I truly hope they BOTH get the death penalty and the rest of the state doesn't have to pay for them to sit on death row for years! I pray that the judge and jury are swift with the trail and punishment and that they are both removed from this world and sent straight to hell!

  • OzzzMan Feb 13, 7:52 p.m.

    Plus, cut them extension off!!!

  • OzzzMan Feb 13, 7:47 p.m.

He should be put to death immediately!!! Don't waste our money!!!

  • 1911A1 Feb 13, 7:41 p.m.

This is whats wrong with this country , They should be made examples of !! This just tells the next sorry no good somebody that they'll get to live after doing this. Criminals are more protected than citizens and they wonder why we want our guns.

  • gnewsome1 Feb 13, 7:22 p.m.

I'm with 82nd on this. I personally would be glad to rid the earth of these 2. They don't deserve to breathe the same air as decent folk.

  • SeaDog Feb 13, 6:56 p.m.

there's a special devil set aside for this guy.

  • barney Feb 13, 6:22 p.m.

He also looks like he is eating well in prison! Thats too bad! He has gained weight since he quit doing drugs! I hope his mind is clear so he can remember every last detail of what he has done and the so called mother too!

  • Scubagirl Feb 13, 5:54 p.m.

Hoping his sentence wipes that smirk off his sorry face. He looked proud of himself walking into court.....he's one sick pervert!

  • Dan Cooper Feb 13, 4:58 p.m.

"There's a special place in prison for people like them, and they don't do so well."

This kind of false assumption could possibly allow for complacency of lighter sentencing for child molesters--can we just assume that in prison there are other sick minded violent criminals would don't necessarily have standards?!

  • Whatdaheck Feb 13, 4:28 p.m.

"prosecutors aren't seeking the death penalty against her"

I volunteer to seek the death penalty against her if the prosecutors won't. Will anyone second the motion?

  • JennyB Feb 13, 3:58 p.m.

There's a special place in prison for people like them, and they don't do so well. Tragedy. I remember when this happened...so sad. That poor girl.

  • jackflash123 Feb 13, 3:45 p.m.

"I believe that Davis, Shaniya's biological father should also be charged with contributing to her death. Davis knew that Shaniya's mother was a drug addicted known prositute but he sent the child to her anyway, why, because Davis did not want a biracial child in his home, nor did he want anyone to know that he had fathered a child with a black woman."

    I remember my first beer...

Seriously, you really need to research what you're talking about before spouting off w/ that kind of tripe. This guy LOVED his child dearly and was raising her himself. He allowed the mother visitation b/c she was allegedly clean (and I thought the courts were involved in arranging it, though I could be wrong there).

Charging the father w/ the crime makes as much sense as charging a mom w/ murder if she allows her child to fly on a plane that then crashes. And what evidence do you have that he was racist? You need to back that up.

  • CharmedLife Feb 13, 3:44 p.m.

The whole lot of them should be up for the death penalty. What they forced on this child...there are NO words!!!!! I'm glad that precious angel doesn't have to endure any more torture from anyone. She's back in God's arms now and noone can hurt her! PTL!!!!

  • puzzled Feb 13, 3:39 p.m.

No death penalty for the mother. The man should get life in prison and no parole.

Now what would you say if this was done to your dogs?

  • airbornemonty Feb 13, 3:22 p.m.

I believe that Davis, Shaniya's biological father should also be charged with contributing to her death.

Davis knew that Shaniya's mother was a drug addicted known prositute but he sent the child to her anyway, why, because Davis did not want a biracial child in his home, nor did he want anyone to know that he had fathered a child with a black woman.

  • Relic Feb 13, 3:12 p.m.

    Words don't suffice.

  • SweetB Feb 13, 3:10 p.m.

Yes this mother is directly responsible for the death of Shaniya. No question. The whole MURDER is the most horrible, disgusting, nightmarish thing a person could do to the innocence of a child. I know the Lord has her now. I hope one day soon I will let go of the anger towards these two, which hopes they each sleepless days and nights from the nightmare of their actions, as long as they are allowed to breathe. Yes, she is just as responsible as he is.

