Carolina fans doing what they do best....crying and complaining. Face it, you got beat by Virginia, your coach is washed up, and your team sux. Yes, I admit, it was hilarious that the Cavaliers spanked the holes, but it's time to move on now.. they have to get game ready and prepare for their next loss.

State has lost 2 games to teams with a combined record of 23-1 going into this weekend. Maryland lost to a not that good Kentucky team that has more losses than the 2 teams State lost to combined. A close win is a win regardless, any conference road win is a good win. State did not play good against BC and BC played a little better than they probably are, but they are not that bad of a team, this is not last year and BC had won 5-6 in a row before State. Maryland is very good, but State and Maryland will probably split this year. Duke should beat State next Saturday, but it will be close and if State comes to play, it could be very interesting. They are one of the few teams in the conference that has the talent to match up with Duke man for man. And States freshmen will get better and better. Warren has been good from the start and now Purvis is starting to live up to his ability, remember he missed several games until he was cleared by the NCAA. Just like any other team, State has to build chemistry with the new players, but it is happening, State would have folded against BC in other years. As far as all the talk about Leslie, sure he has an attitude, but it is getting better, he had a bad game against BC, but he also scored over 20 two times in his last 5 games and his average is going up. But you have a game like that against BC where your starters aren't doing anything except Wood in the last 2 minutes and you have Purvis come off the bench and score 19. State could stand another big man off the bench, but this team will be fine and get better and better as the year goes. And they will still have some close games to teams that are not as good as they are like BC, every team will.

Despite Duke being #1, this may turn out to be another bummer of a year for the ACC. Only one conference game in the books, and already almost half the league (BC, Clemson, GT, VT and WF) are hopeless. FSU and Miami will have to do more if they're going dancing in March, and despite tonight's win, UVA still doesn't impress me that much. UNC isn't headed for one of their glory years, and State still can't seem to get interested in playing up to their potential, despite Gottfried's efforts. Maryland is the only ACC team, I think, that's underrated.
And as far as UNC looking like a team that is having to attend classes for the first time in a long time, they've definitely been schooled.
rherring23 Jan 6, 11:19 p.m.
Yeah most teams with chemistry issues have all 5 starters averaging in double figures. And BC will not that good of a team are not that bad of a team either. Any team in the ACC can lose on the road at any time. Right now BC is better than WF, Clemson, VT, and from the looks of the way FSU has been playing, better than they are at this point. Use to think you were p[retty smart, but I guess your son going to UNC has rubbed off on you. Over the last year your posts are becoming more and more like Tarheel posts. Maryland is very good, knew they would be, but saying State should not be ranked is a joke. They had a terrible game against OSU and lost to Michigan in a tough game at Michigan, who may be the best team in the country. They beat BC at BC by 5, so if a team goes 30-0 and don't win a game by more than 5 points, they should not be ranked? Duke, Michigan and everybody else will win some games by less than 5 points on the road this year to teams they should kill. State has lost 2 of their first 12 games by teams that had a combined record of 23-1 going into this weekend. Sounds like you are bitter that your son's team and your own team aren't very good this year, yep, starting to sound just like a Tarheel fan. Lord, UNC embarrasses themselves and you are starting to embarrass VT.
rayraynral Jan 6, 11:07 p.m.
They look like a team that is having to attend classes for the first time in a long time.
Sauras69 Jan 6, 10:54 p.m.
I'm glad that you responded. I responded about what you stated about what Roy stated...about McDonald and Strick about not being the same players before their injuries. Come on. Gosh. UNC still has more AA's than most all Div I athletes. This is what I told my hard-headed son on Friday night. I wrote that UVA would slow it down to beat a more talented running team.
redistrumps Jan 6, 10:46 p.m.
In the words of SO MANY UNC fans on these boards over the years, How can you people be UNC fans, they are such losers LOL
That crow is really CHEWY isn't it?
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:45 p.m.
Before I forget, congrats to UVA. They were the better team, and they deserved the win.
wlcat609 Jan 6, 10:45 p.m.
