LOL..no thanks...I leave the paranoia to folks like you. Scary, huh????
    FourAutumn

How is it paranoia when its readily available on-line. Why are you so afraid to go look? It will be a hard truth for you to swallow that all those people you feel so sorry for are taking advantage of you. If people needs assistance I have no problem them getting the help they need. But a lot of people have turned a life line into a lifestyle and you dont see anything wrong with them being lazy deadbeats. A lot of us are tired of taking care of people that refuse take care of themselves.

  • Crumps Br0ther Nov 30, 2012

is all about money. They are "convinced" that folks are getting wealthy living off the system.....they have stories about housing projects and TV's or Cars. Or some video's on Youtube.

    Just silly.
    FourAutumn

Are you really that naive to think that people arent gaming the system? My cousin worked in remodeling section 8 housing and told me about the big screen TVs and expensive tennis shoes, car rims etc...these folks who needed assistance had. And they would sit on their porches and make fun of my cousin for working. I dont know why you wont look on youtube for the Obamaphone lady, are you afraid to see that the people you defend are really deadbeats and leeches? You are in a deep denial. Liberals do not help people, you enable them.

    Sad.

his ego will not allow him to see 50% of the people don't want him, think he has done a poor job, padding his own seat with the like of Pelosi.

Is he doing the will of the people of NC, what is he known for doing for the people - I think Nothing

  • workinghuman33 Nov 29, 2012

I agree with you FourAutumn. I just find it completely ironic that the wealthiest of men at the time our country was founded had empathy and care for their fellow man, fellow future citizens....which seems to be lost on the other 47%. I find THAT 47% to be poetic justice. I had said before the numbers were all in that if only 47% of Americans voted for Romney that that would confirm "There is a God" to many. Yes, their behavior is silly and very selfish. I don't understand it. As I have said before I have plenty of money but there's no way I am going to turn my back on my fellow man and call them names and belittle them. I find that to be deplorable and not at all in line with the American Dream.

  • FourAutumn Nov 29, 2012

"That said, it's so amazing to me when Cons keep spouting the rhetoric about takers & entitlements. It's very interesting to me and sadly telling that it's only about money to them...my how times have changed."

  • workinghuman33 Nov 29, 2012

I personally have plenty of money. I doubt I'll ever have to worry about that. That said, it's so amazing to me when Cons keep spouting the rhetoric about takers & entitlements. It's very interesting to me and sadly telling that it's only about money to them...my how times have changed. Our founding fathers were some to the wealthiest of their time. Together they wrote our Constitution, they were obviously concerned about our citizens that were not as fortunate as them financially. They gave us freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of press, the right to assemble & petition our government, the right to bear arms, due process..the list goes on. This does not sound to me like the most financially powerful men of that time ever wanted serfdom. They wanted to unite us, not separate us by class or by wealth. All men were created equal. So please if you are whining about entitlements try to remember that our fore fathers set up our system to care for all of our citizens.

E.g., say I make $1.6M / year. If I have to pay an extra $150K next year, I will. hpr641.

Sorry, hpr, but your math is way off. You'd be looking at more like 60 to 65 K increase. You want to cut your own grass, go ahead. No one has ever said that this will not have some impact on the economy, but wealthy people paying landscapers minimum wage does not do much to boost the economy. A strong middle class with some disposable income is the main driver of "successful" economies worldwide. Why do you think China is booming now? They finally have a reasonable size middle class to buy the things they manufacture. I do understand that you may have to cancel your Christmas ski trip to Switzerland next year if the cuts on the wealthy expire, but that just proves that being rich does not solve all of a persons problems.

It seems that there is a better chance of winning the Powerball jackpot than having a Republican ever winning an election vote recount.

It seems the Dems have found a way to even brake "The Law of Averages" too.

  • workinghuman33 Nov 28, 2012

What kind of cheese is it you folks want with your WHINE? People voted, it's called an election....voting...it's sorta how that works.

As far as the recount, I don't blame the man at all...655 votes is a tight race. Please just quit with all of this ugliness, all of this name calling, all of the stereo-typing and all of the whining. We have parties in our government, all of which are supposed to work together...it's not my side or your side it's US, WE, OURS. All this fighting and contention gets us nowhere. Together we stand, divided we fall and must surely will fail. Please be adults....can you do that? For the love of this great country of OURS let's try to get past this and work together.

"Good. Thats at least one seat the GOP failed to gerrymander and buy."

Actually, the DEMS are buying every seat they occupy including the President's chair. So long as people believe the Dems are taxing the rich on their behalf, they will vote accordingly. I will be amusing to watch this stuff hit people's wallets. They will dumbly complain about the prices of stuff and blame the companies, when the rise in costs go right back to the Democrats. There is nothing that is free.

  • whatelseisnew Nov 28, 2012

"As for cost - it is the cost of democracy that close races be looked at again. To unilaterally declare a winner without revisiting the ballots cast in a close race would smell of bias. Free and fair elections are expensive, but essential to democracy."

We do not have a Democracy, although the concept of a Democratic Republic is slowly being erased. We are moving to mob rule. I wish they would drop all the programs and just hand out money at the voting place. At least that way I could actually get something for my vote. As it is now, I just help pay for all the handouts that other people get. The growing mob.

Thanks to gerrymandering, the GOP got 70% of the state legislature seats despite getting roughly 50% of the vote.

    http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/11/republicans-gerrymandering-house-representatives-election-chart

The people of NC are NOT the representation they voted for.

  • FourAutumn Nov 28, 2012

"I am sure over the last 100 years the democrats made sure all districts were drawn fairly and evenly"

When the total number of votes for all D Congressional candidates is greater than the total number of votes for all R Congressional Candidates, but the split of R vs. D Congressmen is 10-4, that would appear to indicate a significant unfairness in Representation.

  • SaveEnergyMan Nov 28, 2012

It's good that the recount only netted an 8 vote difference - meaning the process is accurate. As far as time, the recount took two days (11/26-27), as by law. The time between the election and the recount is for mailed ballots to arrive, an official canvass to be certified, and time for legal challenges to be filed.

As for cost - it is the cost of democracy that close races be looked at again. To unilaterally declare a winner without revisiting the ballots cast in a close race would smell of bias. Free and fair elections are expensive, but essential to democracy.
