So sad, innocent lives taken. On top of it our tax money has to support them while they plea their way out of the death penalty. It seems like the judicial system works in the criminal's favor. It seems unfair and that the victims get the raw deal. Just hope one day it will change.

  • smilesobright Feb 19, 8:57 a.m.

Ok this is ridiculous. Moses has no remorse what so ever so there is no way a deal should have been made. Lock them all up and throw away the key.. and the mother needs a harsher punishment than them all because not only did she do wrong but she failed to protect her child and threw him to the wolves.

  • stymieindurham Feb 18, 5:41 p.m.

Oh pleaseeee! Two people murdered and what happens? NOTHING! Any bets on how long it takes for one of the liberal "get'm out of jail free" groups comes to the rescue?

  • kellypsnll Feb 18, 5:19 p.m.

Brainwashed. So sad that people can follow one and believe it is ok to take another life.

  • gregg45 Feb 18, 3:58 p.m.

its amazing 40 comments on murder, 198 on ni music in a mega church,, wow, people, a 4 year old for your music,, what to do,

  • JustOneGodLessThanU Feb 18, 3:57 p.m.

Where did these people get the idea that their actions were ok?

It's like there's some sort of handbook that described acceptable and unacceptable behavior with associated punishments or something...

  • charmcclainlovesdogs2 Feb 18, 2:38 p.m.

All involved should absolutely get life in prison and not parole, ever. A child's life was takes as well as a woman. They had a right to live but their life was taken. They even buried them. Life in PRISON!!

  • puzzled Feb 18, 1:28 p.m.

Oh so your religion is the correct one and the good one and everyone elses is wrong and bad. I get it, I get it.
    Jimmytwotimes
I am not sure what you think you get. I have not said anybody's religion is wrong or right. But if you don't believe in God then who, what???? I happen to believe in Him and not in religion. You seem to want to put it down. I still do not appreciate that. It seems to me that you just want to put anyone down who thinks that right is right and wrong is wrong, not matter who or what. No further comments will be made about your comment so no need to bother. I get your drift!!!!

  • jaydosse Feb 18, 1:24 p.m.

It just struck me that the look on her face is very similar to my previous supervisors glare. Gosh, I wonder if they are related??
Scary thought. Oh well, so much for idle pondering.

  • dipenkara Feb 18, 1:23 p.m.

All in the name of GOD

  • atheistswillrule Feb 18, 1:16 p.m.

They weren't Christian either. The article says they called themselves "Black Hebrews." They believe in God, but not Christ, so therefore NOT a "Christian" religion. christinathefern

Doesn't matter if they were christian or not. Just another example of people using religious mythology to hurt and control others.

  • christinathefern Feb 18, 12:57 p.m.

This is what the entitlement state has led to. Does anyone think that any of these excrescences grew up in two-parent families that cared about honor, dignity, and education?

This sounds no different than conditions in 3rd world Africa/Middle East dictatorships.

  • jaydosse Feb 18, 12:55 p.m.

In that photo, she has a look on her face that makes her appear as though she is being persecuted for something she had nothing to do with. Hope she rots in prison!!!!!

  • beachlvr0804 Feb 18, 12:55 p.m.

How does anyone kill a child?

  • ellengraham5660 Feb 18, 12:49 p.m.

organized religion is awesome!!! So much good comes from it all over the world. (sarcasm) Jimmytwotimes Organized religion is good but it is Christian organized that is really awezome. I know you are being sacraxtic, but since Christian values are no longer valued or taught look at the rapid growth of horrible crimes. They have always been around but look at the decline in morals and the increase of people hurting people. I don't like people who try to throw off on good moral values and system. Feelings of guilt sometimes make us do just that. The only thing to do for those folks is to pray for them as I just have for you.

The legal system in the state is nothing but a joke and controlled by clowns called DA's. There motto is lets take the easy road to get a conviction pled guilty to a lesser crime.

  • Obamacare rises Feb 18, 12:29 p.m.

    What a disgusting human being.

  • golorealist Feb 18, 12:25 p.m.

good thing she only killed two people instead of dealing drugs. her punishment could have been so much worse if she was dealing.

  • jurydoc Feb 18, 12:24 p.m.

Can an attorney please explain to the posters why neither of them got the death penalty?

I am not an attorney, but I can offer some explanation. This woman pleaded guilty to and was convicted of second degree murder. The death penalty cannot be given on convictions of second degree murder; it must be first degree. As for Moses, the article clearly states that he "pleaded guilty to both murders in June in a deal that allows him to avoid the death penalty." Whatever you think about plea deals, they are a way to a confirmed conviction; a trial, which is REQUIRED for a person to get the death penalty, can always end in an acquittal. It is a calculated risk by the prosecutor.

  • ThaTruth4 Feb 18, 11:30 a.m.

"Good grief. While this is horrible, the writing on this story is awful. Someone please proof this article and then put is back up correctly."

This is my favorite irony: people who make grammatical mistakes while pointing out mistakes others have made. Priceless.

  • Wendellcatlover Feb 18, 11:27 a.m.

"...were killed, she because she planned to leave the group and he because Moses thought he showed signs of being gay."

I bet those other inmates are showing Moses "signs of being gay". I'm sure he's getting what he deserves. How exactly does a 5-6 year exhibit signs of being gay??? By hugging and kissing another male? Moses is a bigger id!ot than he seemed and he is truly evil. I hope the poor baby died immediately and without any pain. Poor child being brought into that insanity!

  • puzzled Feb 18, 10:57 a.m.

Wow! 23 years for an entire lifetime for two people. Discusting how soft we are on murderers in this country. Yet on some crimes we are very tough. She got less time than some drug dealers. I personally know one man who got 35 to 40 years for selling drugs. Don't understand how this could happen.

23 years-is that all. No wonder Durham is sinking into crime. Life should have been the minimum.

  • JennyB Feb 18, 10:45 a.m.

    Disgusting.
