What a waste of tax money! I hope those cops had their life vest on and used a lot of m-16 rifles after those dangerous teen aged cartel! For petes sake just make the non violent weed legal and tax it.Probation probation it didn't work for alcohol either! LEGALIZE MARIJUANA NOW

  • T-Man Nov 14, 3:29 p.m.

  • Minarchist Nov 14, 11:55 a.m.

yeah but if they get caught with that Percocet prescription or Xanax, no problem...the doctor gave it to them for anxiety or whatever...just as high, just as dangerous, but acceptable...legal though and I guess by your reasoning doesn't doom the future. Wow.

Like other sheep the only "drugs" that are ok are the ones that go through corporations and government beuraucrats. The "drugs" that grow with a seed and water are the devil. LOL poor poor people.

  • shotgun_willie Nov 14, 8:31 a.m.

What!?!? Teenagers smoking weed at the park! What is this world coming to. Arrest those criminals!!

Good grief. What a waist of time. These kids will probably have to pay a very small fine if anything. But the Cary PD got there headline. Way to go...

  • dwr1964 Nov 13, 5:24 p.m.

Alcohol definitely is more deadlier than weed....free2bme

But it's probably smoking that weed, that caused you to fall asleep in english class.

  • superman Nov 13, 5:04 p.m.

I dont do drugs or alcohol but I would vote for it to be legal. Of course I am still kinda young at 72. Never had a trafice ticket, never had an accident and never even been thru a traffic stop. Never had a parking ticket either. I dont think pot is any worse or better than alcohol.

  • NCAries Nov 13, 4:30 p.m.

I hope you get the picture. These kids have doomed their futures.

Alcohol definitely is more deadlier than weed. I feel bad for these young people who were in school getting an education. I am not saying they were right in what they were doing but the drug laws need to be revised or re-evaluated.

  • wild rover Nov 13, 2:26 p.m.

For those of you clamouring for pot legalization and taxation, please, put your bongs down. If you think for a moment that the legalization and taxation of marijuana will stop drug related crime you grossly underestimate the value of a dollar and the greed that drives the cartels to get it. Stop being so foolishly selfish.

  • wild rover Nov 13, 2:02 p.m.

"And I've never heard of anyone committing a crime or dying under the influence of weed. Can't say the same about alcohol..."

Odd that you have not heard of Rudy Eugene in Florida. You know, the "face-chewer," had no bath salts, just marijuana in his system.

  • jscott13 Nov 13, 1:44 p.m.

I am encouraged that the majority of comments on this page are from well read people who understand that pot does not kill. It is so sad that there are some who still think that traffic accidents can be attributed to marijuana. People, educate yourselves before you comment! I don't know these kids, but if this is the worst thing that they ever do, then they are not a danger to anyone. Marijuana should be legalized. Alcohol is legal and it kills!! Is something wrong with this picture?

  • Its the who what Nov 13, 1:13 p.m.

These two need to face the maximum sentence possible. They need to be locked up just like the drug dealers that you put in jail in Durham!!! Cary is slowing becoming a town of drugs and violence. You do not have to have an intimidating look to be dangerous. When they take these habitual criminals off the street, I WILL feel safe. I hope they are not too much of a drain on my tax dollar.

  • bubbba Nov 13, 8:41 a.m.

    I feel safer.

  • immaannoid Nov 13, 8:06 a.m.

Legalize it and be done. By making drugs illegal, all the US is doing is funding crime organizations.

  • 27615 Nov 13, 8:06 a.m.

Wow what a waste of time and resources! There are millions more people out there doing the same thing and not hurting anybody.

Legalize it!!!! If you don't like don't do it but don't tell me what I can or can't do...and driving high is no where near like driving after drinking...

  • salesman Nov 12, 7:50 p.m.

Three ounces of pot, some baggies and a scale for the big drug bust and seven arrest. You have to be kidding. Hope they didn't waste six months of investigations with an inside informant to catch these criminals. Lets lock them all up for 25 years along with the rapist, killers, thieves, oh... but most of those folks get jail time anyway. Ridicules

  • bubbba Nov 12, 7:10 p.m.

I bet they got gang symbols all over their backs...They look scary.

  • bubbba Nov 12, 7:05 p.m.

