The NAACP is one if not the biggest raceist organizations around it says that it works for everyone but it does not, never have seen them say anything about other races othe than blacks, this group should be investigated by the FBI/SBI.

  • Crumps Br0ther Nov 28, 12:30 p.m.

@driverkid3 asked, "What has barber done exactly?" Lately, he has fought to ensure that all public school children are treated equally regardless of skin color and that prosecuters who inappropriately (illegally?) create racial-biases are investigated. That sounds pretty honorable to me.
    allinfantsareatheists

Bussing kids all over creation in the name of "diversity" is bad for the planet because of the carbon footprints left by the busses. why do you hate the planet?

  • JustOneGodLessThanU Nov 28, 11:06 a.m.

@driverkid3, each non-profit group does what it can for causes they feel are the most important. Ex. Why do churches spend $2 million on a pipe organ & fancy cars & real-estate holdings, instead of working to stop the 30,000+ children from dying of starvation every day?

Someone needs to ban the NAACP. They are a bunch of racist pigs. This is why we can't move past racism. All Barber wants is publicity and no one is paying much attention to him.

  • storchheim Nov 28, 10:53 a.m.

    "" . . . you can't pretend racism didn't exist and doesn't exist; because it does."

And if you're a "diversity", you're not called on it.

  • Rebelyell55 Nov 28, 10:50 a.m.

That must be some stick he using. He's stirred that thing for a long time and it ain't broke yet but it's getting weak. Have no respect for a racist preaching about others being racist.

  • storchheim Nov 28, 10:43 a.m.

issy, when I hear about Jewish gangs gunning down old men who deliver Chinese food, or breaking into the class president's room, forcing her to withdraw money, driving her around for hours before MURDERING her as she begs them to pray with her, raping and murdering their "fiance's" babies, and best of all living off the taxpayers, I'll consider them to be every bit as low and worthless of breath as I do black and latino gangs.

  • godshelper Nov 28, 10:27 a.m.

I am sure they were not innocent of this. They probably didnt get a fair trial but i am sure they had a hand in what they were charged with.

  • driverkid3 Nov 28, 9:53 a.m.

geosol::::When you read the comments posted here by the right wingers, it's obvious that we still need organizations like the NAACP to stand up for the rights of the poor and minorities.

I am a republican, what you and your ilk call a "right winger". I have been fighting for equal treatment since the early 50's when I found out my best friend couldn't go to school with me because she was Black. I have heard far more libs refer to Black people by that despicable N word, I've heard libs degrade them and eexpress hatred in so many ways, it's pathetic. And YOU with that snollygoster attitude want to come prancing in and blame all this on the rightwingers. I'd laugh at you if you weren't so pathetic.

  • driverkid3 Nov 28, 8:41 a.m.

piene2, if you are indeed a member of the NAACP, and you "love" what barber is doing, please......tell me what specifically he has done to stop the black on black frime here in Goldsboro, or anywhere else for that matter. What has he done to actually HELP anyone? Can you answer that question, or will you dance away from it? I am white and firmly beleive in equal treatment for everyone and live it every day AND have done so for most of my 64 years. I fought this garbage when I was too young to know what racism was about and have been doing so since. So YOU tell me. What has barber done exactly?

  • BubbaDukeforPresident Nov 28, 8:28 a.m.

The world will be a better place when people like Barber and Jackson and Sharpton are dead and gone.

Regardless of how the men were identified and convicted, they did the crime and should not be released on a technicality. To imply that the prosecutor, the judge, and every member of the jury was racist and ignored the oaths they swore to is far less believable than it is for race-baiters and profiteers to create lies and confusion in order to progress their own personal agendas.

  • What if_I could Nov 27, 7:54 p.m.

This is not about racism or about justice being served. As I read the articles and watch the TV news, I see one thing happening. A POLITICAL AGENDA!!!!! Ask yourself, why is this pardon coming up now. Days before the Governor will be leaving office. This could be brought up anything. Why just a few days before the Governor leaves office. This is stirring the pot. This is Rev. Barber's attempt to get publicity.

"And I suppose you have NEVER seen NOR heard a Jewish person say 'Never Forget'. By the way, Israel receives reparations and payments from Germany and the US of nearly 90 billion dollars a year."

What I've never seen is a Jewish gangbanger. I've seen Jews with pride and dignity who form loving families and safe, prosperous communities. They live their pride instead of talking it.
    storchheim

I normally don't respond to you because you say dumb stuff like this all the time.

Just because you don't see it, means it doesn't exist huh?
I suppose you've never heard of Kosher-Nostra or more recently the Israeli mafia. They are responsible for much of the estacy trafficking in America. Now this doesn't absolve black Americans of whatever crime some of us may commit, but no matter how you spin it; the majority of us are not criminals and other people are out committing crime as well.

Bugsy Sigel would be ashamed of your ignorance.

  • coombs1973 Nov 27, 6:56 p.m.

It was proven that some witnesses lied and that the DA made the same type of notes that every attorney has a way of keeping up with getting a favorable jury. Hence, the millions spent every year on jury consultants .... to get the best jury for your side. Pretty women want male jurors, races like their own race, few want religious people. As usual Barber is so buzy getting publicity that he does more harm than good in race relations.
Sadly in the early 1970s,the DA's comments would not have seemed as outrageous as they are. The question here is guilt in my opinion, not a bigoted DA or a witness that lied .... I thought some had admitted their guilt ... it has been a long time since it was in the news BUT I would have thought the Innonence Committee would have been all over this if they thought they had a case. They certainly seem to be trying to free every other criminal whether they confessed or not.

