"Fox News? REALLY? You beleive and trust that garbage? You can't take the time and energy to read other sources that are less partisan?"

EXACTLY!!!!!!! Cause we all know how fair and unbiased NBC, MSNBC, CNN, CBS, NPR,and ABC are, right? Take off the rose colored glasses.............

  • tdouble232323 Nov 20, 11:48 a.m.

The Union mafias (SEANC & SEIU)and their millions couldn't even win the meaningless Lt. Gov race. Haha! Life long government bereaucrats like Coleman riding off into the sunset is great news for this state.

"Fox News? REALLY? You beleive and trust that garbage? You can't take the time and energy to read other sources that are less partisan?"

    Funny how that works.

  • Sweetgrl3 Nov 20, 11:21 a.m.

McCrory owes NOTHING to the NAACP. NAACP is Racists up and down.

luvbailey::::You're pretty funny! Of course we don't need any mean old nasty lyin' cheatin' corporations! They might bring jobs! And then alot of people would have to get off un-employment and other forms of welfare! Who would want that mess????

There ya go. The truth laid out in simple black and white, but you know people are going to get riled up and deny it all over the place. I agree with you ten thousand times over.

Huffington Post? REALLY? You beleive and trust that garbage? You can't take the time and energy to read other sources that are less partisan?

  • Plenty Coups Nov 20, 9:36 a.m.

driverkid-"Is there anyone on here that can tell me what kids in the first and second grade are taught?"

Most kids are able to read by the end of first grade these days.

"From what I understand more and more money goes into the school system from the dems and it seems to do no good."

Actually, we are spending less than almost every other state. We still have about average scores when compared to other states but that will start to fall if the state continues to short change education. 1 in 8 teachers left last year despite there being a recession.

  • driverkid3 Nov 20, 9:32 a.m.

carlostheass::::Yes, and they're working and only checking this on their lunch breaks like you and me instead of being regulars on here all day long.

Wait just a second here! I am disabled, educated, and if I want to stay on here all day I can. In fact, I'll make a deal with you here and now. You think those that are on here all day have it made? I'll trade places with you. You take my excruciatingly painful feet, the arthritis, fibro, and other problems and I will work at your job GLADLY!

Your handle suits you to a T because that is EXACTLY what you are!

  • driverkid3 Nov 20, 9:23 a.m.

Is there anyone on here that can tell me what kids in the first and second grade are taught? I really want to know. From what I understand more and more money goes into the school system from the dems and it seems to do no good. I don't understand this at all.

"It has always been the GOP who have advocated equal rights"

    Yes, ALWAYS! (eye roll)

  • Crumps Br0ther Nov 20, 9:02 a.m.

Dalton didn't lose because nobody knew who he was. He lost because he's a crusty old white man (or at least he looks like one) and today's voters (especially unaffiliated voters) care more about appearance and speech giving ability than anything else.
    ycbs

I think him being a male version of Bev Perdue had a lot to do with it, she was an albatross around his neck. Dems had no hope fof winning this one, they just threw him up there because it was his turn.

  • Plenty Coups Nov 20, 9:00 a.m.

Crumps-"Seeing as the kids are getting dumber and most teachers are liberal, I think we can see where the problem is."

Aah yes, just throw out talking points with no basis in facts.

  • ycbs Nov 20, 8:47 a.m.

"Mr. Dalton wasn't enough of a household word to get elected governor." SaveEnergyMan

Dalton didn't lose because nobody knew who he was. He lost because he's a crusty old white man (or at least he looks like one) and today's voters (especially unaffiliated voters) care more about appearance and speech giving ability than anything else.

  • Crumps Br0ther Nov 20, 8:43 a.m.

When does the teacher accountability start???
    paultaylorsr100

Seeing as the kids are getting dumber and most teachers are liberal, I think we can see where the problem is.

  • Crumps Br0ther Nov 20, 8:40 a.m.