  • ctya Feb 13, 3:09 p.m.

If anyone thinks the mother had nothing to do with this is dead wrong. It all started with her and her drug abuse.

  • free2bme Feb 13, 3:06 p.m.

This beautiful little girl deserved so much better than this. Her mother has no heart to have done something so evil. MnNeill and her mother deserve the worst punishment possible. I just hate that our tax dollars have to take care of them for Lord knows how long. We really need some changes made to our judicial system.

  • tomfoolery Feb 13, 3:00 p.m.

82d Airborne-- You hit the nail on the head good sir!

  • ashleyspivey1986 Feb 13, 3:00 p.m.

Pick me to be on this jury!!!!

  • chrisnrali Feb 13, 2:58 p.m.

charmcclainlovesdogs2, could you rewrite that, but use english this time?

  • jackflash123 Feb 13, 2:55 p.m.

"3 years and he still hasn't gone to trial. Ridiculous!"

If you could only choose one, would you rather it be done quickly or correctly? If guilty, he'll never see another free day outside of prison ever again, but I think charging him with every applicable charge is the right thing to do. I don't think that would be possible if they rushed to try him.

  • sayitoutloud Feb 13, 2:49 p.m.

He did not kidnap this child. The "mother" traded this child for a drug debt. They BOTH should get the death penalty. I cannot believe this has yet to go to trial. And NO, i would not want to be on the jury, I would not want to see pictures or hear details of what happened to that sweet child.

  • anastasia Feb 13, 2:23 p.m.

Why isn't this child's mother also charged with death penalty charges? She gave her child over willingly. I'd have charged her with murder, rape of a child, etc.

  • Naysayer Feb 13, 2:15 p.m.

This is one of the saddest, most horrendous stories. All those involved should be punished to the full extent of the law.

  • elizabeth07mh00 Feb 13, 2:02 p.m.

Are you kidding me? You think the mother had nothing to do with this? How many mothers do you know lose track of, or don't know where their 5 year old child is? She's more guilty than the man is because she KNEW what he was going to do to that poor little girl, and she did it to pay off a drug debt. DISPICABLE!!! How any one could rip their own child's innocence and life away like that is unimaginable. She disgusts me.

  • charmcclainlovesdogs2 Feb 13, 1:49 p.m.

up for the death penalty, even though it no longer exists.

absolutely not. The mother did not kidnapped her daugher. There is not proof. But a camera has proof that the man did have the girls right in his arms.

  • ttc248 Feb 13, 1:44 p.m.

@kgbkbg1967: The father was around, but tried to do the right thing and allow the mother visistation. Please don't add to his ongoing grief by accusing him. Bad things happen to good people. IMO, this mother should spend the rest of her life in prison for this despicable act.

  • catwoman2 Feb 13, 1:29 p.m.

What a mother..........she is just as responsible as he is and should also be up for the death penalty, even though it no longer exists.

  • schooldoctor Feb 13, 1:26 p.m.

If the mother does not deserve death then neither does the man. The man would not have had access to the child without the mother, she dies first and then him. Court system needs an abortion.

  • charmcclainlovesdogs2 Feb 13, 1:25 p.m.

No death penalty for the mother. The man should get life in prison and no parole.

  • charmcclainlovesdogs2 Feb 13, 1:25 p.m.

but these two lowlife individuals do not deserve anything but the death penalty.

Your assumptions could be all wrong. It was the man that was caught on camera with the young girl. There was no proof of the mother on that video.

  • charmcclainlovesdogs2 Feb 13, 1:11 p.m.

Why does it takes so long for the courts to bring a case to court? In this length of time, people can forget exactly what happened. I believe they can do a lot better than what they are doing.

  • charmcclainlovesdogs2 Feb 13, 1:08 p.m.

I will never understand why the mother does not face the death penalty.

