Obama needs to declare a war on gangs instead of a war on gun rights the latter which would only affect those who abide by the law.

I do agree with cracking down harshly on gun trafficking as well as background checks for private sales. Especially after hearing one Chicago police chief talk about 40% of the guns he sees were bought legally and then sold privately to a gang member or criminal.

There should also be a gun felon list much like a child molestor list.

I think there should be a domestic terrorism class of laws with the funding an resources to go after organized domestic terrorists. (gangs)

Kaka/Spin alert - no one can tell, from a spent shell casing, that it was fired from an "assault rifle".

  • isaacewallace Jan 25, 2013

All these criminals should be tried as adults no matter what their age and they should receive the absolute maximum sentence,No Bail No Parole.

  • jackal10782 Jan 24, 2013

The murders are "boys." A man doesn't run into a house and shoot someone. A man doesn't need a gun to settle his differences. He only needs a gun to deal with "boys" who are not mature enough to settle their differences without violence.

  • signify6644 Jan 24, 2013

Mexico is just sending all the gang violence Americans don't want to do themselves.

  • apocalyptoconquistador Jan 24, 2013

DEMAND Obama, Holder and NC AG Cooper enforce our immigration Laws.

  • airbornemonty Jan 24, 2013

Once again I read that two young men have crossed the line into manhood and since that is the case, they should be prosecuted like any adult person would be which might include the death penalty.

But will that happen, I seriously doubt it, not in the North Carolina court system.

  • country jewel Jan 24, 2013

the media should refer to them as 'punks' not 'gangs.' That's all they are. May the next punk that breaks into a home be greeted with a loud bang.

  • Ex-Republican Jan 24, 2013

Gangs! That's the first place law enforcement really needs to come down on if we want to sharply reduce gun violence. As tragic as the recent mass shootings have been, our schools are still the safest place. Yes, we need to prevent the mentally ill from getting firearms. This is the second priority. The last thing we should be doing is restricting gun ownership of upstanding citizens who go to work everyday, pay their bills and taxes and generally contribute to the well being of society.

  • Terkel Jan 24, 2013

Well, well, well. It looks like realtors will have to start disclosing the gang affiliation of previous owners, just as they have to disclose a murder committed on the premises.

  • Scubagirl Jan 24, 2013

And I very much disagree w/ what the neighbor said on the news.....they are NOT just like any other kid in the neighborhood. They are gang members and murderers. If THAT'S what the other neighborhood kids are like, think I'd be moving my family somewhere else while I still HAD a family

  • Rebelyell55 Jan 24, 2013

I do care that they are executed upon being found guilty not 20 years later or never!

January 24, 2013 4:58 p.m._______________________________________ Even if found guilty, they'll most likely be out in less than 20 years. This is not unusal.

  • mypointofview2 Jan 24, 2013

This is very sad. In Miami this is an everyday thing. So sad that it is happening in NC. You should see all the hit and run. That is all i will say.

  • Rebelyell55 Jan 24, 2013

Sadly, while this story has gotten a lot of media attention, it's not the only example of how "gang" (drug cartel) has become increaseingly more active in NC. Failure to secure our boarders has led to this and will continue to do so. We'll be reading more and more articles as they continue their invasion of NC and our country.

  • pappy1 Jan 24, 2013

I really wonder at those of you who call the murderers "boys" in your posts.

  • freedomrings Jan 24, 2013

So incredibly sad. Little ones left without parents and for what?

  • dejr88 Jan 24, 2013

@ btneast....Thank you, you have pretty much said what I say all of the time!!! I'm sorry, but people seem to be looking through rose colored glasses! I've said it more than once, "under the table" (as I call it) gun purchasing happens everyday! I'm not going to get in to politics over whether guns will or will not be banned...not the point here. The point is a couple tragically lost their lives, leaving 2 children orphaned. I hope the 16 yr old is charged as an adult and the 15 yr old receives a stiff sentence. Put aside the gun issue and think of the family at this difficult time.

  • jrfergerson Jan 24, 2013

Wonder what kind of a plea deal they offered these boys for this information. They will be back on the streets before we know they have been charged.

  • southerntalent Jan 24, 2013

Great,so lets say a gang member lives in the rental property next to someones home and they make a mistake.unreal to even think of it.

  • Pirate01 Jan 24, 2013

So as gang violence is increasing the dems want to limit the number of bullets a law abiding US citizen can have to defend themselves?? Talk about a "war on women"!!

  • Hasbeen Jan 24, 2013

Whatelseisnew - In fact guns are safer than cars if you look at the body count.
Huh? The body count. Is that the statisical analysis we now use in our civilized society. Body counts. This country is going to hill and you cannot compare cars and guns They are completely unrelatable as to their intent and purpose. Week after week of car/gun comparisons...sheesh

  • PanthersFan45 Jan 24, 2013

How bizarre is that ? Someone moves into a home where a former high-ranking gang leader used to live and then they lose their lives over mistaken identity. It turns out their attackers are 15 & 16 years old . And to think the crime was committed while a 3 year old was present in the home too ..... unbelievable.

  • nitabitasmith Jan 24, 2013

@Glock07, I hope you are joking. Criminals don't buy their guns legally bc they can be traced that way. I hope you are joking and not being extremely naive.

  • nitabitasmith Jan 24, 2013

So these people may have lost their lives because of mistaken identity. Smdh ...

  • whatelseisnew Jan 24, 2013

"ou are not safe from guns they unless the street sales can be stopped."

Same with cars. In fact guns are safer than cars if you look at the body count.

  • North Carolina Cutie Jan 24, 2013

You are not safe from guns they unless the street sales can be stopped.

  • computer trainer Jan 24, 2013

A high-ranking gang member might have been the target. - And their name is ........ Come on, give us information that might help one of us, if we happen to see them. Might help LEO's to catch them.

  • ckblackm Jan 24, 2013

I hope those 2 are tried as adults and get whats coming to them.

  • beachboater Jan 24, 2013

These wanna be gang bangers didn't even know what their target looked like? Geez.

Law enforcement needs to go for the jugular and go after the gang itself. Chances are someone told these sorry excuses for a person to do this. The censors won't let me post my adjective that I wanted to use.

  • kimisufu Jan 24, 2013

Sounds like the girl who was arrested for possessing the firearm is doing some talking.

  • Sumo Vita Jan 24, 2013

Hope this murder can be pinned on the gang, and will net more than just these two wretches.

  • Canes Girl Forever Jan 24, 2013

    Pathetic. Just pathetic.

  • feistyredhead2001 Jan 24, 2013

DUHHHH....... don't ya normally do ya research!... I guess not. So two innocent people died for a person who didn't even both look for the truth. What a shame.... I hope I don't have to spend the rest of my life paying for the rest of his !

  • exador7 Jan 24, 2013

Exterminate gangs in NC... we don't have that here......