Y'all remember that "jobs, Jobs, JOBS" lie that the REPUBLICANS used to get elected to a veto-proof majority 2 years ago?
    geosol

I remember Barry making the same promise, but he gets a pass of course. I wish you libs held yourselves to the same standards you hold everyone else too

  • Plenty Coups Nov 20, 8:34 a.m.

"North Carolina has too many taxes, and I hope that this administration and legislature will be able to do something about the jobs that have been lost due to government greed."

Guess you must have missed all the government cutbacks for the last five years and the fact that we as a state spend less than almost every other state for education. Guess that's greed though, trying to make sure our young people are educated.

  • BubbaDukeforPresident Nov 20, 8:13 a.m.

North Carolina has too many taxes, and I hope that this administration and legislature will be able to do something about the jobs that have been lost due to government greed.

I also hope that when the NAACP comes to meet with Governor McCrory to remind him that the GOP has worked with them in the past that he will tell them that HE needs no reminder. It has always been the GOP who have advocated equal rights - it is the NAACP that has worked against unity and equality by siding with the party of slavery. McCrory owes the NAACP nothing. He should tell them to take a long walk off a short pier and let him do what he was elected to do without interference from whining racists and bitter socialists.

  • Plenty Coups Nov 19, 7:59 p.m.

    "YAWN!!!!!!!!!"

guess that's supposed to be an argument. NC is below avg. in overall taxes.

So happy to see that Linda Coleman did not win. I did not support her in any way after I saw the way she treated people in the position she held right before she resigned to run for Lt. Governor.

  • paultaylorsr100 Nov 19, 7:48 p.m.

Is President of the Senate a do-nothing office?

  • Plenty Coups Nov 19, 7:46 p.m.

"Ho does this make sense? Republicans have not been the majority of NC for years. It's the Dem's. Lay the blame where it should be for the reason NC is where it is at now."

It's both parties fault as we are a conservative state.(right to work) Every republican joined with some democrats to cut funding for education back in 2008. Since 2010, republicans voluntarily chose to cut taxes further when we had a surplus rather than repay the money cut from education.

  • Plenty Coups Nov 19, 7:44 p.m.

paultaylor-"When does the teacher accountability start???"

It started in the mid nineties with the ABC tests, followed by " no child left behind laws". Unfortunately, it didn't work as it soon led to excessive testing and a string of broken promises to "pay the good teachers more". Bonuses were discontinued years ago for over achieving schools.

  • Plenty Coups Nov 19, 7:41 p.m.

. . . . NC will very soon be LAST IN THE NATION in per-pupil spending."

paulotaylor-"This is the problem with you liberals. Spend, spend, spend. Throw money at everything. But first of all you have to keep stealing it from those of us who work!!!! Enough is enough"

What a joke. We're near the last in spending on education and you claim that we "spend, spend, spend" and "enough is enough." It seems the problem is people like you who want a top notch society and someone else to pay for it.

  • paultaylorsr100 Nov 19, 7:39 p.m.

Like you guy's said with the chicago socialist, he's not even in office and you won't give him a chance. Give McCory a chance.

  • paultaylorsr100 Nov 19, 7:37 p.m.

Hmmmm, Sweetgrl3. You should NEVER chastise nor lampoon a leberal on this site. Keep that in mind, even though Hunt did have his Rocky Mount Trade Zone debacle, Easley pilfering the Highway Trust Fund, and ol' Bev, well, just being good old VETO Bev and spending every penny she could find on progressive social . . . . . ism.

This will be FUN!!!! Looking forward to more REPUBLICAN broken promises - like reducing the gas tax - and instead focusing on their 15th century social agenda to try to push our once great state to the bottom of the country. Here's a prediction you can bank on - NC will very soon be LAST IN THE NATION in per-pupil spending. Way to go wingers!! Looking forward to seeing more high tech companies leave our once great state to escape from far right REPUBLICAN stupidity. Completely unchecked this time. Well, have fun kids and play safe. We'll be there to pick up the pieces and fix what's left after you're done playing with it.

