how sad that most of the comments regarding this story have a racist tone. Some immigrants are bad and some are good. Just like natural citizens....Hopefully they get this scumbag out of here or lock him up asap so he can quit giving hard-working, honest people a bad name.

This is what all you liberals wanted. Here is your poor hispanic immigrant (just wanted to come to the US to get a better job) = KERMIT

He came here to get a job from a liberal? You MUSt be a Romney lib.

This is what all you liberals wanted. Here is your poor hispanic immigrant (just wanted to come to the US to get a better job) totally ignoring our laws. What respect he has for the great country he wants to be part of.

"Poor job by those who should have found him BEFORE he injured someone" -Scubagirl

Hey Scubagirl, I encourage you to join your local police department or the U.S. Marshals, and report back to us on how many illegal hispanics you lock-up for failing to appear on misdemeanor charges. Really??? They might have their picture on four different identifications, and just go live somewhere else in a 2-bedroom apartment with 19 other people. Good luck with that!

"See contray (sic) to popular belief you can not tell an illegal by just looking at them!!!!" NicenSmooth

Which is why they have to be stopped and checked. Too bad you don't like it. Complain to your "leaders".

"How can be wanted on outstanding warrents for not appering if he is here illegaly ? they had him once in custody. Why was he let go the first time"

He probably did what many of them do, give a false alias and manage to wiggle out of the system the 1st time. Seems like they catch these guys and they usually find them using several different names.

I hope the AG wasn't planning on giving him a driver's license.

cuffusion - "Why are the injured parties not filing suit against the Department of Homeland Security for dereliction of duty?"

Because the federal government is exempt from suits. And, your "deselection of duty" comment is just plain laughable. Finally, class action suits do not apply to personal injury resulting from car accidents.

  • cuffusion Jan 21, 12:52 p.m.

Why are the injured parties not filing suit against the Department of Homeland Security for dereliction of duty? they are knowingly and willfully permitting these criminals to remain in this country.. Sound like everyone who experiences any financial or physical impact has a case.. I cant see why some enterprising lawyer has not started a class action suit.. more money to be made here than against the cigarette manufacturers..

get this - they stop a disproportionate number of latinos and ask for ID. It's preferable that illegals kill someone than be profiled.

get this... what is preferable is for Hispanic-Americans to travel the streets of the cities we work, live and pay taxes in without being harrassed by LEOs because the color of our skin... See contray to popular belief you can not tell an illegal by just looking at them!!!!

  • Terkel Jan 21, 11:47 a.m.

Scubagirl, he was out walking around because glancing at latinos is "profiling". The sheriff's office in Alamance Co is being sued for profiling because - get this - they stop a disproportionate number of latinos and ask for ID. It's preferable that illegals kill someone than be profiled.

If the original charges had been handled correctly, Mr Johnson would not be in a hospital in critical condition right now. But of course Roy Cooper wants to give everyone a driver's license.

  • sunshine1040 Jan 21, 10:30 a.m.

You keep him in custody until all charges are settled and then deport him and let him know next time found in the US he will not be able to walk the streets in any country ever again life without parole

  • JAFOinWF Jan 21, 10:20 a.m.

These are the types of people that the democrats want to give amnesty to. It is sad that an entire group of people demand and vote for lawlessness and illegal behavior and want it condoned.

"The Department of Homeland Security has an immigration detainer on Ramirez-Castaneda, who is originally from Mexico and is wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court on resisting arrest and assault on a female charges."

So how is it he was out walking/driving around? Poor job by those who should have found him BEFORE he injured someone
