State is hardly a bubble team. I was surprised to see Warren mouth off at Howell; I didn't think Warren was like that. At any rate, don't count out your Pack. There's a lot of basketball left to be played. Most teams are playing for a berth in the Dance at this point in the year.
JohnnyVoodoo Jan 29, 9:35 p.m.
So according to your statement, if State beat Carowhina and they suck, then what does that make the tarholes then?
Gunnstigator Jan 29, 9:33 p.m.
I don't think losing to UVA was a result of any "hangover" from beating Carolina. State played well, and did well even without Brown for 3/4th of the game. Between Brown going out and Leslie playing with the flu, on the road, State put up a good fight, and only lost by 3.
All this said, Virginia does deserve credit for winning this game. They have a preddt dang good record in the ACC.
rlewis2 Jan 29, 9:31 p.m.
"BREAKING NEWS" on WRAL. State sucks after big wins with dook and Carolina........
FatherofFour Jan 29, 9:30 p.m.
Agreed. Everyone keeps pointing out that State was picked to finish 1st in the conference, but that was by the media and coaches. I, and I think a lot of other fans were a bit skeptical of that prediction. Even though we are now 16-5, I am happy with that as opposed to previous years. 5-3 in conference halfway through is not bad either. Sure, I would have loved to have went undefeated, been ranked #1 in the country all season, but I never expected it to happen. UVA played a good game tonight. They used their style of play to their advantage, and the fact that Brown was out made it even easier for them to do. If Brown can come back healthy, I still expect us to have a respectable season, make the NCAA tourney and win a couple of games. Speaking as someone who has been a Pack fan for many years, that is a great year. I am happy with Coach Gott and expect him to continue to recruit and improve the team over the next few years. I, for one, am looking to the future, and not expecting an overnight national championship.
Lux Libertas Jan 29, 9:30 p.m.
State college won their basketball "Super Bowl" on Saturday night. Their season has likely peaked. They should have rushed the court when they lad the chance LOL
Obamacare rises Jan 29, 9:29 p.m.
Wow, NC State sucks. A team like Creighton or VA Commonwealth will dispose of these pretenders in the NCAA tournament.
mxteam44 Jan 29, 9:28 p.m.
Dang! Didn't get to see but the last 4 minutes of the game. Looked like Zo was really missed tonight. The crazy ACC season continues!
tayled Jan 29, 9:25 p.m.
I've been saying that for 2+ years now. With his almost automatic touch at the line, if he would get to the line, the Pack would pull some of these close games out.
FatherofFour Jan 29, 9:24 p.m.
I never said I could communicate with him. I am not sure if he was even able to process my post. I just notice him on here constantly talking junk about every team in the conference it seems. I can't actually figure out who he pulls for or if he even knows that he is on a sports thread. I just find people who ACT dumb to try to derive attention from others very humorous.
ncsu4me Jan 29, 9:23 p.m.
for ncstate...just dress up and play out the season you are a bunch of overated players with an oerated coach...
hp277 Jan 29, 9:22 p.m.
Sauras69 Jan 29, 9:20 p.m.
Both teams played hard with great heart tonight. UVA has to be congratulated. State did miss Brown.
ncsu4me Jan 29, 9:19 p.m.
if youu think this was bad wait until next year..we are a top 35 team and no better..it is the coach and the team..no intensity and no desire to win..as announcer said ufa was picked to be 7th and state 1st...well something is wrong within the ncstate program...
FatherofFour Jan 29, 9:17 p.m.
What I do not understand is why he does not use his reputation to his advantage. He is also one of the best free throw shooters in the country. If he gets the ball outside the arc, and attempts a shot, there is always someone flying out at him. If he would use a pump fake once in a while, he could jump into the defense, draw the contact, and at a minimum, go the line for 3 shots. I was hoping he would try that at the end of this game. He had time, but instead, he forced a contested shot that did not even draw iron.
tayled Jan 29, 9:17 p.m.
That's part of the systemic problem with this team. No ball movement, poor movement without the ball and when someone gets trapped or double teamed, everyone stands around waiting to see what will happen instead of trying to get open and coming to help. Case in point, Vandenberg picked up his dribble near the top of the key and was easily trapped. But no one tried to come to the ball or to get in a passing lane either.
iron fist Jan 29, 9:15 p.m.
nothing funny about it How do you communicate with someone who speaks like that?
JohnnyVoodoo Jan 29, 9:14 p.m.
You mean like the tarholes epic fail against the Pack over the weekend?
FatherofFour Jan 29, 9:14 p.m.
I think that is what Gott had planned, but if you watch the last play, Leslie seemed to set a lazy screen, if you could actually call it that, which left Wood with a very contested shot.
ugottabkiddinme Jan 29, 9:13 p.m.
lol..why would they rush the floor when they just beat State...i mean big whoop!
Luv2Camp Jan 29, 9:13 p.m.
Why couldn't we isolate Wood and CJ on one side of the floor and let these two guys play catch until one has an open look. Such common sense ball movement seems to elude the NCSU coaching staff time after time after time.
Miami should have no problem on Sat.
tayled Jan 29, 9:13 p.m.
Every game that is on TV, they talk about how great a shooter Wood is. He is mediocre at best. If he gets in a groove, he can be very good. But if he is even slightly off, he is not even the best shooter in the conference, and the announcers fawn all over him saying he is one of the best. I have not seen it lately.
JohnnyVoodoo Jan 29, 9:12 p.m.
Considering the fact that you're a bench warmer from Middlesex tells me that you probably know a thing or two about sucking.
Top 5 Beaters Jan 29, 9:12 p.m.
epic fail !!!!!!!!
THEBIGREDWOLF Jan 29, 9:12 p.m.
