.

Wonder if this has anything to do with the troopers blowing by on I-40 just a few minutes ago. There are a bunch waiting on the side of the Interstate in both directions too.

  • IBleedRedandWhite Feb 18, 7:50 p.m.

Praying for the trooper's quick and full recovery! Hope they catch the person who did this!

  • DukeFan23 Feb 18, 7:49 p.m.

Unfortunately the State of North Carolina makes it hard for Police trying to do their job by handing out these 30 day tags that cannot be run to see who it belongs to. Maybe something will finally make them change their mind so that Officer's can do their job better and be more safe.

Should be pretty easy to look up in the data base the number of people registering a Nissan altima in the last couple months. Hope the trooper will recover fully.

If the suspect was smart, he would go turn himself in or he face the wrath of the LEO community. Do not pass go and do not collect $200.00 Maybe we’ll get lucky and he’ll eat a bullet, saving our state millions to defend a piece a trash like this.

  • DukeFan23 Feb 18, 7:45 p.m.

@jackflash: It happened right after 6.

Hope the Trooper has a speedy recovery and the suspect is dealt with accordingly.

  • jackflash123 Feb 18, 7:39 p.m.

If this was around 6:15-6:20 or so, I think a sheriff responding to this passed me on 70.

    Prayers for the trooper...

Sad state of affairs when our troopers are being shot on the roads. Prayers for the trooper and the family. Hope they find the scum responsible quickly. As the mother-in-law of one of our finest troopers I also pray that we never get that telephone call.

  • Feb 18, 7:35 p.m.

God bless this trooper and all who serve us.

  • eyeoneastsky Feb 18, 7:33 p.m.
