  • yukonjohn3 Dec 20, 2012

We have been at more than 50 below zero all day!! It started out at -53 and warmed up to almost -50 late this afternoon. We are even wondering how cold it might get in the long, long night ahead. After today, YIPEEEE!!! Everyone in the northern hemisphere will be gaining daylight!! Hope ya'll don't get too bad of storms.

  • whatdidusay Dec 20, 2012

Not going to be a good hair day tomorrow when we meet our maker

  • Rebelyell55 Dec 20, 2012

It gonna be cold tomorrow, and windy, and Sunshine and, and I'm gonna stay home.

  • whyalltheproblems Dec 20, 2012

The world as we knew it ended years ago. Bye bye freedom

  • kikinc Dec 20, 2012

"It's the end of the world as we know it!"

    And I feel fine!

  • injameswetrust2003 Dec 20, 2012

Why can't the map colors match the color key at the top of the map? Come on, Giggles. Can't we look at that?

  • Skywatch_NC Dec 20, 2012

Those Mayans are really silly ...trying to predict at exactly when the world will end! lol

  • anderson Dec 20, 2012

I agree with jblake. I have never worked in meteorology but it is a big-time hobby of mine (I chase storms in central/eastern NC). Just not enough instability to give us much in the way of severe weather...though there probably will be some strong gusts tonight and tomorrow as the front comes through and behind it.

  • piknowles2 Dec 20, 2012

Who cares! We're all supposedly done tomorrow, anyway!

  • Uhavenoclu Dec 20, 2012

Who cares, tomorrow is the end of the world anyways.
So make sure all your bills are up to date or the collection people will be calling you all through eternity.

  • Uhavenoclu Dec 20, 2012

There is likely going to be a chance of possible high winds.
Stay inside or put on extra heavy duty spray or gel and your hair should be just fine.

  • simplelogic Dec 20, 2012

The regional radar is looking pretty impressive. Hard to imagine not getting something significant out of this.

  • robbyh Dec 20, 2012

Hope it doesn't ruin my thurs. night poker game!

  • starletta Dec 20, 2012

Well . . . if it thunders after midnight then technically it IS the start of winter. And, if it thunders in winter then 10 days later it is supposed to SNOW! Let it be so!

  • jblake1932 Dec 20, 2012

This front is following the same pattern as the one earlier. The upper level winds will weaken when it moves across the mountains due to the trough that will develop over us and will not be able to gain enough strength to produce any damage to our area. We may get a little rain, thats about all. Copy this because I'm correct on this one like before. After working in the Midwest arena, it's easy to see the patterns here in NC.

  • Brian Jenkins Dec 20, 2012

"Our rain chances will really pick up during the evening hours, and the dangerous portion of the storm makes its way to our area by midnight."

Overnight lows will dip into the low 30s and even upper 20s in spots Friday and Saturday night"

  • baldchip Dec 20, 2012

All you naysayers look at Mobile this morning. Tornados were supposedly on the ground just north of Mobile. This is a powerful front-with lots of energy.

Hopefully, the clouds will keep the heat down, which will cause less severe storms.

Stop whining about WRAL weather. Weather changes-alot-and forecasts can change. 50 miles either way can make a huge difference. WRAL does one of the better jobs in the US. Weather Channel and WRAL are on que together with this one!!

  • North Carolina Cutie Dec 20, 2012

Oh jeez, here we go again; this story will be pulled after nothing more than a few sprinkles pass the area...

  • McLovin Dec 20, 2012

its that global changes the forecast in a matter of minutes...if there wasnt global warming it would always be average and everything would be perfect...sigh

  • anderson Dec 20, 2012

Didn't we hear this same song and dance earlier this week and all it did was rain? Same ol same ol...hype hype to get viewers.

  • DeathRow-IFeelYourPain-NOT Dec 20, 2012

"..could stir up rain and thunderstorms in central and eastern North Carolina Thursday evening and overnight,.."

Its the END of the World!!! 12/21/12

  • undergroundsociety2 Dec 20, 2012

  • R_U_Nuts Dec 20, 2012

A prelude to the end of the world perhaps?

  • jblake1932 Dec 20, 2012

Yesterday, no mention of this "horrific" system coming here. Today, run for the hills. Still no confidence in the forecasting here on this site.
