Bill Brasky:"Jobs have been a net loss since he took office. Hope you like living in your mother's basement."

I realize it's a serious statement, but the second half made me laugh. Thanks.

  • Offshore Jan 4, 1:45 p.m.

Not necessarily, but if rich folks paid their share it would be a great start.

    goldenosprey

same old same old. Any one for a flat tax? Where "everybody" pays?

    Correction on my statement-

"I see where the state says our unemployment rate is 7.8%???? really??"

**the 7.8% was national not just NC.

  • wilsontopcatz Jan 4, 10:00 a.m.

    @ Morrigan

Im talking about all across the state and its really more than 6000.

    @ lumberman

at least your local government is trying to keep jobs and businesses open. They are letting the sweepstakes stay open and there are quite a few there and that means jobs for your area. There are many other places being forced out of business, over 1000 are being closed down by the state and over $200,000,000 will be gone from NC Economy. But Hey.....we are such a rich state and our government has balanced our budget so well..we must not need jobs. I see where the state says our unemployment rate is 7.8%???? really?? 155,000 jobs created? I missed those job interviews!

Obama ran on the promise that his policies would lower the unemployment rate. He is at fault because he failed to bring congress together like he promised he would do and his healthcare mandate is causing more small business and large businesses to be forced to make people part time or cut jobs because of costs. Yet he can give Hollywood and algae growers tax cuts and incentives. His policies are not creating good jobs or even government jobs like he promised.

  • NCSUEngineerFC Jan 4, 8:27 a.m.

"There are no Jobs of substance out there. People are underemployed for their education level or hold part time/ contract employment. This is the worst job opportunity market I have ever seen since I came out of graduate school in 1996. Where I am employed now, they are cutting back on contractor hours because of the health care law. There are now talks of letting folks go too. Our business is flat, and has been for almost three and a half years. I am happy I still have a job, but I am not sure how long that will last." -redwolfone

I too am very happy to have a job, and one that I enjoy at that. With that being said, our business is very flat and we've been operating slightly in the red for the past 3-4 years. I too hope that mine lasts and all I can do is help the company find ways to cut costs through lowered capital expenditures and reduced service costs.

NC owes Obama over $2billion for 99 weeks of unemployment benefits to pay people who don't want to work....now, Obama has signed another bill giving them another year extension of unemployment benefits. Can you please tell me where I can sign up for this extension, Thanks

"So you blame Obama for a negative employment trend that started in December of 2007? Not to mention he was able to turn that around to a positive number by December 2010"

“My dog ate my homework”...or, “I forgot”, or “I did not know I was responsible.” He owns this, and the next four years will make sure of that. You people who never take responsibility are pathetic freeloaders. Just like the PBO campaign that always said it’s Bush’s fault…pathetic. Unfortunately, the uninformed will believe it as long as they get their check from the man.

Jobs have been a net loss since he took office. Hope you like living in your mother's basement.

  • Boogalooboy Jan 3, 7:11 p.m.

Maybe some get it now, all the Obama freaks running around blissfully pointing to the unemployment rates dipping in December/November...(may have had something to do with companies hiring for the holidayz, ya reckon) now they don't need them so the rate will climb, but I'm sure it's Bush's fault.

  • redwolfone Jan 3, 7:05 p.m.

  • redwolfone Jan 3, 7:03 p.m.

All of us will be paying 2% more a month in taxes not to mention the increase in health care rates that go into effect this month. This will push the economy back into a hole. Thanks PBO.

Being a disabled veteran who has been unemployed for more than 2 years, I can assure you the job market is far worse than the media will admit. The few job openings posted every month receive hundreds of applicants. Even when I have received a job offer, the companies always back out due to Obamacare or that taking-on a disabled vet is a huge risk when hundreds of healthy unemployed folks are available. Every major corporation that has sent a job offer, requires a full physical, even after being approved by their doctors, ends in them hiring someone "more qualified".

  • V-Vet 72-75 Jan 3, 4:35 p.m.

Halifax county one of the worst in the state. The people here know or at least think it is better not to work and they do not. Go in a Food Lion here and 8 out of 10 will have a welfare card. I hate going in to buy groceries. I can tell that I am one of the few that actually pays for my stuff. Want to see government dependency at it best come to Halifax county and take a look around.

Interesting considering three months ago when it was going down it was thanks to Obama. You silly liberals, just wait till Obamacare gets fully implemented.

  • cavewoman192003 Jan 3, 3:59 p.m.

8.3% in Moore County. Maybe the state should look at the unemployment rate and the amount of citizens that require public assistance to survive and see what can be done to get more people working; but improving the counties to work to get people off the system instead of expanding the budget to make room for more.

Our county just got word that Gullistan Carpets is closing, guess the unemployment rate climbs here, because there just went 400 jobs GONE....

  • wilsontopcatz Jan 3, 3:58 p.m.

Its about to go up across the state. There will be about 6000 people to be unemployed. I hope they all get their unemployment and help from DSS. Being the state put all these people out of work and 6000 jobs will be very hard to find, now the state can pay them and feed them.

  • WhatWereOnceVicesAreNowHabits Jan 3, 3:55 p.m.

Why is everyone blaming just Obama? We have Republicans controlling the state (minus Governor in November), we have Republicans controlling US congress...This appears to me to be a joint affort.

With that said, did any catch the "A year ago, the rate was 8.3 percent." So we are on an overall positive trend.

  • WooHoo2You Jan 3, 3:30 p.m.
