Does this take into account illegal aliens and the red carpet they traverse to arrive here and take our jobs?

The people moving here from NY are escaping the outrageous taxes they have up there.

The NYers who go to Florida then come to NC are called "half backs" because they moved halfway back.

Fasting growing - for bed bugs.

"I am never comfortable being in the company of Texas cities. And, 3% population growth and 2.3% job growth? Couldn't that be a problem?" - Mr. Middle of the Road

Yes, this is a huge problem...for advocates of child labor.

I wish Raleigh and Cary were not always in this polls as best, fastest, etc. More traffic, more sprawl, more people, more crime.

NOne of these comments make any sense.

I love how everyone thinks JUST people from NYC and Northeast are only moving here!! Get real people, just because you see a New York tag does not mean that they are from NYC. Did you know that more people move to NYC every year than there is people moving away. Also a lot of people are moving here from all over is because of jobs, education and people DO get transferred here!! Drive down the road and see how many OTHER out of state tags you see!! I was reading an article at the end of last year and they said that more people from Florida and South Carolina are moving to NC then any other state. They said that since North Carolina is the best state in the southeast that people are moving here from surrounding states. I don’t understand people that don’t welcome growth. Don’t comment onto these stories if you don’t know what you are talking about or don’t know your facts! The civil war is over! You can stop hating the north!

cushioncritter, your post made me laugh! I think what you've experienced (and I have as well) is an influx of people who would not be happy ANYWHERE, regardless of the amenities. I visited NYC a couple of years ago and found people to be welcoming. In the airport on the return trip, I took note of a couple with two young kids who were letting their prodigy run roughshod over the place—jumping on chairs, even going up to strangers and asking for food. You could tell from the accents the mother probably wasn't on any Eastern Star roster. Anyway, I surmised that the really happy New Yorkers shipped the grumpy ones out of state, mainly to our area. Bloom where you're planted! If you don't like where you're planted, uproot and go elsewhere.

Being a dumping ground for NYC exiles is no accomplishment. Perhaps a "one child policy" is in order for that area -- if it is so great there, why don't they stay there?

That can't be! We had a Democratic governor! Our taxes are too high, our schools terrible, we are hostile to business, roads are terrible, and Chapel Hill and Durham are just down the road. And Cary is right next door. This has got to be a mistake. Like all the other kudos to NC and the Triangle in the last 15 years.
