See thats why you thought Romney had a chance. You watch too much TV. Think for yourself. TONS of public info on every candidate running for office to make an educated decision without one minute of "media". Bunch of sheep.

"Right. How many times have you heard them broadcast a story about obama or perdue that was negative? It would almost be worth it for me to get cable, at least I would be able to find something on there that wasn't constantly fawning over the dems."

I've tried to respond to this already, but the censors must have deemed somthing wrong with it. Last try.

What you are doing is accusing of bias before actual bias can be had. No they don't have an Obama tracker, and to be unbiased, they should.

    You also said this:

"They can't wait to start tearing him down all the while calling themselves "fair and unbiased"."

Again, that is essentially accusing of bias before they can actually be biased. Wait for them to do something that is actually biased, then complain about it.

  • piene2 Jan 7, 2013

"For some of y'all to hate WRAL so much you sure do post alot of comments on WRAL news stories....WRAL is not the only news station in the Triangle....if y'all are so unhappy perhaps you should switch stations....but then you'd just have to gripe on the NBC17 or WTVD websites, that is if you don't already...*end rant* lol

It reminds me of the people that say, "Pornography is sick and disgusting. I should know because I watch it eight hours a day."

  • Steven Jan 7, 2013

If you don't like the viewpoint of a particular media source, why do you continue to patronize it? Seems rather stupid on your part that you continue to complain about it, yet you won't do the one thing you can do about it which is cut it off.

  • goldenosprey Jan 7, 2013

Let me guess, sillywabbit, you think Fox News is Fair & Balanced, right?

Bev was far from my favorite, but at least she didn't come with her own Cheney figure built into her administration.

I have been searching for the "Perdue promis tracker" and the "Obama promise tracker" and I just can't seem to find it? Whats up with that?

  • annrally Jan 7, 2013

Can we post on the "promise tracker" blog now? All the "bad"comments have been removed. Thanks in advance WRAL. For a moment I thought that you were allowing your politics to get in the way of "reporting the news"!

  • driverkid3 Jan 7, 2013

Hill55::::but I fully expect the media to come done much harder on the new folks than they did the old.

I bet WRAL is just waiting and watching for Governor McCrory to sneeze or blink the wrong way, then they will pounce with all kinds of negative things.

  • hooter483 Jan 7, 2013

Why has WRAL shutdown post on the McCrory promise tracker blog? I all of my years here in NC, I have NEVER seen anything like this for Democrats!!!

    WRAL that is just WRONG!!!!

  • driverkid3 Jan 7, 2013

Gravy Pig::::the absence of a prior tracker for Bev and Obama does not mean that this is biased.

Right. How many times have you heard them broadcast a story about obama or perdue that was negative? It would almost be worth it for me to get cable, at least I would be able to find something on there that wasn't constantly fawning over the dems.

Plenty ::::CoupsHere is one for Obama. Don't think Perdue had one. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/obameter/

The point is, WRAL did NOT do this with the president or perdue.

  • wildpig777 Jan 7, 2013

lumberman::::What a double standard WRAL has.

Amen a thousand times over. They can't wait to start tearing him down all the while calling themselves "fair and unbiased". What a crock that is!- driver

you cant talk about WRAL like that, i'm the only one allowed to do that.

  • Relic Jan 7, 2013

"There is no hidden agenda. There is no massive coverup conspiracy"

I agree. McCrory made some specific promises and statements when he was campaigning (as opposed to others) and the press and public have a right to track the progress on those promises or pledges regardless of the media format. Bev Perdue did have a tracker. It was called the NC Democratic Party that told her not to run. In the meantime anyone that wants to run against McCrory in 2018 better start now if they want anyone to know their name by then.

