Gee, it couldn't have been that bad, the guy looks delighted and he's "optimistic". Or, in the alternative it could be incredibly biased reporting by liberals with a race-based bias that distorts their objectivity.

I wish I had his strength. Many blessings to him and his wife as they look to the future.

  • carrboroyouth Jan 24, 2013

    Brave couple...

  • Lightfoot3 Jan 24, 2013

I would support state sponsored torture for cases like this.

  • Barfly Jan 24, 2013

It's wonderful that Jason has such a positive attitude about this horrific crime.

Late at night, I wonder if he gets angry? Being shot and crippled by the same 2 animals that raped his wife.

    It makes my blood boil.

  • Rebelyell55 Jan 24, 2013

Sadly they'll both be out of prison in the future.

  • aetius476 Jan 24, 2013

"They both should be executed regardless of the color of their skin." - Barfly

Executed? We will be lucky if they get 10 years in prison! If they were put on death row, the RJA would make sure the sentence was overturned.

Some ill prepared and unlucky family will be visited again by these two fine citizens of the Tar Heel state...

"You people are sick. There are already enough young black men in prison. Thank goodness we have the Justice Project. Whether or not they committed the crime is not the point. The point is the racial bias within our hearts that calls for us to persecute ... I mean, prosecute these two young children even though they are black youths." JohnDrescher

They both should be executed regardless of the color of their skin.

  • simplemind2 Jan 24, 2013

Once the home invasion perpetrators are found guilty, then they should receive the death penalty and no less.

  • csui Jan 24, 2013

Everyone has a choice regardless of your ethnicity or environment. The men did the crime now they must deal with the punishment. It shouldn't matter whether the victim or criminal is puple, blue or orange etc...
Life is a journey for us all and we should do the best we can and keep it moving.

  • edgar709 Jan 24, 2013

    Jason's an inspiration! Best wishes!

"The person sick here would be those of like mindset as yours who feel that because of the color of their skin they should not be held accountable." - RandomCitizen

I don't think John was being serious. He was trying to point out the absurdity of the "minority apologists".....

  • Grand Union Jan 24, 2013

"This is the world we live in. Blacks might feel they get the short shift, but if you are white, and you do the crime, then you do the time. If you are black, well..."

Oh please! the opposite is true. The odds of conviction and of receiving a longer sentence are greater if you are a minority.

  • Dan Cooper Jan 24, 2013

Very little overall outrage from the selectively outraged left when the perpetrators are members of liberal's protected class and the victims are members of liberal's vilified class.

  • vile garbage Jan 24, 2013

Uhavenoclu are you saying these men shouldn't be put away for a long, long time? If you are saying that then you are crazy. What if they broke in on you in the middle of the night? You make me sick and I hope your home is next. Make sure to offer them a Pepsi or milk or something for the ride home after they finish.

  • That Explains It Jan 24, 2013

Uhavenoclu and RandomCitizen, I appreciate your reiterating the main facts in the situation. I believe what you are apparently missing can best be demonstrated via a recent example. Let's take, for example, that fine example of African American manhood, Mr. Tilmon Charles Golphin. Now, Mr. Golphin and his brother stole their grandfather's gun, raced at high speeds up I95, and murdered a Sheriff and a State Trooper. Now these are "FACTS" (to quote Uhavenoclu). Yet the Justice Project of NC recently has his sentence overturned. Why? You might ask, since no one disputes these "FACTS". Well, for one simple reason, because he was Black. That is not my opinion, that is the stated reason. The Justice Project was able to argue that, because he was black, there was racial bias against him, and thus his sentence was overturned.

This is the world we live in. Blacks might feel they get the short shift, but if you are white, and you do the crime, then you do the time. If you are black, well...

  • RandomCitizen Jan 24, 2013

JohnDrescher read and understand the following: "Jahaad Tariem Allah Marshall, 26, and his brother, Shabar Master Marshall, 16, face numerous charges in the case, including attempted murder, first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, attempted murder and first-degree forcible sex offense"

The point IS whether they committed the crime! Doesn't matter the color of their skin. Another point, they are not children!

The person sick here would be those of like mindset as yours who feel that because of the color of their skin they should not be held accountable.

My only wish is that they the next time (and there will be a next time these two break into anothers home) that the person in the home they break into has a gun and ends their future crime spree, which is something that's very evident that our prisons can't do.

  • Uhavenoclu Jan 24, 2013

You people are sick. There are already enough young black men in prison. Thank goodness we have the Justice Project. Whether or not they committed the crime is not the point. The point is the racial bias within our hearts that calls for us to persecute ... I mean, prosecute these two young children even though they are black youths.

RACE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT SO GET OFF IT......WE BASE OUR OPINIONS ON FACT.FACT,,,,,,,,,,,FACT............

  • Uhavenoclu Jan 24, 2013

You hide his name but mention where he works and names his co workers and that they have a facebook page and earlier stories say where the attack occurred?..hmmm Not so hard to find out who he is?
Hope he gets well and is able to do most of what he was able to do before and sense of humor is the key.Keep it up.

  • That Explains It Jan 24, 2013

There is theory, and then there is reality. Theory sounds good, and makes us feel good. Reality ... well, reality is the Dream Act come knocking at your door.

  • whyalltheproblems Jan 23, 2013

very true, sweetsea2 and Amen to sunshine1040. I'm sure he'd be speaking up if white teens did this to an African American couple.

  • WooHoo2You Jan 23, 2013

Sorry but it is only a hate crime if it is white attacker against a black person This is NC and I have yet to here from MR Barber- sunshine1040

You obviously don't understand the definition of a hate crime.

  • WooHoo2You Jan 23, 2013

I pray for these two victims.

  • Bartmeister Jan 23, 2013

Different names but similar faces every time. Whatta shame for the victim in this senseless crime.

  • we-r-just-human Jan 23, 2013

    sweetsea2 so true!!!!!!!!!!

  • westernwake1 Jan 23, 2013

Both Jahaad Tariem Allah Marshall, 26, and his brother, Shabar Master Marshall, 16 need to be permanently locked up in prison. In this case it would be appropriate to also try them for hate crimes (but we will never see this).

It is good to hear that Jason is making progress in his recovery and has an upbeat attitude.

  • censorbait Jan 23, 2013

Good luck to this man in his recovery. But the police cannot protect against such home invasions. You owe it to your families to arm and defend. With guns. Middle aged folks, women, children and seniors are no match physically for street trash like these two. Only a gun will do the job and it will not work every time but it gives you a much better chance of survival than any alternative. And this pair never needs to see another day outside of prison confinement.
