Duke stunk it up...bottom line. 27 point loss is a bummer...ask any TARHOLE fan because a couple years back I believe Duke beat them by 32!!!!

Said the person with more posts in less time, who's divorced, and who bragged about "being the first/only one to say that Miami would beat Duke". Yeah, that person.

no doubt...look for miami to suffer a puzzling loss soon...but beating duke and unc in the same season is huge for any team, regardless of the circumstances

Miami has points you can borrow

  • EvanRude Jan 23, 2013

Coach K's back is hurting again - better pin some of these upcoming losses on one of the young bucks.

  • DooksucksV3 Jan 23, 2013

34 when Miami took out the starters, otherwise would have been 40+

He saves his most obscenely obvious, biased, bad calls for his baby - the UNC/State games.

  • Native NC gal Jan 23, 2013

I am speechless except to say "what a fantastic game!"

  • VT1994Hokie Jan 23, 2013

How a few have the energy to write so many on here is beyond my comprehension. I can't keep up with so many on one topic, or hardly any. Kudos. I wish that I was that damm smart. If I were still married though, I couldn't write this many as I have thus far. Obviously, some aren't really married either to write so many all of the time on here. Must be an ego thing best I can tell. Go little Hokies.

  • PanthersFan45 Jan 23, 2013

No better way to quiet down a fan base that runs its mouth. It was a thorough whooping, no contest, Duke should have stayed in Durham and saved on Airline costs.

  • fouroaksboys Jan 23, 2013

Hess lays low in blowouts. Even he knows that he can't carry his team alone.

  • VT1994Hokie Jan 23, 2013

Well now. I may be only writer that stated that I wouldn't bet a dime on this one. I truly enjoy how a few like to Jack it up tonight. Speak to us tomorrow.

I'm with you jgunn. I thought for sure that Duke would make a run in the second half and put some pressure on Miami. Karl Hess barely even made his presence known in the second half. I wonder if that had anything to do with the head of ACC officials being in attendance tonight?

  • Heelraiser RIP Jan 23, 2013

Duke is having flashbacks to last year's final game in Cameron

  • StunGunn Jan 23, 2013

Me either - I was sure Duke would make a comeback. Glad I don't bet on games.

  • dsalter Jan 23, 2013

Anybody want to believe there's a lot of parity in the ACC this year? As I've said before (along with a lot of other folks) In any given night, any team in the ACC is capable of defeating another ACC team. It's getting back to like it use to be, with the exception that there's a lot more teams.

  • grh90 Jan 23, 2013

So let me get this straight. dook isn't the best team in the country? I thought they won the championship already. They were the December champions. Right?

  • slayerhil Jan 23, 2013

No future as a psychic for you, DukeDan.

  • senor wuf Jan 23, 2013

Thank you Duke for taking a little ACC attention off the Wolfpack. I think Miami beats any opponent in NCAAB with how they played tonight (so much intensity). Duke weren't hitting making matters much worse. Miami looks like the real deal and obviously a serious contender for #1 in the ACC.

  • still heelman1973 Jan 23, 2013

Did that graphic just say that was the 3rd worst defeat by a #1 team in history?

  • NCSU72 Jan 23, 2013

    WOW!

  • jblee2 Jan 23, 2013

    Jrt,

I can tell you they won't be #2/3. If so, Syracuse, Kansas, Florida and several others will be livid.

They were speculating that Michigan may take the #1 spot. I remember several years ago being ranked #1 was the Kiss of Death. As soon as a team was ranked #1, they'd lose a game and lose the #1 ranking.

I was wrong with a capital "W"! I've learned over the years that no lead is safe when you're playing Duke. But, you're right, Miami is putting it to Duke big time. This is just so strange.

  • VT1994Hokie Jan 23, 2013

Some comments are valid on the Sportsfan. Some are simple re-cycling another's postings. I read these, and I see a few that like to Jack it up too. I would venture to say that a few hardly even watch a game on here based upon their writings.

  • jrt0856 Jan 23, 2013

They should drop out of the top ten with a lost like this, but they will probably drop to 2 or 3. And someone lose and they will back a number 1 again.

  • PacknoPride Jan 23, 2013

    How far will duke drop?

  • Tar Heels Victory-Show No Mercer Jan 23, 2013

If the game was close, then it would be worth it to rush the court. This is just plain ridiculous! LOL!

  • MoDuke v2 is gone Jan 23, 2013

Roy called and said "run Mike run."

  • jblee2 Jan 23, 2013

    jgunn,

So what were you saying about the Duke comeback?

Just kidding. I've read a lot of posts on here and I really respect you. But Duke just got DESTROYED tonight.

  • StunGunn Jan 23, 2013

Miami does have one of the "oldest" teams in the ACC - I think four starters are seniors and the other starter is a soph. Who knows what the NCAA will do. I was surprised that Frank Haith was implicated in a NCAA investigation.

  • grh90 Jan 23, 2013

    View quoted thread

I vote no rush. If you crush a team like that, you are obviously the better team so there is no need.

  • StunGunn Jan 23, 2013

    View quoted thread

True, but no one knew how good Miami was back then, and it was Carolina, so the ABC'ers were celebrating. And I don't think Carolina lost by that much to Miami - I thought it was a pretty close game. Miami was in control most of the game, but it wasn't a blow out.

  • 903 mens national championships Jan 23, 2013

They absolutely should rush the floor tonight. Because if they host Duke again next year, Jabari and Hood and company won't be losing that one. I think Miami has like 6 seniors, and some of these underclassmen will probably go in the draft if the NCAA hammers them anytime soon like they deserved months ago.

That's when they were a cupcake.

  • mxteam44 Jan 23, 2013

I completely understand the excitement, and I don't worry too much about the players getting hurt.......it's more along the lines of an obnoxious fan doing something or saying something to a player, and in the heat of the moment, the player doing something they'll get suspended for. I've been in those situations, and it's tough to keep your composure after a game like this.

  • evadbbat Jan 23, 2013

They could always do like Roy and leave 5 bench warmers on the court while he and the rest of the team head to the locker room.

  • StunGunn Jan 23, 2013

Miami has never beaten a #1 team, so I think they'll rush the court. This win is huge for Laranaga and Miami.

  • DUKE4EVER Jan 23, 2013

    Hats off to the Canes.

Our best game would not beat them tonight.

    GO DUKE!!