  • driverkid3 Jan 7, 2013

  • Relic Jan 7, 2013

Aside from all the left/right bashing and yada yada about "trackers" and such I'd like to point out a couple of things about the swearing in ceremony which was broadcast live on WRAL and WUNC. First, it was a well-done traditional ceremony that focused on the office first. Secondly, Bev Perdue and her staff are to be congratulated for making such a gracious exit and even joking with Governor McCrory as the symbolic stamping of the Great Seal Of The State was done. Third, the pastor from Charlotte that lead the invocation drove home several very good points. It would behoove McCrory to get a transcript of that and put it in his office to look at from time to time. Lastly, McCrory kept his comments brief, knowing that the inaguration speech is still to come. I have been a very vocal critic of Perdue's administration but her exit was gracious and professional. Now "track" away...that's what the press is supposed to do anyway.

  • Corporal Snark Jan 7, 2013

And now 2 of the 5(!) total comments on the McCrory Promise Tracker have been deleted. I saw them earlier and they were in no way objectionable, unless you believe in this station's political bias.

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!

  • GravyPig Jan 7, 2013

""Bickering about "the didn't have one for (fill in your Democrat of choice)" is just that, bickering. We can't go back and change what has already happened, but we can move forwards and track what these politicians say and hold them ALL to it." --GravyPig

OK so where is the Obama tracker? It is present day. I guess what ever fits your agenda."

Have you thought that maybe they haven't come up with the personel to keep track of this stuff? Or maybe they had a meeting and someone suggested that they start doing these fact checking pages? There are plenty of explanations for why they haven't put up an Obama page yet.

There is no hidden agenda. There is no massive coverup conspiracy. Relax. Just because there are no dirty dishes in the kitchen, doesn't mean I didn't eat breakfast. Give it some time. If WRAL doesn't post another tracker, then you can start screaming bias. Not that any of that will change their mind though.

  • Mr. Middle of the Road Jan 7, 2013

A part of Adolf Hitler's strategy to convince the German people to follow him was to claim the press was biased againat him. When the press tried to report his evil, his followers thought it untrue. Just saying.

  • GravyPig Jan 7, 2013

"gravy pig But obama is still in office it would be just as easy to set a tracker up now for him."

Sure, and if WRAL wishes to be unbiased then they should start providing these trackers for everyone. As I said before, the absence of a prior tracker for Bev and Obama does not mean that this is biased. It merely means that they had not thought of providing such a service previously.

  • Grand Union Jan 7, 2013

McCrorys promises are of no interest as its Popes wishes that will be what happens. I thought it was funny Pope saying the McCrory will make the decisions......yeah right.....only if he wants to have someone with a few million dollars in the kitty opposing him come reelection.

  • NCPictures Jan 7, 2013

Why is WRAL blocking comments on their so called tracker for McCrory? Where is the Obama tracker? Where was the Perdue tracker????? SHAME ON YOU WRAL!!!! I think we ALL need to find a new source, as I am NOT going to give you my traffic for you to sell and make money off of your one sided drivel.

"Bickering about "the didn't have one for (fill in your Democrat of choice)" is just that, bickering. We can't go back and change what has already happened, but we can move forwards and track what these politicians say and hold them ALL to it." --GravyPig

  • josephlawrence43 Jan 7, 2013

@piene2: Thanks. Here it is: Accuracy and fairness are the cornerstones of our local news effort. As A.J. Fletcher said in 1956, "...to inform the public without bias or favor is this station's highest duty." Seems as if WRAL has a high mark to reach---and from what I've seen thus far, a long, long way to go.

  • lumberman Jan 7, 2013

gravy pig But obama is still in office it would be just as easy to set a tracker up now for him. But we all know that is not going to happen. obama gets a free pass and every one here knows it. I am not sure if it is because he is a democrat or because he is the first black president or because because he is not republican it might be all three but WRAL has yet to publish anything against obama. Wral has not even run a story suggesting that he be held accountable for anything that he has done or should not have done.

