She is reponsible for the loss of 3 to 12 million and they allowed her to travel outside the US? I dont think she is going to be returning so she can go to prison.

  • cmmsbft Nov 21, 6:54 p.m.

another scumbag sent to prisonn...Just like Meg Scott Phillips, etc.

  • atheistswillrule Nov 21, 6:49 p.m.

This is just one of the many Democrats involved in stealing money from North Carolina Residents. Some of them are still at large and just have not be caught yet. bjraper

NOT! The lady in question is a REPUBLICAN. I think she is the personification of everything the failing party stands for. Greed over friendships, Greed over humanity, Greed over honesty.

  • Scubagirl Nov 21, 6:07 p.m.

she has been both a Dem AND a Repub. Most recently republican, sooooo she was a REPUBLICAN when she did this. Reading is fundamental.

Also, facing 11-20 years in prison and they are THINKING of letting her take a business trip to Haiti????? She may be the nicest woman ever, but I'm just not so sure I'd let someone who just pled guilty to a federal crime LEAVE THE COUNTRY!!!!!!!!! What part of this, and on what planet does this make any sense whatsoever? Would this be even considered for anyone else?

She must be a democrat to get off as easy as she got off. ConservativeVoter

Sorry, if you check the record, she is a true blue Republican. NO SURPRISE!

This is just one of the many Democrats involved in stealing money from North Carolina Residents. Some of them are still at large and just have not be caught yet. The past several years has show this to be true. Just recall the number of Democrats that have served time in prison, not to mention a few that managed to pay their way out of their misdeeds.

  • ConservativeVoter Nov 21, 5:10 p.m.

She must be a democrat to get off as easy as she got off.

  • dollibug Nov 21, 5:02 p.m.

I am glad that she admitted her guilt instead of trying to lie her way out of it.....I guess when you *steal enough money*....it is hard to cover it up though....

  • charmcclainlovesdogs2 Nov 21, 4:49 p.m.

She had no choice but to plead GUILTY. Now she should find hersef in prison for about 5 years. Enough to mess up her name and be hard to get a job once she is out.

  • dabink Nov 21, 4:42 p.m.

"now she's stepping forward and taking responsibility" and "she will accept her punishment". Isn't she wonderful and such a hero and role model? She's so courageous and such a fine human being. Soon she'll make the rounds on TV getting accolades and big bucks for speaking engagements. You can see it coming. Aren't we so wonderfully politically correct and tolerant now?

  • superman Nov 21, 3:57 p.m.

Her lawyer should explain what and how her plans are to repay 3 to 7 million dollars. Maybe a political job at UNC or NC State?

  • ripetomatoes Nov 21, 3:49 p.m.

Real estate agent and lawyer in the same article.
Respect, honesty and integrity hard to find in either profession.
Now she joins the large group of politicians from NC who have moved on to become a convicted criminal.
Did she lose her real estate license or can we expect her to be stealing again in 36-42 months?
The justice system should take away everything she has accumulated in her life and redistribute the wealth to those less fortunate.

  • ReallyBigYawn Nov 21, 3:18 p.m.

"Webb said Grant has admitted that some of the money from investors has been misspent"

Attny makes it sound like a little mistake. It's no so much the misspent as the illegally obtained part.

    Stick it to em!

  • cinnamon16 Nov 21, 2:56 p.m.

If she is crooked she should have won any political that she aspired to hold. Just saying

  • Wags Nov 21, 2:52 p.m.

What's the old saying? "A fool and their money are soon parted."
