Jimmytwotimes, I can assure you that Anna's dad probably never gave her any good advice... In fact he was probably encouraging the friendship/relationship because it meant more money in his pocket for his prescription drug dealership... She has not had a good role model since her mom died and she went to live with her dad. Guess it shows also... He has 2 daughters... One was in a car accident while a drug deal went bad and now his youngest is heading to prison. I think all involved should go to jail. I would have Snitched also..... Anna is my cousin and speak from experience. The solutions arent in gun control, it starts with good parenting and and stop sparing the rod.... Beat these kids if they need it and stop with your time outs and letting things go. If Anna's dad had of had that kind of treatment then he would have set a better example and maybe this could have been avoided!!!!!! Talk to someone who doesnt know!!!!!!!!

  • paultaylorsr100 Feb 11, 6:07 p.m.

Repects to the deceased's family. If gun control had been in effect this would not have happened. (Yeah-right!!!)

  • driverkid3 Feb 11, 5:27 p.m.

NashCountyNative:::I taught two of the suspects in middle school and the sad thing is...that they have the ability to be so much more than this....but they have thrown it all away.

The might have had the ability, but I bet dollars to donuts, they didn't have the support at home. You teachers can only do so much.

  • rargos Feb 11, 4:56 p.m.

One of the suspects was charged with first degree murder last year and is still walking around shooting at people 4 months later.

Our criminal justice system is a joke. I used to say that you had to kill someone before the system actually tried to put you away ... now it appears you have to kill at least TWO people ...

But let's first concentrate on banning guns rather than locking up dangerous people like these.

  • bevknight23 Feb 11, 4:55 p.m.

I want the death penalty for anyone involved in the murder of another. Want them to have a speedy, but fair trial, if guilty, they should be put to death within 3 years after their verdict. Stop wasting my taxdollars on these bums!!

  • sunshine1040 Feb 11, 4:34 p.m.

Keep the cowards locked up WHY cowards They don't even have the courage to face their victims before firing Too bad they have never heard or seen another way of settling differences such as talking or even a one on one fist fight where somebody might end up with a bloody nose but all would be able to walk away

  • jmrado47 Feb 11, 4:18 p.m.

I am sure these miscreants have a criminal record as long as their arm. They are probably repeat offenders and should be permanently removed from the streets. North Carolina needs to pass the two strikes law which is on the books in Georgia. Also there should be the stop and frisk law such as the one in NYC. Contact Governor McCrory to demand a tougher stance against crime.

  • debnamdavis Feb 11, 4:10 p.m.

May God Bless all families involved. Its just bad all the way around.

  • debnamdavis Feb 11, 4:01 p.m.

    Violence is not the answer.

  • streetglide Feb 11, 4:01 p.m.

so true lumberman, I just find it so hard that our criminal justice system does not see it,, they run um through the courts and then just deal with the next case, put thier results on to others to deal with,, " not my job". Attitude. I guess they feel like I do,, same thing I see in the news everyday, and the beat goes on,, make more money at crime than you can a honest job,, "if you can find one other than Wal-MArt or MacDonalds

  • sllenterprises Feb 11, 3:59 p.m.

Once again, same stuff, different day! Another headline about a senseless killing and everyone's blaming video games, politics, black people, white people, gun laws, lack of gun laws, etc! Has it ever occured to anyone that violent criminals are just plain unintelligent and can't be rationalized like us normal non-violent people? I've said for years the reason why we often ponder why people kill others for no reason is because an intelligent person can make rational decisions without leading to violence but these people can't! Our society has become so politically correct that we've made it taboo to call these people what they are-stupid! Only a stupid person would purposely take the life of another human being in cold blood because of a dispute!

  • YeaOh Feb 11, 3:59 p.m.

If you dig deep enough into crimes like this, and don't stop at guns, you'll find drugs to be the fundamental reason for almost ALL of these crimes. We won't fix drugs because too much drug money directs our government's actions, from DC to your local PD. Remember, he who has the gold makes the rules.

  • NotUrTypicalAmerican Feb 11, 3:54 p.m.

When will jokers ever learn to just stay home and leave people the heck alone?

  • BlueForever Feb 11, 3:53 p.m.

"then your belief is wrong. Because again, violent crime rates are LOWER today. Further, they're even lower than they are here in nations that play significantly more video games than we do."
Not so: off the FBI stats website:
Preliminary figures indicate that, as a whole, law enforcement agencies throughout the nation reported an increase of 1.9 percent in the number of violent crimes brought to their attention for the first 6 months of 2012 when compared with figures reported for the same time in 2011. The violent crime category includes murder, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

  • gnewsome1 Feb 11, 3:29 p.m.

Do the crime, do the time.

  • SFSOLDIER Feb 11, 3:20 p.m.

Why not charged with murder?? A person died in the act of the crime. They should all be charged with murder....

  • cpmccols Feb 11, 3:18 p.m.

debnamdavis: I stand corrected. They were charged with attempted murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

  • jackal10782 Feb 11, 3:17 p.m.

When Joe Biden was asked why isn't the BATF prosecuting fraudulent form 4473 cases and these gun shops that lose way to much inventory he responded "They don't have the manpower."

If the BATF does not have the resources to enforce the laws on the books how can they enforce more laws? The logical step would be to increase manpower to a level that allows the BATF to enforce the laws on the books. Aren't we in a recession? Aren't experienced law enforcement officers being laid off? Hey Joe these good men need a job!

