In reading this story again, I have two good questions:

1). A complaint was received Feb. 1st. One of the dogs had died by the time investigators had arrived. Why did the neighbor (or whoever called the complaint in) WAIT SO LONG? The dogs were obviously in dire straits and had been, to be that bad off!

2). What happened to the dog that was taken to Moore County Animal Shelter? (I hope the dog is saved, adopted and LOVED the rest of it's life)!

Punishment to fit the crime. Plain and simple.

If this is true, this woman needs to be banned for life from ever owning an animal of any kind and if she has children they need to be immediately removed from the home. If she starves dogs, I'm sure her children (if any) also get the same treatment.

zenonx6, you are correct. Years ago, (Prairie days) dogs were tied to the back of wagons, as families moved from place to place. The dogs had to walk behind the wagon, in any kind of weather. That was ok then, and accepted. And it should have been! Now, however, times have changed. And that's ok. I'm glad times have changed!

What is WRONG with some people!? Good grief! Did it not occur to her that...........gasp.........dogs DO eat? This was intentional. She knew exactly what she was doing. She knew right from wrong - or, ABUSE, as in this case.

This woman should NOT go to jail. She should NOT pay a fine. She should, instead, be tied to a tree and not fed for.......I don't know a week, two. Three months? She can't imagine the physical and mental/emotional pain, those dogs went through. She can't imagine it, because she's never known it. One day, she will!

Disgusting! Sick! Irrespoinsible! But most of all, just plain SORRY!

Now that's animal cruelty. The other guy shot a dog that wasn't his for reasons unknown. That's not right but if an animal is suffering everyone don't have 50 to 100 dollars for putting it down. Some think that the shooting of deer is cruelty but if it weren't for hunters we'd be over run with deer. It's getting that way with dogs and cats out there.. Look at your local shelters list. People aren't responsible with pets and don't get them fixed. Shooting is and should be okay for poorer people with animals that need to be put down. It's done every day somewhere in this country. Wild or domestic.

Trixie!!! Thank you!! Well said!

All dogs want to do is show unconditional love to the owners and this is how they are treated in return. All the animals that die at the hands of abusive owners makes me sick. If you don't want the responsibility of a pet DONT GET ONE !!!! If you already hae one BRING IT TO A SHELTER !!!! At least at a shelter they will be cared for even though the end may not turn out well. Wise up people animal abuse will not be tolerated any longer and if you suspect some is abusing an animal make that call. Don't wait until long or all the animals could end up like this. The only comfort is there is only love in heaven for these animal no abuse

There's a special place in heck for people that abuse animals.

@NC Cutie because animals love you unconditionally, people don't. How would she feel being tied to a tree without food and water? I am so sick of seeing animals tied up to trees and usually without a whole lot of human contact. If you can't care for and love your pet, don't get one. In addition to having the book thrown at her, she should be made to do community service at the local SPCA. Sorry excuse for a human.
