Hmmm National median for crime per sq mile is 39.3 Durham is 45 per sq mile Raleigh is 60 per sq mile So if Durham is smaller and has half the population you are more likely to be a victim of any kind of crime in Raleigh.... Taken from Neighborhood Scout.... From our analysis, we discovered that violent crime in Raleigh occurs at a rate higher than in most communities of all population sizes in America. The chance that a person will become a victim of a violent crime in Raleigh; such as armed robbery, aggravated assault, rape or murder; is 1 in 229. This equates to a rate of 4 per one thousand inhabitants.

Durhams is higher at 1 in 141 as expected but not DOUBLE..... Raleigh is safer but not the crime free haven people try to make it look like it is...

Click on the crime map for the stats in the top left of the box for Raleigh. Once again Raleigh is quickly catching up lately and I`m sure the stats for 2012 are going to be higher than 2011 ones you keep posting. I`m safer in Durham than Raleigh and my past 10yrs alone with being a victim in Raleigh has proved it to myself.
