  • crustyhalo Nov 20, 2012 are incorrect. Statue says " while driving under an impaired SUBSTANCE '. sleep deprivation does not fall in this category. This truck driver made a bad decision to drive while being impaired and his actions have resulted in a man being critically injured. I would bet money that most truck drivers are safe when on the road, this one driver chose not to be. Prayers to all involved.

Also, the man probably wouldn't even drunk. By impaired they might have meant sleep deprivation. MEaning that he had not enough of sleep. But imagine if y'alls husband/wife/girlfriend,etc. was in this position and nosey people was putting rude accusations (about stuff that probably ain't even true)
Your in my prayers Mr.Curtis and Mr.Kornegay

  • Sozanski2 Nov 20, 2012

First of all y'all have no right to judge this man. They probably have worked him to death. The driver was probably hurt too. I hope they BOH get better. REAL SOON! You all saying bad things, shouldn't say this becauseyou ain't got no right to, and plus you probably don't even know the whole story. Just be glad your not in there postion. And thank god that you all are still alive to this day and hope you have no problems to you in the future. I send my prayers to Mr. Curtis and Mr.Kornegay

I too have more than 2 million miles, accident and ticket free. It is unfortunate that this one guy will bring the general opinion of truck drivers, down another notch.

  • common tater Nov 19, 2012

I drove across the state on I40 and 64 today. Don't know why but it seems like there were mowers every few miles. Saw a near-accident when a mower got close to the car lane and the car swerved into the other lane.

I am a truck driver so don't label all of us the same because of a dumb truck driver. I am an owner operator and have 2 million safe and accident free miles.and as far as chasing big money that went out the door years ago. I made more money in the early 90's than I do now

  • warbirdlover Nov 19, 2012

For every one impaired Tractor-Trailer driver, there are 25,000 safe drivers. I have over 1 million safe miles. I mainly drove Lowboys with Heavy Equipment. (They were my Dads Trucks and was too scared to scratch them, for fear of the WRATH OF JACK!!!!!) Hope for a speedy recovery.

In the state of NC Driving While Impaired is drinking and driving which your license will be taken on the spot especially cdl license. He still has his license because he was not drinking and was only charged with reckless driving. Read for yourself....,000014,000935,000939

Get the facts he would be in jail if he was drinking and driving a 18 wheeler and not at home with a broke arm. My prayers go out to the Henry Junior Kornegay family. My God heal you from your injuries and comfort your family in this time. Brother of truck driver....

  • pappybigtuna1 Nov 19, 2012

it is the promise of big money, been having far too many issues with these characters. don't think they have a clue about a 60 foot trailer behind them

Hope this guy gets the stiffest penalty available

  • IzzMad2016 Nov 19, 2012

I wonder if the "impaired" in this instance means sleep deprivation. Not that it matters. Regardless of what the impairment was there is still a critically injured person -- prayers for his recovery.

  • Big D 87 Nov 19, 2012

Impaired could mean he blew just enough to register on breathalizer.Still no excuss for driving. And how do you not see a mower . Prayers go out to Kornegay family

  • Silver bullet1 Nov 19, 2012

I think they should install alco-sensors with timer locks on the Tractor-trailers, jet planes, Trains, Greyhound/all passenger buses, even ferry boats. But to top them all, ban SHP/Law enforcement officers from texting/typing on the MDT terminals in patrol cars while driving. The law is the law.

  • Fireflies Rock Nov 19, 2012

wow, driving a tractor trailer impaired?? and in the morning?? This guy had no right being behind the wheel; what is wrong with people? I hope Mr. Kornegay will survive his critical injuries.

  • JDAmbrosio Nov 19, 2012

Absolutely senseless that this impaired driver was even on the roads and now has so severely injured this guy. I pray he'll be okay and that the 35yr old gets the punishment he deserves.

  • charmcclainlovesdogs2 Nov 19, 2012

    should start installing breathalyzers...

Not necessary. The cops will handle that.

  • piratepeople2 Nov 19, 2012

why do people feel entitled to drink and get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle??

  • Greyhound_Girl Nov 19, 2012

I wonder if trucking companies should start installing breathalyzers...

  • Scubagirl Nov 19, 2012

how sad for the mower driver, hope he recovers fully and quickly

  • charmcclainlovesdogs2 Nov 19, 2012

has been charged with driving while impaired and reckless driving.

So glad he was charged. He should not be allowed to drive another truck because of his carelessness. My goodness he could have killed that man. I hope the man will be OK in time.
