Hey Red, long time no post? Good to see you back here. Yes, your Pack is for real! They have the perfect blend of experience and new talent and play so well together. They do look to be the best in the ACC, and that's not easy for this Heels fan to say. This is a special year for State basketball.

  • StunGunn Nov 16, 2012

Buckets - that's the sign of a great team. If one or two players are having a bad night, foul trouble, etc., you have enough weapons to compensate for that and win the game.

  • Got Peart Nov 16, 2012

View quoted thread not speak again. The only other possible team in the State of NC, outside the ACC, that might be worthy is UNCA, but they're rebuilding this year.

Also - unc does have some big games - Indiana, and the Maui classic.

Wow - I'm actually defending unc....quick, check down it snowing?

Nice win for my Pack last night. We clearly didn't have our A game. Zo wasn't on, Wood was bottled up, and Howell was in early foul trouble again. And yet we STILL won by 15. IN previous years that was recipe for certain disaster.

Purvis and Warren are THE REAL DEALS! Since the Spain trip I have been thining that TJW could be the best freshmen of the 3 that STate got. Purvis seems to have honed in his stroke, and that could be huge - another deep threat will fre Wood up for more open looks.

State will be nasty this year! Even if the analyst that was on the broadcast last night doesn't quite think so.

Now, lets take care of a good UMass Team tonight!

  • heelsforever Nov 16, 2012

Really wish Warren had chosen the Heels.

    +1 from a Heels fan.

UNC has consistently played one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country and against many good teams on the road.

I'm a lifelong State fan and alum, but I have no idea where you're going with this one. Long Beach was a solid NCAA team last season and always plays a tough out of conference schedule and Mississippi State is a solid mid-tier SEC team. I can't stand UNC either, but at least pick things that are factually correct when calling them out. It isn't like those things are hard to find recently.

As for the game we are actually discussing, it was nice to see us coast to a comfortable win against a decent team even with some key players having an off night. This is going to be a very hard team to beat if they are able to put it all together on any given night. They won't be easy to beat even when they don't have it all together. Now they just have to remain focused throughout the rest of the season and this should be a lot of fun to watch.

  • BeastOnTheHill Nov 16, 2012

LOL, please name one in state school, non ACC, the you might consider "decent" that could match up with the Tar Heels to the point that you would not consider them a cupcake team.

    That's what I thought.

  • Barely Nov 16, 2012

At risk of feeding a troll, I assume you are a UNC fan. If so, let me list your team's schedule of cupcakes.
    Florida Atlantic
    Long Beach State
    Mississippi State
East Tennessee State East Carolina McNeese State And half of the ACC

Great scheduling. Just like Dean, Ol' Roy won't schedule games against a decent in-state school that is out of conference.

  • Turheel Nov 16, 2012

The Pack look strong! I expect them to make a deep run this season and wouldn't be surprised to see them playing on the first Monday night in April.

  • Toddler10-21 Nov 16, 2012

Win, and move on. I have been told all along that warren was the sleeper of this freshman class. HOWELL, HOWELL, HOWELL you have got to stay out of foul trouble.

  • dsalter Nov 16, 2012

I agree they need to tighten up a tad, but two differences in this year and last were evident last night. Warren and Purvis.

  • buckets112 Nov 16, 2012

state won by nearly 20 when brown was pretty much nonexistent (scoring wise anyway), wood goes scoreless in the first half, and howell was saddled with foul trouble once again. i just hope they tighten it up a little bit and not think they can coast through games once the lead gets to double digits. the margin could've easily been 30pts if they maintained the same intensity that they started the 2nd half with.

  • rherring23 Nov 16, 2012

Yeah I know. Too bad they didn't schedule mighty Long Beach St like Carolina did.

  • StunGunn Nov 15, 2012

Congrats to State. Shooting 50% from 3-point land is solid. Purvis is as good as advertised. State is for real. You guys have every right to be happy.

  • mxteam44 Nov 15, 2012

Didn't watch all the game, but State looked pretty good the part that I did see. Sure is good to see them ranked so high. Now if the guys would pay no attention to early season rankings, they should be ok. Glad to see the triangle teams ready to battle!!!!

    Go Heels!!!!

Hey, Hokie - your guys won tonight as well - Congrats.

  • VT1994Hokie Nov 15, 2012

It's obvious that most on here hate when NC State wins. It's all about my school. Give credit when it's due. Pretty good shooting for State. Wish VT could do this.

  • NCSU79 Nov 15, 2012

A real win over Big 10 competition. The Pack shot 50% from the field, 50% from 3, and 66.7% from the line.

Congrats...NC State won. Now please shut up.

  • VT1994Hokie Nov 15, 2012

^^^^I stated that State would win by 16-20 points. Close.

Don't worry about what WRAL says. They are in the business of reporting. They do a solid job too. Why bring up UNC. They didn't play tonight did they? Don't worry about it. When UNC wins they will write it up.

  • early exit Roy Nov 15, 2012

What a misleading byline. Overtakes means to catch up or to move fast enough to get even with. We lead about 98% of the game with a 25 pt lead at one time. If unc had beaten Penn St. by this margin the byline would have been unc rolls by Penn St. WRAL I think you can be a little more impartial.

  • Obamacare prevails Nov 15, 2012

Penn State is a football school. Basketball sucks anyhow.

  • shakennotstirred Nov 15, 2012

TJ is a beast. Watched him from front row last week and on TV tonight and he may beat out Purvis for rookie of the year.

You're right about the weather. I was there some years ago and the local station showed a rerun of an earlier (months earlier) weather forecast. Nobody noticed.

  • Tar Heels Victory-NCAA CHAMPIONS Nov 15, 2012

Penn State has absolutely no inside game. They do not shoot well enough to beat a good team like State.

  • Tar Heels Victory-NCAA CHAMPIONS Nov 15, 2012

Penn State had no chance in this game. They do not have nearly enough talent to keep up.

  • Obamacare prevails Nov 15, 2012

    Come on Penn State!

  • Got Peart Nov 15, 2012

Purvis and Warren are lighting it up! Purvis 2-2 from 3pt land in the early going.

    This just in....freshmen are GOOD!

  • DooksucksV3 Nov 15, 2012

    Another cupcake.

  • VT1994Hokie Nov 15, 2012

PSU can't hang with the talent of NC State. Firstly, PSU is a poor shooting team, and State will run and shoot against them. 20 point winners.

  • baldchip Nov 15, 2012

GO PACK-Let's do this one game at a time!! We will enjoy this season -one game at a time. Coach-keep the guys cool, calm, and collected so they are prepared each step of this wonderful way!!

If this all happens, we'll be ther at the Final 4!! Amen???? AMEN!!
