And that would be another Super Bowl ring with Richmond County roots running through it. Ravens 34 49ers 31 Congratulations Dannell Ellerbe!
Post by jgunn
Sure am. Growing up all my friends were either Steelers or Cowboys fans and I hated them both. "The Catch" made me a Niners fan as a yungun. It was easy in the 80's and early 90's to be a Niners fan, but I paid for it the last 15+ years...lol. Last year was especially tough, essentially being one special teams blunder away from making it. I agree that Jim is certainly more animated and "in your face" and that is exactly what San Fran needed. I tend to favor those coaching personalities, a la Fedora. I agree that it should be a great game. Both offenses have big play capabilities and both defenses are hard hitting. It's funny that John is the quieter of the two, yet the Ravens are known for their "chirping" and "trash talking", I think a lot of that is carry over from Billick. Part of me wants it to be a good, close game, but my nerves say I want SF to win in a blow out :-)

So true, korn. I see you're a 49'ers fan. I don't have a real horse in this race (I'm a Panthers fan), but I'm pulling for the Ravens partly because John seems to be the nicer Harbaugh. I think it will be the best SB we've seen in a while.

nice little profile, glossing over the fact he's a complete bigot
Post by jgunn
I commented on another story that the media days should just be done away with. The two main stories that have come out are this one and the Ray Lewis stories, both are negative. If you try, you can find some light-hearted and fun stories, but they're not getting the focus that these are. When someone speaks their opinion and it's not politically correct, they almost always end up apologizing. I DO NOT agree with what he said, but he gave his opinion and that's his right, as he did not threaten anyone. As for the Lewis situation, why bring it to the forefront a few days before the Super Bowl? If it's such a big issue, it should have been addressed earlier and he should have been penalized IF he was found to be in violation of any kind. Then, to bring up the situation that happened some 13 years ago is just ridiculous. It is just as much the media's responsibility to report positive stories as it is negative stories, but it seems the negative ones are easier to push and get more of a response, sadly.

Thanks, BB5!

So now he has channeled his anger issues into hating homosexuals....... But, you know.....he didn't mean to offend anyone.....

Agreed! The sad part is that the players play along & attempt to answer some of their stupid questions. Happy Birthday!

Good stuff, 82nd...would be pulling for the Ravens as well if not for Captain Drama.

I was on the coaching staff with Chris. He didn't even play organized football until one of the coaches drove him for drivers ed in the summer and suggested he try out. Chris was a pain in the @##, but he worked hard. He was in the weight room year round. No he is not dumb. He may not be eloquent but he made decent grades in high school. Compared to most professional athletes, he was a rhodes scholar in high school. By the way the last time Richmond and Garner played was a garner loss in the state championship in 98' and Garner defeated Richmond on the way to the state title in 87'.

I was wondering why it took so long for WRAL to spotlight Chris. I still would rather see the Ravens win.
