For those of you wondering why these types of incendiary stories guaranteed to bring out the good ol boys from under every rock are so common here, think about it. What kind of article is guaranteed to generate the most virulent response from people? What brings out the emotions rather than the reason? What is guaranteed to generate POSTS and return VISITS to this site over and over again? As soon as the photos are posted and the words "crime" or similar are included in the headline, you are GUARANTEED a huge response from every "person of high moral standing" who is of the opinion that anyone unlike them in design or configuration must be less of a human. And what does SITE TRAFFIC do? It INCREASES the REVENUE STREAM of the site owner. The more traffic to a web site, NO MATTER OF WHAT TYPE, will create numbers that the site owner can now parade in front of prospective advertisers. So your comments are filling their pockets. Keep up the good work!

Sorry, I just don't see how owning a gun alone would have helped this couple. Unless you sleep with a loaded gun under your pillow which is not a smart idea. What would have helped was an alarm system or a dog. This would have alerted them first so they could get the gun if they had one. The number one deterent to robbers is a dog. Any dog. They just don't want the hassle of dealing with one. The dog would have started barking as soon as the glass was broken. Trixie

Doing it your way worked out so well for them. No dog. No gun. Later the police come and do a report. I have another idea.

bfry40 I meant our new Governor Pat Mccrory who just moved into the executive mansion on Jones and Person, NO disrespect , ALL of our leaders and citizens alike deserve a safe place to live and sleep at night. Saying this because I hope that the discussion of the state of our neighborhoods is opened and hashed out without racism and with real solutions for the presrnt and future. You better believe I know our mayor is a woman and I knew our Governor Perdue, as well am closely aware of the city and county government , and VERY VERY suportive of our police. That said, you gonna question whether I VOTE?? I sure do! I AM HAPPY WITH THE 2012 outcome, and filled with respect. I also know more about guns than most people do in this lifetime. AND live in the Oak-hood. Caring about the people who live here , civil rights and human rights and keeping it real is my every day. Life is precious, not always fair. I pray healing will come, and justice.

Trdpeanut: its been changed since it was originally listed. But still could be a hand bit of info for thieves

"Prosecutors say the man could be paralyzed."

I met a guy in a nursing home. He was in a motorized wheelchair. He told me he was attacked by several young men who liked a gold chain he had around his neck. He was kicked in the head, breaking his neck. He told me that police caught the attackers and they all went to jail, seven years I think he said.

They are all out of jail now, and he will be in that wheelchair for the rest of his life, with limited use of one hand. The doctors were surprised that he regained any use of his hand.

Yessireee. That punishment fit the crime.

These criminals should be locked up for 60 years without parole.

Another case of criminals commiting crimes when they should have been locked up for the ones they commited previously. Something is very wrong with our legal system if you ask me - it's hard for me to call it our "justice" system when justice is seldom achieved.

All I have time to say is throw the book at these two. It's a shame people can't feel safe in their own home. I'm sad to know the man who was shot may be paralyzed for life.

Why in God's name was Shabar out on the street? He broke into a home and robbed someone at gunpoint on Dec 11. Charge the judge who allowed him bond as an accessory to this week's break-in and shooting. I hope the family sues the judge for millions. What good is a "bond" to a man who may now be paralyzed for the rest of his life because a lame judge let Shabar back on the street.

Why do we have a system that keeps giving criminals numerous chances before they lock them up. I say do away with the 3 strikes. They know the system, they know they will get away with alot before they face any consequences. Kind of like the parent that keeps yelling at their child and threatening various consequences if the child doesn't stop whatever it is that is casuing a problem, threats they never follow through with, rules they never enforce, consequences that are never felt by the child.