Contrary to popular belief. . . we have moved on. In spite of having plenty of reasons to be angry. As beaulahjackson stated earlier, you can't pretend racism didn't exist and doesn't exist; because it does.

  • f6rider Nov 27, 6:29 p.m.

All this info on various people of color. I would make the following points...

    1) The black man was sold into slavery by their own people.
    2) The were given their freedom after the Civil War.
    3) Where would they be today had they not been brought on ships
    to America?
    4) Are they not better off today in Amaerica Vs Africa?

I rest my case case, let's move on people....

  • Tax Man Nov 27, 6:25 p.m.

If the evidence shows overwhelmingly that these men we absolutely innocent then they should be pardoned. If they were released due to prosecutorial conduct but are factually guilty they should not be pardoned as they have received their remedy. Any prosecutor who lies, cheats, fabricates or withholds evidence to get a conviction should serve life without parole. Any prosecutorial witness who perjures themselves in order to get a conviction should serve life without parole. It is intolerable for the prosecution to cheat just to get a conviction. The remedy should be for the prosecutor and those who cheated to go to prison for life, but those who actually committed the crimes should not be released just because the prosecution cheated. The remedy is to lock up the prosecutor!

"newly discovered notes by the prosecutor " NEWLY discovered.. relevant."Careers are gone, educational opportunities gone, employment destroyed (and) families demolished as a result of the consequences." A pardon would be to firmly and legally give them back their good name if nothing else or allow them to receive what was taken from them. Other than your hatred for Rev. Barber what is it you naysayers are missing in this article?

Someone mention Southern racism....well is it not true that the SOUTH owned most of the slaves in our country? Did Southerns NOT keep Jim Crow laws in place until the mid 70's? I believe the poster is correct in that the racism in the South is far different based on our history...specifically here. Lynchings ring a bell to you? You cannot erase nor deny history because it makes you feel uncomfortable. You should base your judgment of people on their own personal actions and not as a group be it race, religion, or other beliefs.

  • issymayake Nov 27, 6:15 p.m.

    Crumps Br0ther

Yeah I've been on GOLO for quite a while. But seriously, okay. . so she believes some things. Doesn't mean the rest of us do. Like I said earlier, nobody is judged as an individual.

Everything is assumed to be a money grab; or rabble rousing, or stirring the pot or playing the race card. All catchphrases used to belittle the concerns of the victim/affected person.

Well in the case of the Wilmington 10, they DID have their rights violated. And the violations were so egregious that the Soviets pretty much called Jimmy Carter and Americans hypocrites for commenting on their treatment of political prisoners.

So I don't see why there are so many complaints. The legal system was wrong, Governor Perdue has the opportunity to set it right. All of the angry statements, whining, and comments admonishing the NAACP are way off-base.

  • issymayake Nov 27, 6:02 p.m.

how come we don't hear from the Japanese, the Irish, Jewish people and on and on about all the atrocities their ancestors incurred? Could it be because they are too busy pulling themselves up to take the time to whine about their history? duh
    rachel

well for one, the interned Japanese were already given reparations. Their reparations movement was inspired in the early-1970s by the Civil Rights movement for blacks.

And I suppose you have NEVER seen NOR heard a Jewish person say 'Never Forget'. By the way, Israel receives reparations and payments from Germany and the US of nearly 90 billion dollars a year.

lol . . .and people complain about Affirmative Action. We should have just sued everybody 30 years ago.

  • Crumps Br0ther Nov 27, 5:48 p.m.

Few of the blacks who post on GOLO ever whine about anything. One would think that would be enough to get folks to question their preconceived perception of blacks.

I take it you werent on here about 5 years ago. There was one woman that took everything as racist. And this was long before for all the "code words" for black that came out during the election, like "angry" or "Chicago." She was just like Chris Matthews. She believed every post was written in code and racist. If you're looking for it, you're gonna find it

That's a good point actually. The Holocaust and Japanese internment are far more recent events in history than slavery.
    rossfranco

That is a great point! Im sure you will get called racist for bringing it up though, since there is no good answer for your question. In fact just your wording would probably offended someone. The mere fact that you bring it up in that fashion can probably be seen as racist as well.

Bingo....but the whinny side (we all know which one that is) will say your post is racist!

  • miketroll3572 Nov 27, 5:22 p.m.

If this was the first time Touré played the race card, he might look less silly. But he doesn’t have a race card, he has filled the deck with them – just not a full deck. Everything is about race to him – re-electing Obama, anything involving the GOP or white people in general. Even he admits it. “Part of my job when I speak about politics is to speak up for black people and say things black people need said,”

And this is from msnbc's news anchor. Big time racist for sure.

ok--some 30 years after these men were released and their convictions overturned--now the NAACP is crying "racial profiling" etc.?? Are they saying that the completely legal process of challenges for cause and peremptory challenges is racist? If that is the case, then the entire judicial system is "racist". But, then again, when its one or more of the Bro's being arrested and tried--regardless of outcome of the trial--its "racist". Once again the NAACP is struggling mightily to remain relevant in today's society--and they are failing.

The NAACP is one of the most racist organizations operating today. "Reverend" Barber is a joke with an agenda. Just like a lot of these self-important MLK Jr. wannabes, he thinks society hangs on his every word, and that just because he utters some pronouncment, that his statements should magically become law. It's so silly.

It is the TRUTH...and yes..IT DOES HURT..