My observation was it looked like 5 guys playing as TEAM versus 5 others playing as individuals - especially on offense when the UNC 'system' was playing 'ring around the three point line'!
UVA's play reminded me of games played in Pullman, Washington when the Washington State Cougars took the court.
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:44 p.m.
Injuries have nothing to do with Carolina's woes. The guys are soft and they need to grow a pair and play up to their talent. It will take time.
I saw where VT lost a player with a broken foot - he'll be out for 6-8 weeks, I think.
Tony Bennett is a good coach - I've always thought so.
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:42 p.m.
I thought that as well - we could have Kendall and he wouldn't have the talent on the floor to pass the ball to. He made the right decision, and I wish him a lot of success in the NBA. I knew he'd be a hard act to follow. Paige is a good shooter though.
Sauras69 Jan 6, 10:41 p.m.
Injuries happen. UNC still has all of these AA's. We lost a starter with a blown out foot. What if your team had only 8 on a scholarship? I called this one. UVA has a solid coach with decent players that are coachable. Big difference when they listen to the coach.
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:40 p.m.
I see what you mean, Deac, but I think State will get their act together and play more consistently. I'm looking forward to seeing Duke play in Raleigh; I think it will tell a lot about State. State has a lot of talent, but "CJ" needs to keep his head on straight, and if he doesn't, there's plenty of guys who can step up. But Maryland did improve over last year. Turgeon is a good coach.
mxteam44 Jan 6, 10:39 p.m.
No kidding! Of course, Kendall made the best decision. I mean, who is he going to make those great passes to this year? He saw what was coming, and took the money and ran! Can't say that I blame him either.
rsmith6120 Jan 6, 10:38 p.m.
Agree. They had no fire under them and not playing to their potential. Roy is go to the wood shed for this one for his coaching.
Deacons Jan 6, 10:37 p.m.
I think Maryland might be better than State. I do not know what it is but State just does not seem to be nearly as good as I and most thought they would be. Duke is easily the best in the league.
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:36 p.m.
Yeah - I hate to see those jump shots that go clink, clank, clunk off the rim - with 20 seconds left on the shot clock!
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:35 p.m.
Agreed, mx. This will be a tough year, but we have to be patient. They'll get better, but I sure do miss Kendall Marshall!
mxteam44 Jan 6, 10:35 p.m.
Roy needs to bench the next player that takes a fade-away jumper with more than 5 seconds left on the shot clock. There's no reason for it!
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:34 p.m.
State won a conference road game, and those don't come easily. They gutted out a win that in other years they may have lost. I've never liked CJ; he has attitude and Gott has worked hard to get him to perform.
mxteam44 Jan 6, 10:33 p.m.
Ahhh! Gotcha! I agree, JMM isn't living up to the hype, but I'm not so sure he was ever meant to be our main post player either. He has the body type to play "bigger" than 6-9......I just don't think he has the mindset for it yet. He's more of a finesse player, and he can't do that trying to bang around with the ACC bigs.
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:31 p.m.
I saw your post. Mine was just a few posts down from yours on the first page. I knew this would be a tough game; UNC barely squeeked out a win last year and the Heels were much better then.
You think Maryland is better than State? Duke is by far the best in the ACC. I think State could be second, then Maryland. Who knows after that, all I know is that this is going to be tough year for Carolina and Roy.
Sauras69 Jan 6, 10:30 p.m.
Duke and Maryland are clearly in front folks. No one even mentioned Maryland on here except me. State isn't even a 23rd team more than UVA. BC had this team on the ropes at home. That tells me enough. Luck counts. Wood shows up finally. That's all it takes. State should fall out regardless of the BC win. State has some chemistry issues. Leslie played like his personality. Which one shows up??? It's the truth.
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:26 p.m.
Roy has said that McDonald and Strick aren't the same players they were before their injuries, and he's probably right.
Stilllearnin Jan 6, 10:26 p.m.
Hey DooksucksV3, are you out there???????
