cuz the state hiring system is totally corrupt- this blog comes from a 30 yr retiree who used to be in senior management.

that's why. look this state needs reform from top to bottom, it needs shaking up an a new for a new day. you wana go bact to the tyranny of perdue style state gov ment?

wake up folks-- north carolina has been in free fall for yrs.........

Why has McCrory got a web page for people to send him resumes for state jobs? Why isn't he going through the state personnel system? Sounds like major cronyism and payback to his donors to me. WRAL and other news agencies should jump on this! Want a stste job? Go to Pat's website and skip the state system!!!

"At least they are trying something."

Go ahead and try something but don't lie about themethod and results in order to score political points or because of ideology. Students deserve better.

"I'm not sure what your idea is to close the (gap) At least they are trying something."

Trying something to do what? Make students with little parental support start caring about school? The best thing lawmakers could do is to leave education to the educators rather than try meaningless programs to try and make it appear as if they are "reforming" education. NAEP tests show that scores have risen nationally over the years. A better solution would be to look at states with genuinely good scores that are consistent across the grade levels, like Massachusetts, or New Jersey, or Pennsylvania. But they won't do that as those states attract top quality teachers by paying them more.

I'm not sure what your idea is to close the (gap) At least they are trying something.

I personaly hate that the states taxpaying citizens will be stuck witth tab for all of these governor elect ingruall ball dances an drinking . i am wondering if he will put a stop to the out right fraud an mis-managment of the state taxpayers dollars that are currently ongoing within the NCDOT AN their contractors with repect to highway construction contracts an the soory qulaity of materials that are being allowed by the materails an test unit to be wrongfull utlized in the construction of the crumbling highway structures here in what use to be the good road state but is no longer thank you

Florida's test scores drop dramatically by 10th grade.:

Perdue was a joke....McCrory..Show us what you know!!!

on that day north carolina begins to come out of the darkness...

"try again....(Why are other states adopting Florida’s education reforms? Because they work!)"

States that don't want to spend more and don't want to do what more successful states do try the cheap way, Florida's way. Just fail a huge amount of 3rd graders to try and get better scores the next year. What a load of garbage.
