  • redoit2000 Jan 17, 2013

Sleeting in northern Durham near Bahama!

  • mizemama2 Jan 17, 2013

What is up with the wind? Here in Benson it sounds like a hurricane or tornado coming through. Can not even open up my front door the wind is so strong.

  • Southern Girl Jan 17, 2013

What? Now, no snow, after schools are delayed? Unbelievable. But, not surprised. :(

  • injameswetrust2003 Jan 17, 2013

I am here to say thank you to WCPSS for calling a two-hour delay early. Yes, we probably won't get a single flake of snow (as is usually the case) but at least we don't have to wait until 5am for a decision.

  • tayluvsu03 Jan 17, 2013

Snowing in Person County for about 10 minutes and already covering the porches and grass at my house which is in the Chub Lake area!!

    Oh really?

  • london12 Jan 17, 2013

WRAL-TV is so liberal it stinks, except for the nice weatherman!

  • london12 Jan 17, 2013

we might not get much in Raleigh, or we might. my forecast is 1 inch to 24 inches. just as much as the real weathermen know!

  • london12 Jan 17, 2013

  • foster208 Jan 17, 2013

Durham County Schools have a work day Friday, so there was no cancellation.

  • Ken D. Jan 17, 2013

I can't believe that weather forecasts and school closing decisions are now a liberal vs conservative issue. Come on people. Give it a rest.

  • seankelly15 Jan 17, 2013

DooksucksV3 - "Told you guys you were not getting snow. Even Ashville is still rain."

Hmmm... and you know this how? And, you are speaking in the past tense... very odd given that the snow won't arrive until 9:00.

Granville is closed tomorrow and monday, HELLO!!!

  • mmtlash Jan 17, 2013

it's snowing in Boone and you can still see it coming down even though it's night lol

  • jblake1932 Jan 17, 2013

Why does everyone need to fill their vehicle up with gas when it snows an inch or two? My goodness, even if it did snow, which it won't, it's not like it's gonna hang around for a century or two. And if the roads are snowbound, how are these people supposed to get around? GEESH! They make it harder for the folks that have to work tonite, like me!!

  • sunshine1040 Jan 17, 2013

Why do families need to know before the weatherman if it is really going to snow just wash your window folks and it it is really snowing then you know those paid by the city county state or federal goverment are closed

  • TruthBKnown Banned Again01 Jan 17, 2013

In the last hour or two, the temp reported by WRAL has dropped from 49F to 44F.

  • DooksucksV3 Jan 17, 2013

Told you guys you were not getting snow. Even Ashville is still rain.

  • dawgwillhunt Jan 17, 2013

Granville county schools are closed for a teacher workday already too

  • Rebelyell55 Jan 17, 2013

While it's only 47 degree here in Broadway, that wind is doing some serious blowing out there.

  • TriangleMommy Jan 17, 2013

BeHereNow - not for the year round schools.

  • BeHereNow Jan 17, 2013

Is anybody yet aware that DPS was closed Friday already for a teacher work day? Been on the schedule all year!

  • ncst8mpa Jan 17, 2013

What is wrong with Wake Schools? Just call the 2 hour delay like everyone else so that families can plan around the change. This waiting until the last minute to make a decision is nuts. Please, whatever you do, don't wait until the early buses are already rolling.

  • injesuswecanwin Jan 17, 2013

Not trying to be mean, but if you think it is worth making fun of "Southerners" because you are a "Northerner" about our reactions to the weathere here, why did yo move down here? Maybe you should go on back up to your northern home. I do think it needs to be understood that we in the south simply are not as equipped with our dept of transportation to know ahead of time what the weather is going to do. Our winter storms just are not as predictable due the temps. So, just go with the flow and stop with the arrogance.

  • RainierBeer Jan 17, 2013

    Not snowing in Asheville yet...

