I hope there are communities all over the country learning about peripheral ties to victims from Sandy Hook. It is so painful, but only by experiencing this pain and being reminded of it do we gain the empathy and courage to make changes.

    So sorry for their loss.

You're right. If that principal and those teachers could have been armed, they might have stopped the gunman.

"the NRA and their warped version of the 2nd" - Grand Union

Does the NRA version differ from the Supreme Court? I remember a dude called Haggis Basher telling us the Constitution means what the Supreme Court says it means.

"confused "faith" with "religion"." - Relic

The lady said, "if you have faith, you know she’s in a better place". Sounds like religion and heaven to me. I'm glad she finds comfort in faith, and I'm sure she meant no harm, but people without religious faith can also endure.

My prayers to each and everyone of you. My heart aches for each of you, but one Day What a Glorious Day in Heaven it will Be for All of Us

Folks, this article is not the place to argue guns, etc. Or to pounce on a poor grieving Grandmother for her faith. There will be more forums on articles about the incident in the future where the gun/ammo/whatever issues can be hashed out. Can we not just for once look at the face of an innocent that was taken away from a loving family in this horrible event and simply have sympathy for their loss? Please?

"many without faith who carry on"

That's completely untrue. The faith may be in yourself but it is "faith" none the less. You have confused "faith" with "religion".

Oh yes, because prohibition works so well. If you take away guns from law abiding people, then only the criminals will have them. Where there is a will, there is a way.

I am so sorry for your loss.

  • Desiderata Jan 2, 3:39 p.m.

So sorry for your loss. The grandmother obviously was not thinking straight when she mentioned that only those with faith could go on Actually, having faith has nothing to do with moving on in your life, as there are many without faith who carry on. We all deal with life in our own ways, no one is better than another or more right.

  • ttc248 Jan 2, 2:47 p.m.

As a grandmother, my heart goes out to this family as well as the others. This is yet another instance of sorrow that simply cannot be explained away. I will continue to pray that those who are mentally ill will get better care so that these kinds of things don't keep repeating. God Bless you all in 2013.
