And I thought they were going to recommend closing Fayetteville street to vehicular traffic and turn it into a pedestrian mall. They seem to close it down about once a month for festivals anyway. Maybe they should look into that.

Good luck getting people to use the crosswalks on Capital Blvd. People get off the bus and will actually walk behind the bus to cross the street instead of going through the crosswalk in front of the bus. People are always standing in the medians trying to cross at places they should not. No amount of wasted money on sidewalks will fix laziness.

Good! Now can we stop having turn signals at the same time as the crosswalk sign says walk on the Avent Ferry/Western Blvd. intersection? I don't think any amount of "educating drivers and pedestrians on their responsibilities and ordinances when it comes to sharing the roadways" or building bridges and/or tunnels is going to help there.

Start ticketing jaywalkers and start ticketing people, mainly in SE Raleigh who use the road as a walkway when there is a sidewalk 5 feet away.

If you could teach the pedestrians downtown not to cross the street when the sign says, "Don't Walk" that would be a miracle. Either they can't read or don't care. I've even heard some say, "Hit me, I'll sue!" I said, "Not if you are dead."
