The Pack got lucky.

How is losing by 8 a thrashing.....? If there was 3 more minutes left in the game UNC would have won. 57 Pts put up by the Heels in the 2nd half..... State stumbled to the finish and they won't be as lucky in Chapel Hill.
StunGunn Jan 27, 7:07 a.m.
+ 1 million
StunGunn Jan 27, 6:57 a.m.
Congrats on the win, wolf. I hope your health is OK; I'm sorry you can't go to the games, but at least you got to watch your boys put it to my Heels. Take care, my friend.
StunGunn Jan 27, 6:46 a.m.
Roy actually used all his timeouts in the game, something I don't remember him doing in a long time. I know what you mean about him not using them when teams get on a roll. Most all coaches do call a T/O to stop the momentum, but Roy is teaching his teams to figure things out. I like what Roy is doing with this team, though, and he's shown more patience than he usually does. There's a reason Roy is a HOF coach and has won so many games. He's only lost 17 home games in his ten years at Carolina. I'll take Roy any day of the week and I dread the day he decides to retire.
StunGunn Jan 27, 6:39 a.m.
I saw effort in the first half as well, but they were so rattled it didn't show in the score. You're right about the team getting better - I've seen a lot of improvement already - it will take more time for that improvement to translate into their performance on the road, especially in an environment like the PNC.
JohnnyVoodoo Jan 26, 11:36 p.m.
naw, it's not tough to do. Start picking up cans on side the road and cut back on wasting your money on cigarettes and beer and you might be able to get a seat up in the nose bleed section. *lol*
RD n NC Jan 26, 11:21 p.m.
A little tough to do, she passed 3 yrs ago, but im sure i can come up with enough
to cover the cost...
you silly kids.
FatherofFour Jan 26, 11:04 p.m.
That is probably not something he is capable of doing. I mean, just look at his screen name. Looks like he needs to work on eliminating his rage tonight.
JohnnyVoodoo Jan 26, 11:02 p.m.
Hey mor*n, your mommy gonna get you tickets to chapel hill so you and your tarhole buddies can watch the Pack beat your favorite team....again? ... suck it up loser and get over it. *lol*
RD n NC Jan 26, 10:53 p.m.
Tell me the excuse i made son, yeah, thats what i thought, another
lame wolfie with no clue... Stupidity runs deep in you bandwagoners.
it`s ok, im sure you`ll blame the Refs for the loss at Va coming, Seeing
how it`s States MO after an upset win.
JohnnyVoodoo Jan 26, 10:49 p.m.
Hey mor*n, we're crying cuz we're laughing so hard from beating the tarholes and hearing chumps like you make excuses.... *lol*
RD n NC Jan 26, 10:28 p.m.
Says a state fan who`s fanbase were crying about refs even before the game started..
not to mention the REFs were the reason they lost to wake,....
You fail son
JohnnyVoodoo Jan 26, 10:24 p.m.
One thing more hilarious than when the tarholes get beat, is when their fans start crying and giving excuses... they bring up past records and how Roy is a HOF coach and all that cr*p, but it all comes down to.... but it didn't help you out TODAY though did it? ... tarhole fans are a joke.
RD n NC Jan 26, 10:16 p.m.
HAHA, this sh*t never gets old, just funnier.
ssi Jan 26, 10:16 p.m.
Red, how 'bout joining the rest of the grownups here and post something that contributes to the conversation, and not something so crude, personal, and immature. We'd all appreciate it. Thanks.
Hokies94 Jan 26, 10:11 p.m.
One immutable truth. Ol Roy came close to outcoaching Gott tonight.
JohnnyVoodoo Jan 26, 10:11 p.m.
Anytime you think you're ready to give it a try big boy, you just let me know. In the meantime, get over it and get ready for the next beatdown the Pack gives the tarholes when they roll into chapel hill.. *lol*
Hokies94 Jan 26, 10:08 p.m.