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:25 p.m.
Oh - I think I misunderstood. I was referring to James Michael MacAdoo. For all the hype surrounding him, he just doesn't seem to "get it". He needs to be able to play the post, and he just doesn't.
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:24 p.m.
I see potential, but it's going to take time to develop. These guys just seem soft - no determination.
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:23 p.m.
These guys just don't have that "killer instinct". They're almost meek by nature, other than Strick and Bullock. They're soft spoken - no swagger or confidence.
As for Roy calling TO's: I'm not sure it would have helped.
mxteam44 Jan 6, 10:22 p.m.
Isn't James a freshman? Are you think of someone else?
McDonald is my biggest disappointment! He just hasn't seemed to come back from his knee injury like I had hoped he would.
Sauras69 Jan 6, 10:22 p.m.
Go back to the first page. First comment. Now. You know the rest of this story.
My list right now is Duke and Maryland. MD is the 2nd best team. State, Miami, FSU, and UVA are tied for what 3-5th. No way State is the 23th team. Maryland will move up tonight. UNC will grow up.
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:20 p.m.
There's always football??
jayparks0228 Jan 6, 10:20 p.m.
Can't shoot a 3 when needed...Always leaving an opposing player WIDE OPEN for a 3 pt att...McAdoo is WEAK...I'm sorry about that last one because I don't like criticizing college players, but JMM is not what we were expecting. He's worse than HB at this point. Does this team lack chemistry??? Any discipline??? Any heart??? Looking more like NIT bound if we're lucky, and I refuse to watch that thing!!! Just had to vent!!!
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:18 p.m.
Exactly. Hate to say it, but even Doh is right: there is no floor leader.
Gunnstigator Jan 6, 10:17 p.m.
I know. There was a reason he sat on the bench for most of last year. A lot of people got their hopes up when he did well in the tourney, but I don't see much with him.
gsms69 Jan 6, 10:15 p.m.
Are you ready for him to go?
mxteam44 Jan 6, 10:14 p.m.
We all knew this was going to be a crazy season.
west1117722 Jan 6, 10:10 p.m.
i ve said all year this is a no talent team, MacDonald, Hubert, Strickland, Paige, Hairston none of this guys can shoot!!!!!!!! i said it at the beganing of the year i will say it at the end WASTED SCHOLORSHIPS again WASHED UP ROY
melmika Jan 6, 10:08 p.m.
There's always next year.
RD n NC Jan 6, 10:00 p.m.
Honestly, i dont see the talent
grh90 Jan 6, 9:59 p.m.
Jay williams said the same thing.
RD n NC Jan 6, 9:58 p.m.
Congrats to VA, made us play their game and whipped our tails at it
tarheel4122 Jan 6, 9:57 p.m.
No timeouts by Roy. No defense. No way we should be this bad with this talent.Starts with the guy on bench
kkevin7048 Jan 6, 9:56 p.m.
Me thinks the HOLES Sux !
mxteam44 Jan 6, 9:51 p.m.
He's only played b-ball for 3 years though. He has a LOT to learn, but he has the body to at least make guys think twice about driving to the basket.
grh90 Jan 6, 9:49 p.m.
5 individuals on the floor no team play what so ever.
mxteam44 Jan 6, 9:49 p.m.
Anyone remember the Cosby show? Remember Rudy's friend Kenny (Rudy called him Bud)?
Here's a link to his pic. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/photopost/showphoto.php/photo/34386
Tell me he doesn't look like Bullock! LOL!
RD n NC Jan 6, 9:48 p.m.
Strickland needs to chill
ncstateforever Jan 6, 9:45 p.m.
Right mx. Paige ain't showing up either.
ncstateforever Jan 6, 9:44 p.m.
I hope you're right, but now he's not sure what to do, his footwork is terrible, he gets inside position, but doesn't block out and he can't finish inside.
mxteam44 Jan 6, 9:43 p.m.
Bullock is the only reason UNC is even CLOSE in this game!