Put that in your pipe and light it brainless
FatherofFour Jan 29, 9:11 p.m.
FYI - Warren is normally a bench player, and what really SUCKS is your English! The sad thing is that you probably have a college education, but somehow think that typing in Ebonics somehow makes you cool. However, your posts do make me laugh. Pleese keeps thems up!
tayled Jan 29, 9:10 p.m.
Will not make excuses, perhaps we could have won if Brown had not gotten injured. But regardless, our play tonight was pathetic at best. Our lack of team chemistry really showed tonight, especially with the camera catching Warren mouthing off to Howell. Better get this team in line or they will become a bubble team at best. Too many head cases on this team for them to win consistently.
Everyone in the building knew who was going to take that last shot. Why could we not set a double ball screen and let Wood run around it or even better, use Wood as a decoy and let the defense follow him and get Purvis open for a 3.
ncguy Jan 29, 9:10 p.m.
Looking forward to Miami bit the pack again
Pack never seems to get up for these road games
It's getting so common that the home team doesn't
Even rush the floor anymore
THEBIGREDWOLF Jan 29, 9:10 p.m.
ugottabkiddinme Jan 29, 9:09 p.m.
LMAO.....they were making up for all the lack of calls against the wusspack saturday....i mean, with all the free steps leslie got the other night he could have walked to VA tonight....yep..the world has righted itself, pack fans are whining about the refs are out to get'em..haha
iron fist Jan 29, 9:08 p.m.
One coach K is enough
FatherofFour Jan 29, 9:08 p.m.
You need to move into the 21st century and stop watching the games on that old black and white TV I think.
mojridingrb Jan 29, 9:08 p.m.
I done told you peeps cowpattie Uus team sucks, warren sucks, the bench players suck, the coach sucks, picked to win ACC and they will at best get a NIT invite ya know why - cause THEY SUCK!!!
JohnnyVoodoo Jan 29, 9:08 p.m.
This is the consistency and level of intensity (or lack of) that I commented on earlier. No need to sugar coat it about injuries, the flu, etc. We got beat. Give the Virginia Cavaliers all the credit in the world. They did what they had to do to win the game. Congratulations to them.
PackFan1983 Jan 29, 9:07 p.m.
No one is crying. Proud of my guys for fighting through adversity. Everyone here is forgetting that Va is a good team, too. They win if they keep their opponent under 60 pts. They did that tonight. We had 4 chances to take the lead at the end and faltered. Good experience for rookies that will payoff in March.
THEBIGREDWOLF Jan 29, 9:06 p.m.
Gottfried let the refs play him for a fool tonight. Great game by VA but too much contact an not enough calls. If Gottfried gets loud early maybe a different outcome.
Coaches have to protect their players.
jrt0856 Jan 29, 9:04 p.m.
He almost knocked he down, practically decapitated him. Point is he should not have been anywhere near him. Dumb play!
daren9 Jan 29, 9:04 p.m.
Typical State fans. When you lose it is because of injury or the refs fault. Did McAdoos 2 quick fouls hurt them Saturday night, absolutely. It is all part of the game. The Pack will finish 3 or less in the conference.
FatherofFour Jan 29, 9:04 p.m.
Since we finally beat you guys this year, are you going to form a "anybody but State" club with all your little friends?
ugottabkiddinme Jan 29, 9:04 p.m.
Looks like a 4 game skid is in the works for the wolfpack...this was a must win
wjuliang Jan 29, 9:04 p.m.
Yikes. Really thought the Pack would win this even with CJ down.
This is the type of team the Pack will face in the 2nd round of the ncaa's....
jblee2 Jan 29, 9:02 p.m.
Not an excuse--we lost the game. Congrats UVA. This one is as tough as any.
However, if you DO NOT THINK that having Zo would have made a difference, you're crazy.
FatherofFour Jan 29, 9:02 p.m.
I wouldn't go that far. If Brown had not got injured, this could have had a completely different result. Regardless, it was another road loss. Not making excuses, but when you play a 6 man rotation, there is NO room for error. I was worried that this could happen at any point during the season. The road for the pack is not going to get any easier. Miami coming up this weekend, and Duke in Cameron next week. Those were going to be really tough games anyway, but without Brown, we don't even have a shot. All that said, I am actually more proud of the way the team played through the adversity tonight that I was with the way they ended the game against UNC. I fully expected us to be blown out after Brown went down. What really sucks is that we don't even get a chance to get revenge on the Cavs in Raleigh. My hope is that we meet Maryland in the 1st round of the ACCT and then play Virginia in the 2nd. I am sure if we make it that far, Duke or Miami will be waiting for us.
Luv2Camp Jan 29, 9:02 p.m.
Gottfried seems to have the TOB flare. NCSU is underperforming expectations. The difference is that Gott can at least recruit.
ACC22 Jan 29, 9:01 p.m.
I wonder if injuries matter this season. I recall last year when UNC had injuries to Strickland Marshall McDonald and Henson injuries didnt matter. They were just excuses for cry babies. I wonder who will cry tonight about an injury to a key player?
daren9 Jan 29, 9:01 p.m.
You will get your chance in two weeks at Cameron.
Sauras69 Jan 29, 9:00 p.m.
One of the best games that I've seen so far this year. State played great even with out Brown. Tough luck State fans.
Gunnstigator Jan 29, 9:00 p.m.
Miami sure would have a lot to say, as far as best in the ACC in ACC play. Undefeated. No other team in the ACC can say that.
iron fist Jan 29, 8:59 p.m.
Another road loss
PackFan1983 Jan 29, 8:59 p.m.
Great game pack w/o brown. Leslie played great under the weather. And nice to see the Dookies and Holes visiting here. Seems you guys are still irritated that we whooped you so bad!