Oh. I guess that I have been the only one on here heelman73 to challenge you on here lately. I was pulling for UNC in spite of a half dozen UNC fans on here. I pull for UNC because I have a true appreciation and loyality to Dean Smith, and MY SON. I know it may be difficult for you to see and even understand this. Am I rambling on now? Roy can rally his troops still. What say you?
wlcat609 Jan 26, 10:06 p.m.
It is said that championships are won with defense.....this should have been a draw as neither defense was effective tonight.
To get a look at the NCAA projections go to www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/bracketology
you may get surprised.....these are subject to change at this point.
Hokies94 Jan 26, 9:59 p.m.
I speak the truth on here. You're just eaten up that my team didn't win tonight. I write in common terms, unlike you kind sir. Heck. Man, I know the real deal on here. What do you even know about teaching, coaching, and leading people in your entire life? OK. Roy pretty much blew in in the 1st half. He was coaching to close it to 7. Coach Gott would have been blasted had they lost this one. Can you comprehend this wise . I stated that Gott would have had a hard time talking to Debbie Yow had he blown this one? Comprehend? I doubt it.
RD n NC Jan 26, 9:59 p.m.
When is cutting a lead from 28 to 5 NOT being in it? How did K using his timeout`s
work for Duke in Miami? TIMEOUTS do not always mean you can stop the bleeding...
There are times i wish Roy would use them, but i wont harp on him not as a reason for a loss.
shakennotstirred Jan 26, 9:58 p.m.
you are the stain in those pull-ups. Swallow the bitter pill walmart fan...

shakennotstirred Jan 26, 9:54 p.m.
I agree that State was gassed in the second half and UNC started making some 3's but there probably haven't been 5 28-point comebacks in acc history. The Pack had just enough left in the tank to hold on. GO PACK!
Red Rager Eliminator Jan 26, 9:54 p.m.
dude ... You were still in pull ups the last time NCSux beat UNC in bball .. Go to bed before I smack you
mxteam44 Jan 26, 9:52 p.m.
Oh, I agree with you 100%! I think Roy developed his own coaching style while at Kansas..........basically recruit guys that can just out-score their opponent. UNC doesn't really have prolific scorers this year.....no "go-to guy". We all knew this would be a frustrating year, but we didn't lose to a bottom-feeder tonight.....NCSU is just the better team this year. The stars will align again next season, or the season after that.
Rameses Unchained Jan 26, 9:51 p.m.
I'm gonna disagree again with you Hokie. You are not giving the Pack any credit. A couple of timeouts was not going to beat the Pack tonight, or keep UNC from making so many mistakes. UNC came out of some of the TV timeouts and just went brain dead so your theory was not proven in those instances.
redwolfone Jan 26, 9:48 p.m.
Way to go Pack! Now stop giving up games to teams you should stomp into a mud puddle!
78FJ40 Jan 26, 9:48 p.m.
Roy knew exactly what he was doing. TOs in the first half would have helped us. State has zero depth, and can't play that high of an intensity a full game. When fresh, that team can play w/ anyone in the nation - sadly, I doubt we'll be all that good in tourneys.
Rameses Unchained Jan 26, 9:48 p.m.
I'm gonna irritate some but please tell me who in here posting is a HOF coach? Crickets chirpping. You call a time out, the other team get's yoked. Yeah, maybe Roy should have called some, maybe not, but does anyone think it was really going to stop the NCSU momentum? Coaches call timeouts based on a gut feel that it will help. I'm gonna defer to Roy because he's won more games than I have, and has 2 Nattys. How about the expertise at Roy using timeouts at the end to bring it close? Don't see anyone posting postitives about that. Heels did a great job coming back and took the wind out of a huge victory. Just too many mistakes, too many TOs, too few rebounds, too little defense. Heels made tons of mistakes but were still close at the end due to answering the gut check at 28 down. THere is quite a bit of ACC season left and UNC will make the dance by continuing to improve and winning the majority of their ACC games. One more thing, GIVE THE PACK CREDIT, they won it moreso than UNC lost it. Congrats to the Pack for a great game.
still heelman1973 Jan 26, 9:46 p.m.