  • Buddy1 Jan 17, 2013

Maybe you don't know what 'scoop' means. Johnny2times had info about Durham County Schools being closed tomorrow before WRAL. That is a 'scoop.' lol

  • goobnav Jan 17, 2013

    People, people,

There are terrible drivers everywhere Boston, Philly, NYC and DC come to mind for up North. Richmond, Charlotte, and Atlanta for the Southeast. FL doesn't count they are already merged as one.

Just deal with the weather as it comes. Take you time, you'll get to your destination, better late than dead. Everybody be safe!!!

  • jcpmoore Jan 17, 2013

Sorry Wake folks for the wait. Move to Durham. At least DPS had the good foresight to take tomorrow off in advance for student vacation.

  • 4kidsforme Jan 17, 2013

Why is everyone freaking out needing to know?? Right now there is zero reason to need a delay. They are already a laughing stock for the school district and to have a 2 hour delay for rain wouldn't help that much. Most places wait until morning to make the call.

  • Thought Criminal WS Jan 17, 2013

"Does the WS in your user name mean "Winston-Salem", by any chance? Or are you here in the Triangle?"

Winston Smith, thought criminal - the user name thought criminal was already taken. I'm in the triangle. Sitting in a high riser right now, it's ice hitting the window, rain by the time it hits the ground floor. Making a tink-tink-tink-plink noise, and I'm watching it melt and run down the window.

Makes me sad, mainly because I love snow, but also the commute home takes me a minimum of 45 minutes on a clear day *groan*, so I'm expecting closer to 90 mins today.

  • Brian Jenkins Jan 17, 2013

I guess I will wake up at 5am to see if wcpss delays schools, since we've reverted back to the liberal school board and supt who wait until the last minute to tell parents of their decision.

  • shadowbubbaz Jan 17, 2013

To WCPSS, you are always the last school district to close or have a delay????? Parents need to know before the morning!!!!! I can say this because I grew up going to Wake county schools! Born and raised here!!!!! WCPSS GET ON THE BALL

  • cuaround1 Jan 17, 2013

Durham County traditional schools were already out on Friday, January 18th and 21st. The only students the buses would have been traveling for would have been year round. Not really a "scoop".

  • injameswetrust2003 Jan 17, 2013

"To WCPSS: Families need you to make a decision before 11pm at night, not wait until 3 am in the morning. Please!" wenfrom wake

    I second that!

  • shadowbubbaz Jan 17, 2013

Dan Cooper .... Keep preaching and we will turn the page for ya!!! Tell them northern folk how it is!!!!! They came down here for a reason. hmmmmmm!!!!!!

  • Buddy1 Jan 17, 2013

Durham County schools closed tomorrow? Wow, you "scooped" WRAL on that one there. lol

  • ellengraham5660 Jan 17, 2013

What is to laugh about - we get snow just like other places, just not as often and usually not as much, but we have had our share of snow and are not unfamiliar with it..........

  • shadowbubbaz Jan 17, 2013

    Right on Dan Cooper!!!!

  • ellengraham5660 Jan 17, 2013

That's probably the best thing to do. I wouldn't waste a lot of time worrying about a snow that might or might not come, probably won't stick and surely won't stay long. It's too warm.

  • wakemom Jan 17, 2013

you need to have 2chainz on your car tires... it helps with traction

    LOL not "2chainz"

  • Dan Cooper Jan 17, 2013

"us Northern transplants as you say, are well experienced."

WE Southerners don't care plus an NC plate means nothing other than a Northerner who wanted to leave the miserable weather has been here long enough to get a state tag. I'll out drive you in any vehicle in any road condition.

  • wenfromwake Jan 17, 2013

  • Bewitched Jan 17, 2013

I grew up here and am still amazed at how the grocery stores will be flooded with people buying up all the milk, bread and beer as in - "OMG! We're going to be snowed in for weeks!" like THAT will happen, and if that were the case, wouldn't they make better grocery shopping choices (it always seems to be the low-end beers that fly off the shelves too). If you're afraid all you're going to have to do is guzzle beer when it snows, gee maybe now's the time to try a better brew. *wink*

  • johnny2times Jan 17, 2013
