the death penalty is to good for this hood trash.

  • superman Dec 21, 2012

We need the death penalty. Those guys shouldnt be wasting our air and breathing.

  • baldchip Dec 21, 2012

Westernwake1-maybe with a new governor who is smart and reasonable, and does not cater to left wind idealogs, we will get the death penalty back!!

If a case ever calls for the death penalty, it's this one.

  • itsyoureternalsoul Dec 20, 2012

Actually those four guys are too good to work

  • pedrogamboa11 Dec 20, 2012

Obviously these four suspect(s) all suffer from a mental illness and need help. Well, at least that's what I was expecting to read in the comments section until I saw that the suspects are "Black". I guess they dont get to kill people and be given an out such as mental illness. Go figure..

  • sillywabbitthepatriot Dec 20, 2012

    "Wonder how they got them."

Probably off the street from someone else or was potentially stolen. No gun laws needed.

  • jscott13 Dec 20, 2012

Guns in the hands of criminals...AGAIN. Wonder how they got them. Prayers to this beautiful boy's family. He will be with you always.

  • sillywabbitthepatriot Dec 20, 2012

"We should all challenge him to come on here or via the new channels"

I could care less what Rev. Barber has to say. Why? Because the ONLY time he speaks out is to cause contraversey. He is nothing but an aggitator.

  • JohnnyVoodoo Dec 20, 2012

My previous post was censored/denied because it contained issues about race. How unfortunate, being the topic matter of the story has everything to do about race. It wasn't the readers here that made it that way, it was from the words of the very suspects who murdered this innocent young man. If the suspecs would've been white and the victim was black, you can bet that the Rev.Barber himself would've been on here screaming for justice and making threats to hold rallies and protests. We should all challenge him to come on here or via the new channels, to make a statement denouncing this horrible race/hate crime that reflects on both the black community and race relations in general.

  • jcrew1979 Dec 20, 2012

Another senseless tragedy. God bless his family.

  • Wake1 Dec 20, 2012

So sorry for this mothers loss! He obviously was a good kid. We as a society should demand that these four are put away for good!!!!!

  • rightisright58 Dec 20, 2012

    This case screams Death Penalty!!

  • westernwake1 Dec 19, 2012

"North Carolina's NAACP President, Rev. Barber, is unusually quiet this time and slow to denoucne this obvious hate crime." - Triumph

Where is the voice of Rev. Barber to decry this hate crime. The criminal admitted to looking for a white person to rob. But we will never hear Rev. Barber speak out against this obvious racism.

  • fivetoolkid Dec 19, 2012

    bring back death penalty

  • RM24 Dec 19, 2012

More and more unarmed people are being killed!

  • whatdidusay Dec 19, 2012

midnightclay: You are being way to nice.

  • midnightclay Dec 19, 2012

  • whatdidusay Dec 19, 2012

Wake up people. It's getting worse everyday. Veteran killed in Fayetteville & now a young college student killed for no reason. Now the government wants to take our personal protection. It's got to stop

  • CuriousT Dec 19, 2012

    "........It's amazing how little they thought of someone('s) life. A cellphone, a sandwich, and 10 dollars....SMH" - Rebelyell55

It's HOW LITTLE they thought OF THEIR OWN LIVES. They're willing to be executed for that? They don't value their own lives much.

  • mayhem Dec 19, 2012

It's not just cute litte first graders who are the victims of our gun culture.

  • CuriousT Dec 19, 2012

    Triumph -

    1. It's not a "hate crime" unless it's white on black crime. Don't believe me? How many times have you seen a black person charged for a "hate crime"? So much for equality...
    2. The ONLY time that man wants to engage in any "meaningful racial dialogue" is when he's mad. Not interested in a shouting match because he can't HEAR another opinion when he's mad.

Personally, I'm sick to death of all of this. I think it's high time we stop dancing around the fact that over 200 years later we (USA) are still struggling with understanding each other.

When 9/11 happened do you remember the photo of everyone walking down the street afterwards? They were all THE SAME COLOR and HELPING EACH OTHER.....Why can't we all do this EVERY DAY?

    Just some thoughts,

  • Rebelyell55 Dec 19, 2012

slow to denoucne this obvious hate crime.

December 19, 2012 5:39 p.m.....................He can't, if he did, he would have to menition all the crimes going on in Durham now.

  • Rebelyell55 Dec 19, 2012

Easy target, hate crime, it all don't matter now that the young man is dead, what matters now is that the truth be known and these low life crimminal serve the max sentence possible. It's amazing how little they thought of someone life. A cellphone, a sandwich and 10 dollars.....SMH

  • dontstopnow Dec 19, 2012

It is definitely a horrible hate crime committed on this young man! They should all spend their lives on death row without possibility of parole!

  • Triumph Dec 19, 2012

North Carolina's NAACP President, Rev. Barber, is unusually quiet this time and slow to denoucne this obvious hate crime.

  • Chili Dec 19, 2012

More in depth coverage and quotes from one of the killers:

  • westernwake1 Dec 19, 2012

Joshua Proutey completely complied with the demands of these criminals handing over his wallet, cell phone, and sandwich...and they shot & killed him just for their entertainment.

I certainly hope that Jasmine Nikole Dottin, Christopher Daniel Cromartie Jr., Daniel Edward Henry and Quintell Raheem all get the death penalty they so richly deserve for this murder.