Ho does this make sense? Republicans have not been the majority of NC for years. It's the Dem's. Lay the blame where it should be for the reason NC is where it is at now. Hunt , Easley, Perdue.... Majority problems started with Hunt and Easley really assisted in the disaster for NC. They are a disgrace to NC.

McCrory has got a mess on his hand thanks to the D

This is great news for the State of North Carolina!

  • Pirate01 Nov 19, 6:24 p.m.

Great news for NC by electing Republicans to run the state after over 100 years of democrat ruin.

  • Tax Man Nov 19, 6:17 p.m.

Thank God! This is a very good thing for NC.

  • WASP Nov 19, 5:29 p.m.

    Good. Linda Coleman is useless.

  • paultaylorsr100 Nov 19, 5:29 p.m.

"Doesn't matter what your facts are-we all deserve Walmart type jobs earning 8.00 an hour with no health benefits while they make record profits. They should just be happy that Walmart hires them at all. Americans don't need any type of worker protection and I propose we do what many factories in China do- force 8 or more workers into a dorm room as their housing and then charge them $6.50 an hour for that privelege. They'll still get to keepabout $2.50 an hour and they should be happy for it!"

WOW!!! Must be a depressing life one lives.

  • paultaylorsr100 Nov 19, 5:24 p.m.

" . . . yea but they'll still try to figure a way to blame the dems, watch & see."
Scubagirl you're better than this. Don't fall in that same trap as the cry babies. We know what obama is all about. At least give McCrory a chance. If he fails, then the blame gamewill start.

  • paultaylorsr100 Nov 19, 5:18 p.m.

". . . . he wants to build bipartisan support for legislation moving through the General Assembly."
I suggest you cut out that nonsense and get in there and do the job we sent you to do. We won - they lost!!! Do your job!!!

  • tiredofwaste Nov 19, 5:14 p.m.

Awesome!!! This is a great result for NC. The last thing we needed was Linda Coleman.

  • tgentry1005 Nov 19, 4:58 p.m.

Congratulations to Ms. Coleman for making a wise and reasonable decision. Now a sizable amount of money can be used to benefit the State rather than being spent on politics.

  • Plenty Coups Nov 19, 4:57 p.m.

"The Unions need to be abolished. I am proud of Hostess. Now the Walmart Strike.... I hope Walmart places signs on the door that says "Now Hiring". Let the ones on strike go. There are many others out there who need the jobs."

jgilchr-"Yes absolutely the 1% and the Plutocracy need to be strengthened! Let us keep increasing income disparity in the midst of the failed theory of trickle down economics."

  • stormtrooper76 Nov 19, 4:50 p.m.

    Congrats to Mr. Forest.

The Republican sweep will be complete when they all are sworn in.

With that said, the Republicans will shoulder all of the responsiblity in state government from a policy and law perspective. They will now be accountable for everything that happens in state government be it good or bad.

The ONLY mandate given to our elected officials is for good and reasonable government, not to serve themselves, special interests or their own purpose.

  • Relic Nov 19, 4:41 p.m.

I respect the lady for not turning the race into something
it never was expected to be. Her judgement was probably better than those around her>>>

  • justabumer Nov 19, 4:36 p.m.

What difference does it make who the Lt. Governor is? It's a do-nothing office anyway.

  • Mr. Middle of the Road Nov 19, 4:20 p.m.

Crumps Brother, you are right, I voted for McCrory. How did you know? And I note that while you were picky on my spelling, you could not refute my point. Good luck on your efforts to secede from the Union.

  • lovelarvae Nov 19, 4:04 p.m.

"Out of all the "swing-states", NC was the only one to show that the voters here think about issues and vote accordingly to their beliefs."

    How do you figure that?

  • artist Nov 19, 3:51 p.m.

What a great state NC is!!

Out of all the "swing-states", NC was the only one to show that the voters here think about issues and vote accordingly to their beliefs.

    Well done, NC. Well done.
