"Why does a Wake County Magistrate ask "Am I boring you?" That was unprofessional at best an most likely an attempt to create conflict and emotional distress in someone who was arrested. Its not Samantha Jones job to punish people or judge people." - LocalYokel

why are you being sympathetic to someone who almost killed somebody? Liberal logic. If someone breaks a law they must have had a good reason for it and just need a hug to make everything alright. Libs soft on crime and then they apologize to the perp for making society so hard on them.

  • johnny2times Jan 29, 12:45 p.m.

Lol. The libs are making this woman out to be a victim. The magistrate should have slapped the taste out of this woman mouth as soon as she started rolling her eyeballs. Just another sorry example of the entitlement crowd.

    Bingo!!

Probably because she wasn't taking the situation serious enough...and her body language showed it.....why do you think the magistrate would say something like that? Unreal..it must be nice to live in your world where you think people are treated with as someone said "kids gloves".

emotional distress????????? really???????? maybe that's the problem here, you don't see the problem!what about the distress of the guy she ran down with the car, oh the distress of what? not seeing through the windshield?

  • 42ITUS Jan 29, 11:54 a.m.

A magistrate's job is to listen to the evidence and make a decision regarding the truth of the allegations. If appropriate, based upon many factors, a bond is set. The main issue is to guarantee the defendant's appearance in court. As a former magistrate it was often tempting to comment on the defendant's behavior. Although the magistrate can say whatever she wants, I feel anything said that would escalate a bad situation would be inappropriate.

  • romneycare Jan 29, 10:53 a.m.

It's funny how the suspect is on facebook bragging about being high... Maybe she'll bond out and brag about this on FB!

Judges are very powerful people in our society and legal system. They have forever been held in high honor and respect, thus the proper way to address a judge is "your Honor". To stand before a judge, accused of nearly killing an innocent man while driving with a suspended license (and thus uninsured), and to openly display contempt, disinterest and a complete lack of concern for what she has done demands, in my opinion, that the judge address it. The best judges do not simply sit back and hear cases. They pay attention and they get involved with both parties being heard. They sometimes have an opportunity to get the attention of someone who isn't grasping the situation at hand & hopefully make them a better citizen

That's right! Ms. Yvonne McDade should have been treated with kids gloves. I can only imagine how traumatic it was for her to endure this public lambasting by Ms. Jones. I just hope she isn’t emotionally scarred by her experience with the judicial system. Hopefully everyone realizes that she’s the REAL victim in this story. Give me a break!

    LocalYokel

I don't think it's time to crank up the conspiracy machines for this one. I have an easier explanation--perhaps the judge was annoyed at the callous indifference the defendant displayed at both her illegal actions and the plight of the victim. Sounds like this fine young woman is a budding sociopath.

I wish more judges would give these "great people" a piece of their mind. She has every right to say what she wants to this "great person".

  • Jimmytwotimes Jan 29, 9:15 a.m.

More likely it is a vey appropriate attempt to make the criminal pay attention to the proceedings.

  • Rebelyell55 Jan 29, 9:10 a.m.

There are usually very good reason why these folks have revoked licenses and shouldn't be driving. If our court system don't crack down and put full amount of punishment in place when these folks are caught, it'll continue. Time to reconsider the sentencing structure for these type of crimes.

  • Crumps Br0ther Jan 29, 9:09 a.m.

compassion, remorse, regretful, sorry...not a chance...just another criminal doing what they do best!

  • Crumps Br0ther Jan 29, 9:08 a.m.

    FTA:

Wake County Magistrate Samantha Jones, who said she looked tired and disinterested.

"Am I boring you?" Jones asked at one point.

    Not surprised.

  • Crumps Br0ther Jan 29, 9:05 a.m.

A revoked license means she shouldnt have been driving. Just like being a felon means you shouldn't own a firearm. Any of your libs, who seem to think they understand the criminal mind, want to tell us why these people wont follow the rules but you want to punish those who do?

  • Scubagirl Jan 29, 9:05 a.m.

"Why does a Wake County Magistrate ask "Am I boring you?" Localyokel"

Actually I think it was VERY appropriate! I am sick and tired of CRIMINALS thinking they are above the law. More should be asked that. YOU defend someone who RAN OVER an innocent man????

  • YeaOh Jan 29, 8:56 a.m.

  • TeresaBee Jan 29, 8:56 a.m.

Seems like the revoked license in both hit and run stories are the reason they kept on going. I looked up this woman on facebook and it seemed she has an attitude there and can barely form a sentence.

  • firefly27616 Jan 29, 8:53 a.m.