Reading you is no problem. Understanding your rambling is often a different story.
FatherofFour Jan 26, 9:46 p.m.
It's called sportsmanship. You should look it up.
JohnnyVoodoo Jan 26, 9:42 p.m.
By the time the tarhole fans run out of excuses and romantic analogies after being beat by North Carolina State University, the NIT will grow tired of their whining and crying and extend an invitation to another mid-major school.
Hokies94 Jan 26, 9:42 p.m.
Had Gott lost a 28 points lead, he couldn't afford to do this too many times since he's a 2nd year coach. Read me now? Had Roy called a few TIME OUT'S, they could have been in this one. Do you read me now?
Red Rager Eliminator Jan 26, 9:42 p.m.
stop kissing every other fans behind .. What are you , a nun?
still heelman1973 Jan 26, 9:42 p.m.
Congrats on a good victory! Your boys blew us away early, but we had you scared at the end. Looking forward to the next one.
wolfbitesyourheels Jan 26, 9:40 p.m.
Carolina came back and made a great game of it. I can't go to games anymore. My oldest son and his fiancee took my tix and they enjoyed the game. Both are Tarheel Fans. So, this is part of the reason I do not pull against UNC except when playing NCSU. Good Luck the rest of the way Heels Fans. See you in a couple of weeks. I hope that is a good game too.
still heelman1973 Jan 26, 9:40 p.m.
What would you like us to mark down? Something that could have happened if something else had happened but didn't? How do you propose we grade you on that after we mark it down?
Sometimes I wonder if you think at all before you post.
shakennotstirred Jan 26, 9:39 p.m.
Sweeeeet! Should have been a bigger margin, but coaches love to slow it down to run the clock and State stinks at halfcourt ball. RUN, PACK, RUN!. Seems like a no brainer. Of course, they could have been gassed. Good comeback for the heels but the hole was just too deep. UNC should win a close one at home against the Pack...
Hokies94 Jan 26, 9:37 p.m.
Roy is one of the greatest recruiters in the entire Country. His race horses didn't make a transition on defense. Roy should coach as long as he wants. He's done well. Coach Smith would have called some time-outs in the 1st half. Sorry. It's the damm truth. Dean won games by doing this, and simply talking to his players. Gott could have lost his job after another blown lead like this one. Mark this one down.
THEBIGREDWOLF Jan 26, 9:33 p.m.
DeathRow-IFeelYourPain-NOT Jan 26, 9:32 p.m.
Cudos to the Heels for fighting back in this one.
mxteam44 Jan 26, 9:30 p.m.
I give up!
FatherofFour Jan 26, 9:30 p.m.
Dude, try being a State fan for a little while. You would never survive. Roy is now 24 - 2 against the Pack. This is obviously a rebuilding year for UNC, but I guess that is not allowed by your type. Thanks to all (or most) of the Heels fans on here tonight for their sportsmanship. This was an entertaining game to say the least. Good luck in your upcoming games, and see you in a few weeks in Chapel Hill.
mxteam44 Jan 26, 9:29 p.m.
I agree, he thinks he can just let his players "play through it", but to want him to leave? That's ridiculous! The man has 2 RECENT National Championships, and I expect him to bring home at least 1 more before he retires. Big picture bro! Big picture!!!
Hokies94 Jan 26, 9:28 p.m.
I wrote last week that Roy didn't have 20% of Coach Dean Smith's ability. I got hit hard on some postings. He doesn't have the stuff that Dean had. Getting pounded and Roy didn't call a time out. The worst part is that Coach Gott almost blew it after leading by 28.
Who's the worst choke? Coach Gott or Roy? Gott is the luckiest coach on the Planet right now. He's no game time coach. Roy allowed his team to get beaten down the court time after time in Transition Defense. Still. UNC came back in spite of how Gott allowed his team to lose intensity.
