    The first day?

  • starvingdog Nov 23, 1:43 p.m.

I am truly blessed. I am keeping my 5 grandsons so their mom can work today...and that means I don't have to go anywhere near any Black Friday so-called 'sales.' If ever there was a true sign that the apocalypse is upon us, it is the behavior of many today who will trample their neighbor to get a 'deal' on some product which will be obsolete by New Year's. Ought to call today "Greed and Avarice Day" and be done with it.

  • what the........ Nov 23, 12:40 p.m.

Looks like most of you who posted still have values and morals. I'm proud of you. There aren't many left who do have values like this. If anyone out there has any age to them at all, you know that the retailers get more desparate for your business the closer we get to Christmas so there are going to be plenty of more sales before Christms. Don't be in such a panic. Like Black Friday is the only sale day until next year's black Friday.

"Maybe now they know how our military heroes feel when they are away from home during ALL holidays. Oh ye, they are also defending our freedom."
Do you really believe that? What are they defending us from? Did anybody ask them to join? You fell for the lies, don't try to make the rest of us feel guilty about their choices.

  • timetochange Nov 23, 12:22 p.m.

smdrn, amen.My wife is a nurse and she worked 12 hour shifts on Christmas the first 4 years we were married. It's called sacrifice, if you can't do it than keep quiet.

Black Friday sent shoppers to the malls or did you folks think about keeping those local businesses in your area thriving - Did anyone remember to shop at your local stores instead of feeding those foreign countries owned shops at the malls

All this hype for what? The whole notion of "Black Friday" is a bunch of hype. The day after Thanksgiving was always a big shopping day. Why? Because a lot of people were off. Retail insiders privately called it that because it helped put them in the black. Now they and the media have tried to make it like it is an event or something. Pure hogwash. Yeah a few good bait and switch deals are out there. I say boycott it. Stay home and spend time with your family instead.

    kidsrn:

I personnaly an in 1000& agreement with your posting on here. the holidays have become all about business antheir porfits an their bottom line an personaly am sick of it . we are planing to personnaly spend very little this year as that i have no job an no procpects of obtain one you can spend what you dont have or at the least people should do so in my own personnal opinion for it is stupid an crazy to do so an then to have to struggle the whole of the following years to try an pay for foolish spending for last years christmas so every one just stay home an quite spndeing what you don have to spend an then you wil se buisines be forced to lower thrie price to get people int to their stores. as for grocerys $50.00 is just to much to have to pay for a whole country ham so people just stop all of the crazy spending an stay home an off the roads for the holidays an the price for gasoline will also fall when peple thank you stay off the roads

  • Pepe Silvia Nov 23, 10:24 a.m.

I refuse to spend a dime on Thanksgiving or Christmas. Holidays are about spending time with family and friends, NOT being forced to work for minimum wage while people shove each other for cheap junk they don't really need.

No shopping. No movies. No bars. No restaurants.

Shame on all the stores that were open yesterday to make a buck - especially the ones that were open all day!

  • Zorg Nov 23, 10:14 a.m.

Funny that people will trample over each other to buy useless junk the day after they give thanks for the things they already have.

  • westernwake1 Nov 23, 10:11 a.m.

My wife and daughters are out saving me hundreds...

  • radium Nov 23, 10:09 a.m.

I got the BEST deal of all Black Friday!!! I saved 100%!! That's right 100% Want to know how? I boycotted Black Friday AGAIN for the fourth year in a row! I estimate I've saved about $8000. by not buying into this disgusting display of mindless consumerism. That's eight grand that stayed in my family instead of the pockets of rich wall street and corporate criminals. Thanks for the laughs black Friday shoppers.

"This is so sad for me. Holidays are no longer about families, they are about what we can supposedly buy for cheaper. Nice America, we have sold our souls to the Corporations." robbincasino

Totally agree with this. How sad that we value our electronics more than time with families and friends AND more than the time of the poor workers who have to drag themselves into work on a NATIONAL holiday just so people can buy all their carp for cheaper. Really?

  • jgilchr Nov 23, 9:45 a.m.

Keep shopping, Keep consuming...Everything is fine.

SOME people try to turn ANY article into a political soapbox......don't you think it's time to hang it up and move on?

  • Hill55 Nov 23, 8:49 a.m.

If this is how people act for a discounted TV, just wait until we have food shortages.

"Soon we will have to celebrate Thanksgiving on a quarterly basis. I don't SHOP. If I need something, I check out prices online, then I go to a specific place and get the item. I will not be anywhere near a retailer prior to Monday.
    whatelseisnew"

Those people are not right. No one in their right mind gets involved in such nonsense. Not only are the prices just as good online but almost all the better stores offer free shipping on orders of fifty dollars or more. Not only that but a lot of stores have merchandise online that they do not stock in the stores. For example Walmart offers repacked electronics. They are exactly the same in operation and appearance as new but far less likely to have problems than new out of the box electronics.

  • worldclasscoach Nov 23, 8:28 a.m.

Unless you have a wife that sleeps really late, then you are forced to just shop online...(sad face)

  • Banned4Life Nov 23, 8:19 a.m.

    No it's not.

  • cheddarhead Nov 23, 8:17 a.m.

those waiting inline for days for the PS3 and XBOX 360 deals--I got it online for the same price. I know it is about the fun and excitement but..... time away from family like that-no way!

  • xxxxxxxxxxxxx Nov 23, 8:13 a.m.

They eat a nice holiday meal with their families and then head out for some family shopping. Too bad they couldn't care less that the employees of those stores were denied a nice holiday with THEIR families.