Wow, look at the remorse on that criminals face...almost killed a man and the magistrate has to ask her if she is boring her...sorry but this kind of thing is an everyday occurrence...compassion, remorse, regretful, sorry...not a chance...just another criminal doing what they do best!

  • kellypsnll Jan 29, 8:42 a.m.

The fact that she seemed bored and disinterested to the judge floors me. The woman nearly killed a man. If he does die, God forbid, she will have a murder charge added. And she seems bored. She needs to stop thinking of herself. That man has family that are worried about him. She should be showing remorse.

  • PanthersFan45 Jan 29, 8:41 a.m.

Again its a driver w/no insurance or no license (or both). When a motorist hits someone I just don't understand why they don't stop. I DON'T buy the "scared", "thought maybe they hit an animal" arguments that you see posters make. C'mon !! Look at the damage, there's NO excuse for NOT stopping.

  • jlh4jdj Jan 29, 8:37 a.m.

Also everyone who thinks that only drunks and bad people are out at this time are so far off base. I am out many nights at this time WORKING. I pay my bills with this second job of mine. So I can pay for all those not working.

  • aetius476 Jan 29, 8:35 a.m.

"Watts said the charges against her are "definitely a learning experience.""

A man was critically and possibly permanently injured becasue of your "learning experience". How can you people sleep at night. "Disinterested" indeed.

Some of these people appearing on the police blotter simply have no soul or consience....

I don't know what worries me more her ridiculous actions or the ridiculous comments on here. She has not even been charged on whether she was at fault for hitting the man, so we don't know. We do know that she left the scene, was apathetic towards the situation in court. That says what I need to know about her level of humanity. I am a man and still find a comment, knocking the woman on the 911 call, annoying. She had no way of knowing if it were a man or woman but, did know that it was a man hit, simple mental transference.

  • venitapeyton Jan 28, 7:55 p.m.

What right does anyone have to ask why the victim was out walking? He could have been going to work, coming home from work or any number of reasons.

Yes - thank goodness someone stopped to render aid and call 911.

  • Phyxius1 Jan 28, 7:50 p.m.

Hope the person recovers from their serious injuries. Whats with all the hit and runs in Raleigh lately? It takes a cold soul to hit someone and just drive away..

  • Uhavenoclu Jan 28, 7:48 p.m.

uhavenoclu...it was pitch black out..for godsakes, it was just a generalized statement and the person was probably scared out of her mind. at least the person called. good grief.

Yes it was good they called...But .."This car went by and hit someone and kept on driving,They were going this way and went that way"..Would have been the way to say,not generalize one over another, that is discrimination and prejeduce singling in on one group over another.
The driver pulled off like most hit and runs because they were either drinking or like this case has a suspended or revoked license?.

  • djofraleigh Jan 28, 7:27 p.m.

I first thought the picture showed the woman driver, but then realized she wasn't being put in a squad car. She's an investigator checking out the car.

"Can you imagine leaving someone in the street, in the cold, in the dark after hitting them? I can't." djofraleigh

Like hitting someone after a bar brawl in the wet parking lot?,or stabbing or shooting on the street??,
Sorry to inform you, happens all the time and seems peoples reaction and sad comments don't change it,just like the baby on board signs in the car window, you think a drunk or wasted driver is going to drive sober because they see the sign????????????
This along with other things have been going on for many generations and will not change overnight.
Many people change their ways by adapting to the situation, can't do this so i'll do that.

  • DeathRow-IFeelYourPain-NOT Jan 28, 7:10 p.m.

"Did the driver even notice they hit someone?"

Broken hole in the windshield. Unless you're WAY beyond the legal driving limit, about to pass out, you KNOW you hit someone when it does this damage.

"Can you imagine leaving someone in the street, in the cold, in the dark after hitting them? I can't." djofraleigh

  • dontstopnow Jan 28, 6:59 p.m.

'McDade also faces charges of driving while license revoked'

Another one driving with a revoked license! Two stories in one day that people with revoked license have hit or killed someone. Horrible.

  • Uhavenoclu Jan 28, 6:58 p.m.

"He was going so fast," she said of the driver.

Why did the caller A woman ...Blame and think it was a guy?????????????????,get the facts straight lady before you accuse and judge. There are many in jail and prison right now because some people did not get the facts straight and many broken relationships family or otherwise because people did not get the facts straight and jumped to conclusions.

  • wwrwheel Jan 28, 4:52 p.m.

I'm sorry to hear that the man got hit. The intersection is N. Raleigh Blvd & Milburnie Rd. Old Milburnie Rd. is a different road, close to Knightdale.

  • bigbr0ther Jan 28, 4:48 p.m.
