"the gop will do exactly what they did in 2001 and begin the process of completely destroying NC and bankrupting us all." teleman60

The Dems (Perdue,Easley,Hunt) beat the GOP to destroying NC. What you see now are the Republicans trying to clean up the mess of decades of unbridled Democrat rule.

the gop will do exactly what they did in 2001 and begin the process of completely destroying NC and bankrupting us all.

We'll see how things go as they fire all the regulators and hire their cronies to take pay and look the other way!!

  • Cary Progressive Feb 6, 12:28 p.m.

Even the far right GOP governor thinks denying Medicaid to poor people is deplorable politics. It won't matter. The bloodthirsty tea party types want to destroy the lives of all those uppity poor and middle class people in NC who voted against them. Even Art Pope thinks these GOP goons are too far right. Blowback will be harsh in next election.....

Seems like the GOP are setting up a one party state run by big business. We are getting more like China every day. Grand Union

I thought you liked China, they ban guns for all citizens.

If you can't do anything but trash this state and country you should exercise your dual citizenship.

These conservatives are going to reap what they are sowing in the future. They believe once they're in power they will stay that way; well, change will happen and probably sooner than they think. When it does, all these little social engineering plans they're coming up with will be turned on their heads, and they will all start screaming "hey, we don't like being on the short end of this stick!". If the legislature can appoint/fire commission members, that means we're going to see ultra-conservatives in charge of our coast, our industries, our environment, our education, our inspection agencies, and our employment rights.

Basically, we're going to turn into Kansas, or Mississippi. And that will be a shame.

READ MY FONT: FIRE ever single one of the sitting existing board members-- do it at once if not sooner. this state needs an overhaul, a purge from top to bottom. it has needed a political enema for what the last 100 yrs?

  • computer trainer Feb 6, 10:23 a.m.

Finally. Let's LIMIT those terms. Tired of these commissioners drawing these HUGE salaries for doing NOTHING.

  • yankee1 Feb 6, 9:44 a.m.

With Democrats out of power, there will now be more vacant jail cells available in NC. Intelligent leadership and Democrat control? Two phrases totally counter to each other.

  • RadioDJ Feb 6, 9:36 a.m.

This left wing liberal is applauding all that the Republicans are doing. They are just being republicans, they can't help themselves, and soon enough, we'll return our state to some intelligent leadership under Democratic control for another 140 years. Just think of all the caves for sale once the regressives begin fleeing the state.

It appears the Governor and GOP members of the General Assembly are not only acting like "kids in a candy store", but are staying there after hours. They are moving at lighting speed to insure the only appointed individuals serving in NC Government will reflect their ideas and points of view. So much for reaching across the isle and compromising on issues. Perhaps Pat McCrory instead of being called Governor of North Carolina should be addressed as Governor of NC Republicans. The GOP legislators in the General Assembly could go by the titles of RW (right wing) Rep. and RW Sen. Together they can and will disenfranchise a large segment of the NC population.

"The brutality with which the Democrats cleaned house of all hires during the administration of Jim Martin makes this look like child's play."

So two wrongs make a right in the "Stupid Party" world?

When Duke Power's rate increase requests go through like poo through a goose, you will have our new Tea Party lagislature and Duke Power alum governor to thank.

You mean like Obama's tax increases and his hidden Obamacare costs where the CBO estimates the average family will pay $20,000 annually for a policy? You're whining to the wrong audience friend! Turn down your power consumption and you won't have an issue. trysolar panels. ROFL!

  • North Carolina Home Feb 6, 8:47 a.m.

yankee1, yes it is a lesson in the old adage "what goes around, comes around"

Any Democrat that was around during the beginning of the second Hunt administration should not utter a word of criticism.

The brutality with which the Democrats cleaned house of all hires during the administration of Jim Martin makes this look like child's play.

  • superman Feb 6, 8:44 a.m.

They should do something about the deal with the Dix property. The state gave it away and then they going to have to pay rent.

  • Ol Forrester Feb 6, 8:44 a.m.

I hope someone keeps an eye on USA InvestCo to see if this too goes bankrupt after a 9 to 1 approval.

    yankee1

Democrats have never cleared Republican appointees off of state boards and commissions en masse like this - they were allowed to serve out their terms.

  • The Yoda Feb 6, 8:27 a.m.

OK, countdown, 3 - 2- 1 - Time for all the little left-wing extremist wienies to start their daily sob-fest.

  • superman Feb 6, 8:25 a.m.

They read about The Wake County Board of Education and learned their lesson well. They got rid of Dr. Burns and then did the same with General Tata.
