    WHY!!!!!!

Our world is so messed up. As long as we have such lax people in government that feels like anything goes, it will get worse and worse. There is no accounting for things that are so wrong these days. It is all out in the open. Men with men, women with women all over the media. Just Turn your TV on and it's right in front of you and if that's not enough, you go to the computer. Then grab the first person you think you can get by with something with.

Yes, I am Christian and I don't watch these shows or use the internet for such purpose but I know it's there. I believe a fetus is a life and marriage should be between a man and a woman. I just pray that some day things will be better. I also pray for these children that are being abused.

I just read about the other guy in Fayetteville that is being extradited to Fla. is just under a 250k bond. I doubt he will be incarcerated very long. He will be out ruining another child's life. Wilderness prisons are what we need.

Trust me I know that Australia was founded on a similar concept....but I am talking about in the middle of the ocean not connected to another Continent.

I do not quite know how to break this to you but Australia is known as, "The Island Continent" because it is an island and is not connected to any other continent.

Well said. Organization such as the Boy Scouts, long held in such high esteem, are now being shown to be harbors for pedophiles. The coverups that have been revealed are sickening, and there sheer number of young victims that they failed are devastating.

Pedophiles don't need a second chance, and neither do the people who choose to protect them instead of the child.

    So very true....

I think you have hit the nail right on the head here....only WHEN AND IF laws are changed will it get better for a lot of people....hold those people responsible and accountable for *WHAT THEY HIDE and know to be true*....STOP PROTECTING these *worthless and hopeless abusers*....

****Oh hey, this guy has apparently demonstrated that rehabilitation doesn't work. He needs to go away for good this time. The time line still bugs me.

These people are *SICK*....and there are so many of them who have not been caught....it is sad when they prey on family members are are never caught....it happens though and it happens a lot....people would be quite SHOCKED that they are in all *WALKS OF LIFE*....what is sadder is when other family members are RUINED FOR LIFE....and these family members try to get some sort of *CLOSURE for their abuse* and blame other people for what they have been through....there are law enforcement and social workers who actually *HIDE* from this sort of abuse....not exactly the kind of person one would think could or would *hide such abuse*...

In my opinion pedophiles are worthless and hopeless. They have one of the highest recidivism rates, they have very little success with rehabilitation and even when chemically castrated they still find ways to violate children. I would agree that this is some sort of mental illness, but no less than alcoholism or drug addiction (not saying the are to be compared) and we certainly put alcoholics and drug addicts in prison. My personal wish is to have a place for violent criminals, be they rapist, serial & 1st degree murderers, or pedophiles and never again release them into society. Like on an island in the middle of the ocean with work camps and allow them to live in a society of their own without freedoms they gave up the moment they took a life or a soul of a child far too young to understand what these violators were doing to them. Yeah, I know...in a dream world. Pedophiles kill souls and often create other pedophiles in doing so.

    Rebelyell55"

The mentally ill belong in hospitals, under treatment, not in prisons.

  • Glass Half Full Dec 5, 10:56 a.m.

I don't care where you lock up these offenders, just lock them up and let them be. When are we going to learn that these people cannot be rehabilitated? How many children's lives must be ruined before action is taken? As a society we should be ashamed of ourselves for letting this kind of behavior continue. We need laws and courts who will be firm in their dedication to lock these people away forever.

Well if, as you say, it is a mental condition then Mister Ferrer needs therapy, not prison. We do not incarcerate the mentally ill.
    piene2

Some mental illnesses are like cancer. Uncurable. They are treatable but will never be cured! However in this case he needs to spend the rest of his life in prison!

I think the bigger question is why we don't make a giant example of people like this. Even if they are metally ill or we don't have room in prison for them they could still be confined to one place via house arrest or something of the like so that if they strayed away and posed danger to someone else authorities could respond. But we're leaning way too far left right now to ever cage a sick person who obviously had something beyond his control make him who he is today and deny him his rights as a human so we can keep him from hurting someone else. Taht would be inhumane. (sarcasm)

Why does it take so long to surface? I don't like it. I'm not taking up for this guy, but wrong is wrong the minute it happens and should be reported, within months, why years?
    Bartmeister

There could be dozens of reasons. He could have threatened her life, her family members' lives. The kid could have been young enough to actually be convinced the activity was normal. They could know it was wrong but be embarrased, ashamed, scared.....