I really don't believe the mother had anything to do with this man taking the young girl from the home. I hope the courts will prove this. The mother should never get the death penalty. If she played a part, then 30 years. But remember in NC, the death penalty is really not working. Remember Blanche Taylor Moore sitting on death row. She is OK, just older. I believe Blanche will die of natural causes and not by the hands of the state.

  • Proud Young Grandma Feb 13, 1:06 p.m.

They both deserve the death penalty - with no appeal process or anything else that can drag their lives out. Shaniya deserved to live a rich and full life - but these two lowlife individuals do not deserve anything but the death penalty.

  • jjrn Feb 13, 1:01 p.m.

I will never understand why the mother does not face the death penalty. She is guilty of the worst possible offenses a mother could commit. He is guilty too, and the death penalty is appropriate for him. What a beautiful child she was.

  • jscott13 Feb 13, 12:57 p.m.

3 years and he still hasn't gone to trial. Ridiculous!

  • charmcclainlovesdogs2 Feb 13, 12:56 p.m.

I still maintain this man should absolutely get life in prison and no parole, ever! What he did to this child was hidieous that words cannot describe what she went through. May she rest in peace.

  • marciamal1 Feb 13, 12:50 p.m.

It literally breaks my heart to heart this story over and over - how could a mother do this to her child and have no feelings - very sad ending for such a beautiful girl - I agree the mother is trash and so is the murderer. Both need the highest degree of punishment and it being the death penalty. No child should ever experience what this little girl did. What a poor example of a mother- she is just such filth!

  • Mozzie Feb 13, 12:34 p.m.

kgbkg: her father was around. He was her primary caregiver, along with his mother (Shaniya's grandmother). He was a great dad who was trying to give the mother visitation time, and look what happens.

  • Mozzie Feb 13, 12:33 p.m.

@kgbkbg1967: Her father WAS around. Maybe educated yourself on what's happened before making such biting comments. He actually had had custody of Shaniya most of her short life. He was a good parent, and wanted what was best for her. SO, when the mother, a known drug user, began begging him for overnight visitation and shared custody because she "wanted to be a mother" and was clean, he gave in. He gave in because he wanted his daughter to know her mother. Obviously the mother is trash and beneath contempt, but he was just trying to see the best in her and do the right thing.

  • anotherbabyboomer Feb 13, 12:32 p.m.

Everytime I see a picture of that poor child, I think how could anyone hurt such a precious child. Being a mother myself, I cannot believe how a mother could give her child knowing what was going to happen to her. She is worst than the monster that killed her in my book.

  • alilred Feb 13, 12:31 p.m.

I really wish I could be on this jury!!

  • kgbkgb1967 Feb 13, 11:50 a.m.

RE:I cannot even comprehend the horror this sweet child had to endure, and what her father has to endure now that she's gone.

Maybe her father should have been around in the first place.

  • 82d Airborne Feb 13, 11:50 a.m.

These folks should be executed the same way the child was, choke the life out of them on national TV, maybe that will stop some of the hanous crimes against kids, there should be NO rights allowed to anyone that harms a child and if the child dies due to what was done by the criminals, then the death penalty should be the only recourse and at execution the perps should be televised as they scream for help that no one will listen to, just like that child! Eye for an eye, so let it be written, so let it be done! We are headed towards that end soon enough, crime is the #1 job in this country now, from white collar to just plain thieves, add these sick crimes to it without being able to stop them and society will begin to look for its own brand of justice, as a father I would die making sure my kids are safe and I will KILL if given the opportunity to protect them! I volunteer to choke the stuffing out of all involved in the painful life and death this child endured.

  • kimisufu Feb 13, 11:31 a.m.

I cannot even comprehend the horror this sweet child had to endure, and what her father has to endure now that she's gone.

I hope Shaniya's ghost haunts these monsters every day. That's the nicest thing I can say.

  • Scubagirl Feb 13, 11:27 a.m.

GOOD pile on the charges, maybe that way he'll NEVER get out of prison again.
