Do these places not have a checks and balances system?

You'd think because they're sanctioned by the state, the state would require that.

That is the real problem. Yes, she was wrong, but the fact she got by with it for so long indicates that the State doesn't audit diddly squat. What she did is bad, but the State not catching it for 10 years is even worse.

All I want to say is if these offices are run by private contractors, WTH are they not OPEN ON WEEKENDS therefore competitive?

The fee structure is mandated by the state, so they cannot "compete" with other agencies in that manner.

All I want to say is if these offices are run by private contractors, WTH are they not OPEN ON WEEKENDS therefore competitive? It is unnerving to take time off of work to stand in line waiting for the next counter drone.

due to it being a state office, they have to communicate with the state dmv computers, even the voice system doesn't give info after state hours at dmv

This lady has been under contract for 13 years, long before ARRA existed. I'm not against publicizing their religious preference, though.

miseem November 14, 2012 8:41 a.m........You maybe right, but I thought this has been around a lot longer.

You know they should just let her go. I am sure she needed the money and they have plenty of it. We live in the age of Obama no one should be held accountable and if they have the money, she deserved it.

How come so many people on the right keep sying private industry can do the work of government so much better and more efficiently. Privatize, Privatize, Privatize! Then, when a private company gets caught stealing or underperforming, the same group gripes that these private businesses should not be handling "government" work. Of course, we all know that private companies will always act on behalf of the public "ARRA Funding, women and minorities preferred status, and country of origin" not withstanding. Of course, I'm not sure how ARRA got into storchheim's post. This lady has been under contract for 13 years, long before ARRA existed. I'm not against publicizing their religious preference, though.

Whenever a private company is caught ripping off the taxpayers, its ARRA Funding, "women and minorities preferred" status, and country of origin should be disclosed.

"Why is DMV subcontracting to some private owner/business its important functions?! Is this not a predictable, known security risk for people to be able to issue DRIVER'S LICENSES and take money for doing so?"

Oh, don't worry, the DMV will recommend they have additional training so they understand they're not supposed to do this.

"This is just another form of CORRUPTION AND COVER UP....it is all over the country....IF people would just open up their eyes and know when to check on things....so many people are able to get by with so much....especially in the government run agencies...."

This is the result of Affirmative Action. Corruption and incompetence is rampant throughout all government agencies and will continue to get worse.
