Not exactly sure what you were trying to say, but I do know that Columbia SC has a higher murder rate than Chicago.

I hope they find these criminals. No where is safe anymore. Don't carry a lot of cash on you; not even your credit or debit card. Carry enough to catch the bus or cab. Be safe.

    Media censoring is wrong.

"Why didn't WRAL include the description that was included on the NC State Police release?" - COMMENT

The media censors their news due to many reasons, probably, but one would be to avoid eliciting racial comments on this forum, but greater would be to please groups that don't want descriptions that fit stereotypes. WRAL will not reveal those groups who pressure them to censor reports.

Strangely, the sex of the offenders and victims are freely given, as are the age range. That's sexism and ageism, if telling the sex is racism.

We do know the color of the car, if that helps you be on the look out when walking about.

I'm against censorship of reporting. I'd like to see follow up reporting to see how successful criminals were in school (grade/course of study/reading level), if their fathers were in the home, age of mother at time of first birth, substance abuse in the home.

With this, we could see what to do to prevent or predict crime.

  • Mr. Middle of the Road Feb 13, 10:42 a.m.

The car was from South Carolina. Thats the state our current governor and the republican party want us to emulate. Guess our march to third world status as a state has started. Hey, maybe we can set up charter universitys in peoples homes.

"Why didn't WRAL include the description that was included on the NC State Police release?"

I've noticed they rarely include the description if it involves race. Political correctness or something.

This is a diservice to the public at large who won't be able to identify an armed robber, who is still armed and might rob and kill someone else.

Why didn't WRAL include the description that was included on the NC State Police release?

Because the nationwide media directive is to call them "teens" or "youths"

Scary, I'm glad the student was not harmed, but am sorry this young man had to be victimized in this manner. Hope they get the cretins who feel it's OK to take what is not theirs rather than earn it themselves.

  • Phyxius1 Feb 13, 9:10 a.m.

Its a common thing in Raleigh and NC state lately..Glad the student wasn't hurt.

Why didn't WRAL include the description that was included on the NC State Police release?

" At approximately 11:30 p.m. on 2/11/2013, a male student was walking south on Dan Allen Drive approaching Fraternity Court when a blue or purple colored small compact vehicle approached him and stopped. *A black male wearing a black tobogan and navy blue jeans* got out of the vehicle and pointed a silver colored handgun at him and then demanded the student's personal belongings. The suspect then got back in the *vehicle which was occupied by 2 other black males* and they fled the area heading east on Western Blvd. A possible license plate number is South Carolina plate number HQU-804."

at least you can tell your professor, "i did my homework but the robber stole it!"

    thank goodness nobody was hurt

NC State is another gun free zone criminals just love. How come they get to disobey gun free zones and not the law abiding?

  • westernwake1 Feb 12, 6:10 p.m.

A description of the perps would help. It is time to put these type of criminals away for long sentences before they kill a student near the N.C. State campus.

  • peace2u Feb 12, 5:51 p.m.

    Description of perps?