  • Glass Half Full Jan 7, 2013

Very disappointed in WRAL. I always expected to get my news objectively. I see that's not how WRAL is going to work. As much as I've enjoyed being a loyal viewer, I'm not feeling very loyal right now. I expect a promise tracker for all politicians from WRAL now.

  • benhansen74 Jan 7, 2013

Did anyone else notice? When the camera panned to those in attendance at the "private" (what's up with that Mr. Transparent Governor?) swearing in and caught the Artful Popery, his lips were indeed moving as McCorker took the oath.

On a sad note, the lights also dimmed a moment as we enter the dark ages.

  • free2bme Jan 7, 2013

It really does not matter about a promise tracker. He really did not promise to do anything for NC that I can remember. There were a few protestors at his inauguration Sat because of Pope. I am sure we will see more of that for this governor.

  • Deb1003 Jan 7, 2013

Wow, Perdue was our Governor for 4 yrs and people spell her name as Purdue...says something.

  • Deb1003 Jan 7, 2013

I'm coming to this forum because the comments page for "Promise Tracker for McCrory" is closed on the main page. Where was the "Promise Tracker" for Easley, Perdue and Obama? How is this objective reporting?

  • lumberman Jan 7, 2013

gravy pig there is another story that WRAL talks about their promise tracker for McCrory. But they closed that one for comments because every one was asking why obama did not have a promise tracker.

  • areyououtofyourmind Jan 7, 2013

"Here is one for Obama. Don't think Perdue had one."

You are missing the point. That tracker is not from our LOCAL media. No one would be complaining if WRAL had a tracker for Purdue AND mentioned it the day she took office!

  • GravyPig Jan 7, 2013

I think you guys read too much into a news article. I just re-read this to look for the bias that you say is happening. I just don't see it. They talked about the ceremony, some election history, swearing his cabinet members in, the challenges he will face, a little background on Mcrory, and a breif bit about Tata and Pope.

I also didn't see this "promise tracker" that people have mentioned.

What it all boils down to is this: If you think your news outlet is slanted, then why keep reading it? Why not move over to another news provider that you deem to be more in line with the truth?

  • Plenty Coups Jan 7, 2013

"Let's see how soon they go after women's rights....

    As if ....

When was the last time a woman was at one of Barry's meetings?"

I'm really not going to get into this today, but why with every subject do you feel the need to somehow drag Obama into it? Last I checked, the GOP was the one who let women down by letting the "violence against women act" lapse. What does the gender makeup of any meeting Obama has have to do with women's rights?

That being said, I am waiting to see what Mcrory has for the state of NC. Will he help us out, or mess things up even worse. Time will tell.

  • Life-goes-on. Jan 7, 2013

I'm all for holding politicians accountable for their campaign promises. I think the timing is interesting and wish WRAL had began this promise tracker when Obama and Perdue took office. But the good news is that they can go back to do some research and see how our liberal politicians are doing as well. How about doing that WRAL?

  • pappybigtuna1 Jan 7, 2013

Sounds like WRAL has put a fire under the tar pot, while the rest of the reporter are gathering feathers, Are they going to allow McCory to finish his first day as governor?

  • areyououtofyourmind Jan 7, 2013

"So what? Is not that what posters here and others did to President Obama and governor Purdue? What goes around, comes around."

Um, we "posters" have no moral or ethical obligation to objectivity as the press does. Pretty basic. Like Public Relations 101 stuff. See? Get it? Pretty easy to spot the difference?

Moderator, if you censor this sarcastic comment while letting his slide, that will be absolute garbage.

  • GravyPig Jan 7, 2013

"After years of suffering through criminals like Mike Easley and incomptetents like Dumplin Purdue, NC has a real Governor!

After 100 years of single party corrupt leftist control we have a real legislature!

For NC at least, the future looks bright!"

100 years and you can only find fault in the last two governors? How do you explain the rest of that 100 year stint?

  • superman Jan 7, 2013

By the way who is the new governor? Art Pope or McCory? Who will get to sit in the governors chair?