  • cpmccols Feb 11, 3:16 p.m.

debnamdavis: The murder charge trumps the attempted murder charge. That's why they weren't also charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling.

ltaybron38: I assume you have evidence of your allegations and have brought it to authorities? If not, you're not doing anything to help curb the violence. It is the mentality of "snitches get stitches" that gets innocent people such as this woman killed. If her son really murdered your brother and you have evidence that would have put him in jail, I would hold you partly responsible for her murder. Those teens would not have shot into her house if her son was not there and ALL of this would have been avoided. Senseless violence and people in communities are doing nothing to help stop it...

  • lumberman Feb 11, 3:04 p.m.

rebelyell55 If prison was a place like it was many years ago people might fear it. But todays prisons are not a place to be feared it is a place for family reunions and a place to work out a place to learn how not to get caught the next time. For many it is an improvement from the life they were living. Nice clean bed three meals a day and no work what so ever.

  • Crumps Br0ther Feb 11, 3:04 p.m.

ltaybron38, so why isn't Burnice Antwon Hinnant in jail???? I'm sorry for your loss.
    kimisufu

probably needed the bed space for a non-violent drug offender

  • Nothing Like an Old Dog Feb 11, 2:45 p.m.

Clearly another example for the leftwingers to shout "gun control, gun control." Yup, a criminal is going to shoot someone BUT they would never violate yet another gun law. What a flawed mentality! Stop blaming guns, ammo, knives, cars, video games, the school systems, teachers, the lottery, super-sized sugary drinks, or whatever straw y'all are reaching for. It's all about personal accountability. Until the punishment matches - or better yet - exceeds the crime, this type of senseless violence will only increase.

  • debnamdavis Feb 11, 2:37 p.m.

two wrongs dont make it right. She didnt die for her sons mistake she died because someone took the law into their own hands and they made that mistake!! Was it a mistake or they just didnt care who they were shooting they were just shooting. Like I said, "Regardless two wrongs dont make it right!!" It just got to stop!

  • Rebelyell55 Feb 11, 2:30 p.m.

Think they had a hard life before, they'll be learning new skills.

  • kimisufu Feb 11, 2:25 p.m.

ltaybron38, so why isn't Burnice Antwon Hinnant in jail???? I'm sorry for your loss.

  • junkmail5 Feb 11, 2:06 p.m.

Whats wrong with these teens now adays--my times were so much better in the 60's, 70's and 80's - never heard of this nonsense-marciamal1

Actually violent crime rates were significantly HIGHER in those days.

You just didn't have the internet to tell you about it.

i believe it's all stemming from these video games they play today- marciamal1

then your belief is wrong. Because again, violent crime rates are LOWER today. Further, they're even lower than they are here in nations that play significantly more video games than we do.

  • airbornemonty Feb 11, 1:57 p.m.

I say these criminals crossed the line into adulthood and should be dealt a prison sentence the same as adults and that includes the 18 year old young man and the 17 year old girl.

But alas, time will tell when they go in front of a panicky jury and a namby-pamby judge.

  • ltaybron38 Feb 11, 1:51 p.m.

See what you don't know is that the son of the mother that got killed also killed my brother on September 2, 2012... Sorry to the mother that lost her life over her sons stupidity..

  • Minarchist Feb 11, 1:06 p.m.

Whats wrong with these teens now adays--my times were so much better in the 60's, 70's and 80's - never heard of this nonsense and i believe it's all stemming from these video games they play today - shooting everyone in the game. - now, this teen has got to learn a lesson and be charged as an adult and probably spend time in jail and live with a record.

GEEZ I wonder why you never heard of all this is the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Couldnt be technology could it? Ever read the Old Testement? Violence and ignorance has been around forever.

  • NashCountyNative Feb 11, 1:01 p.m.

This is just sad all the way around. The poor mother is dead and 4 young people have thrown their lives away over something so stupid. I taught two of the suspects in middle school and the sad thing is...that they have the ability to be so much more than this....but they have thrown it all away. Reading stuff likes makes you wonder why....

  • debnamdavis Feb 11, 12:48 p.m.

If they were after the son then why isnt it also 2 counts of attempted murder because there were two other people in the house in which they could have been shot too. No its not a black and white issue its just being cowards, heartless, dumb, and just a shame. The boy they were targeting mom is now dead. Now he is going to live with...it should have been him. They not only killed but that the mind of the son they were after that is a young man mad, upset, hurt, confused, angry, etc. The only child to loose his mom.... these goons took her precious life off some bull. I would throw away the key on these looney goons!

  • teleman60 Feb 11, 12:38 p.m.

Where did the guns come from?? Trace the serial numbers. We need to start someplace and find out where these kids are getting the guns.

  • mikeymom70 Feb 11, 12:09 p.m.

Some people leave the dumbest comments. This is not a black or white issue. It is the issue of people having no value of human life. I don't care what color you are..you have no right to take someone's life. Color is not the issue...morality is.

  • Jimmytwotimes Feb 11, 11:51 a.m.

Well ana perry, looks like the guys you thought were so nice were not so nice after all. Now you face first degree murder charges, i'm sure your daddy told you not to hang out with these types of people. young girls are so trusting and this is what happens.

  • nckidd29 Feb 11, 11:41 a.m.

  • trose4 Feb 11, 11:37 a.m.

Another case for tighter gun control. Yep, if there were more laws these fine folks would definitely abide by them.
