i agree we should strive for that, if there's a rational solution. i'm just not sure what the rational solution is. what steps do you take today to keep the guns out of the hands of people that will murder somebody tomorrow? an assault weapons ban won't do that. a limit on the rounds a magazine can hold won't do that. better background checks MAY work in some limited cases. limiting the number of guns somebody can own won't do that. i'm just not sure what will work.

Are you open to changes that might avoid some of those killing that might not happen if there was no gun, if they don't remove your right to own your gun? Will you return to defend your position or have you already darted off to attack someone else?

you're absolutely right, letscare. nobody would die from guns if nobody had a gun. now, tell me how you make it so that nobody has a gun.

Yes, if someone wants to kill another badly enough they are going to find a way to do it. However, I that is not always the case. Sometimes it's someone who got angry, had access to a gun, and later regretted it. Once the trigger is pulled, it's too late......one is dead and the other is in prison. What about those people......do we just write them off??
We obviously aren't going to agree on this...you don't like guns...I have guns for hunting and to protect myself and my family..but if someone tries to break into my house and I'm home, they won't get past the door...can you say the same for yours?

I can't say it because I don't know it's true...if you want to kill someone badly enough you are going to find a way to do it...we really don't know enough details about the crime to make any judgements yet anyway...was it a burglary gone wrong, civil dispute, random murder...no telling
