"Remains under investigation" means more severe charges could be pending.

Then again, what's the point? He'll get out, change his name, get a new license (or simply drive without one) and be back on the road in no time.

We need to make the penalties for driving drunk or on drugs (even rx drugs) as severe as humanely tolerable). Then and only then will we have a chance to stop these senseless deaths. When will people wake the heck up!

He chose to drink and drive he needs to be put in jail and stay there for a long time!!

veyor, the W is for "WHILE". Driving While Intoxicated. DUI is driving under the influence.

For that man to only be charged with a dwi and not vehicular man slaughter is beyond me... his drinking and driving KILLED SOME ONE! What is wrong with this picture !?

  • miketroll3572 Feb 18, 4:34 p.m.

why? If he is illegal he is just here to make a better life for himself and his family. Thats what the bleeding hearst tell us

Yeah, the bleeding heart liberals. They could care less and just want the votes.

  • veyor Feb 18, 3:53 p.m.

He was charged with dWi, not dUi. The article doesn't say whether he was intoxicated or not.

Drinking and driving never mix, when will these certain people learn that. My condolences to the family, friends and fans.

  • beachboater Feb 18, 2:00 p.m.

It never fails, the one guilty of DUI is never hurt seriously.

I've always the Lord looks after drunks and fools.

I certainly hope Raul Herrera, 31 is charged with death by motor vehicle based on the final investigation findings. After all the article states " He faces one count of driving while impaired" and "Investigators said Raul Herrera, 31, swerved into the back of a Nissan Maxima".

Please investigate and report on the immigration status of this "High Point man" Mr. Herrera. Sadly, that is also very relevant.

Here again, driving while impaired- how terrible to think that a person goes out drinking gets behind the wheel and kills someone - lay off the bottle - save a life! - my gosh! I am 46 years old and still respect people out on the road- i never go out drinking/driving - my thoughts and prayers go out to the family of this man.

Prayers going out to this family. I saw on Facebook that he was newly married this past October and had a very young stepdaughter. It's not just sad, it's senseless. If people insist on drinking why can't they stay at home or at least NOT get behind the wheel of a car.

This happens far to often to stand up comedians ... I guess they find themselves out late driving to the next gig at the same time the drunks are driving home.

  • westernwake1 Feb 18, 9:26 a.m.

Sadly, there is nothing funny about this.

  • tdouble232323 Feb 18, 8:52 a.m.

I'm sure this criminal would get severe punishment for what amounts to murder. Probably 2-3 years in jail.....

  • Texan Feb 18, 8:19 a.m.

My sympathies to this nice man's family.
