This is exactly why I don't think losing to State on the road was all that bad for Duke. There's not many teams in the ACC that will beat Duke; they just happened to play one on the road last Saturday.
Post by caearly009
Maryland will be a big test for NCSU.

Curry is fine. Just a mild ankle sprain. I believe he'll play but may be limited against GT.... Kelly is out indefinitely. No certain timetable, but I think he'll be out for at least 3-4 more weeks. There is a rumor he may not return at all... but that's just a rumor floating around. Coach K usually stays quiet about injuries.

I'm very happy State made a big jump in the national rankings! The season is only beginning in January so plenty of basketball left to go. To be able to sustain this effort and level of play will be key for how far this team will go. Next test- the Terps!

Seems like Duke should rebound easily since the loss came early on in conference play. I don't see the Yellow Jackets giving you much of a problem in Durham on Thursday night. Any time table for the return of Curry and Kelly?
Post by foghat001
Lowe can coach, but not in college as K cannot in the NBA.

And i cannot believe how you guys think that Kelly would have made that much of a difference, who was he going to guard, CJ or Howell ? Because Plumlee had a tough time trying to guard both of them, and his foot movement is a whole lot faster than Kelly. So please stop dreaming, your Dookies just to a good team, my wolfpack, and it should have happen last yr in cameron.

Duke beat 8 teams in the Top 100 before losing to State. That's why they didn't drop much. If they don't lose again before Selection Sunday, they will still get the #1 overall seed. Seeding isn't based on where you're ranked, it's based on the full body of work.

It might have happened after Duke beat the 2005 Sean May/Felton team. Before that, Wojo's senior day over UNC in 98. But I'm not 100% sure.

The current rankings make sense. I was wondering if Duke would slip at all since Michigan lost as well. Duke lost to a ranked team, on the road, so they shouldn't have slipped further than #3, and State deserves to have moved up significantly in the rankings IMHO. While no team wants to lose a game, this loss does take the pressure off Duke to remain undefeated, and the win gives State something to build on.

I think Brown is very important to State as well. He's become very skilled running the point. Howell is a beast, and CJ can slice his way to the basket even when he's being double teamed. With State having five to six players scoring in double figures, they're very tough to beat.

Hokie you made some good points. I think the 6 players that get the minutes for State, none can be replaced. Especially Brown. If Brown goes out who will run the point? Lewis hasnt showed much at all. Too slow, cant guard, cant shoot, cant break a defense down, not strong enough. He has alot of work to do over the summer. But I still like the the kid, and think he will be a solid player. Who else can play the point? Maybe Purvis? As for sportnutz, again Duke has never rushed the court during a regular season game? No one will answer that question.

Number 1 or 3 or 103...I'm still a Duke fan!