By "using", "selling", "buying" etc. they are thumbing their noses at every police officer, DEA, SWAT, Coast Guard, US Military who puts their lives on the line to keep us safe. This is a cause and effect of life. You participate in the use of drugs their are casualities along the way. Our national forest are being distroyed for drugs. Personal lives distroyed. Futures...distroyed. Let's all light up...come on..medical professionals, teachers, ambulance drivers, school bus driver, judges, jurors, lawyers...I hope you get the picture. These kids have doomed their futures.

Actually I spend alot of time hiking in the Mountains in state parks and I go out west on occasions to relax and do a bit of campin. I don't ever recall any dope fields or meth labs running in the streams. I have been chased by some black crows in Yellowstone on my snowmobile. I suppose your right about the park stuff though. It's on TV. And the weed these younguns was smokin p

  • dontstopnow Nov 12, 7:05 p.m.

I think it should be on the ballot in 2 years to legalize....ROFL. Love the responses here on this blog.

  • happymom Nov 12, 7:04 p.m.

I don't recall anything in this story about a kid driving around high on pot. Why is everyone so focused on driving under the influence of marijuana? The story is about buying/selling it. They shouldn't have been doing that because it is illegal. But, really, that's my only objection to it. Marijuana is far less dangerous a drug than alcohol. And I've never heard of anyone committing a crime or dying under the influence of weed. Can't say the same about alcohol...

  • livinginapex Nov 12, 7:00 p.m.

Pay attention, kids. If these young men are convicted they are no longer eligible for federal financial aid. That's a big price to pay for such a stupid mistake.

  • ECO Nov 12, 6:56 p.m.

Another great job busting the pot user. What will they do when it becomes legal ? I guess they will gave to spend more time on more important crimes......

  • bubbba Nov 12, 6:53 p.m.

Seasoned criminals no doubt. I bet they were raking in cash, muggin good citizens, and just generally causin a big ole rucuss of sin. Lets say we shame em and put em in the can a few years and just generally ruin these kids. I put my taxes in that an be proud I'm American. Good thang too they werent drinkin in no cough syrup and snortin no-doze. These guys is sum bad boys!! Now I see their faces on the news I can be sure and watch out for them next time I take my dog for a walk in the park.

  • sthiggs Nov 12, 6:41 p.m.

While everyone should be considered innocent until proven guilty( no public mug shots), this story is important because these kids are suppose to be our teachers, lawyers, doctors, car pool drivers of the future. • Strawberry Letter 23 Beth Wilson Nov 12, 6:40 p.m.

Pot should be legal. 18+ and tax the heck out of it. ;-)

  • due_whats_right Nov 12, 6:33 p.m.

@ BidDog.......I guess it is the same reason why Petreaus' affair is all over the headlines! I guess there is nothing good or worthwhile to report on this Veteran's Day!

  • DukeFan23 Nov 12, 6:20 p.m.

Why is this on the front page of WRAL? These are minor offenses. A lot more people are arrested daily for more serious drug offenses.

  • Rebelyell55 Nov 12, 6:12 p.m.

Well that will sure put a kink in the drug cartel's flow of money. ( Unless of course if it was grown here).

  • due_whats_right Nov 12, 6:01 p.m.

While you think this is just dope or harmless, please understand that what we thought was "bud" from back in the day is not what they smoke today. This starts off natural but is then laced with other ingredients to increase the high. Joints are often soaked in formaldehyde (harmless, huh?) God forbid if this is sold to someone already on high power meds - which is what school administrators have do deal with on a regular. A student coming to school high on marijuana with other gunk in their system is a sign of disaster. It's not the "Mary Jane" of our days. And legalizing it won't make it any better, just less work for the popo. If you don't know, now you know.

  • Unfair Moderators Stink Nov 12, 5:56 p.m.

Those of you who think CPD is wasting time and resources and tax dollars enforcing the law wouldn't be so in favor of them looking the other way if these kids got lit and got behind the wheel of a car and caused property damage or worse because they had no business driving. The CPD is paid to enforce the law and for now (and probably forever in these parts) possession and intent to distribute are against the law.

  • Scubagirl Nov 12, 5:55 p.m.

LEGALIZE IT AND BE DONE WITH THIS!!! Sooooooo many smoke pot today this is just crazy.......

" but it DOES impair your judgement to operate a motor vehicle as alcohol or any other substance does.. Coach K...."

Why yes it does, but not in the same way. If I had to choose which to get in a car with-drunk or pothead-pothead would win every single time. Drunks speed, stoners barely go the speed limit

  • kjackson47 Nov 12, 5:46 p.m.

pot grows naturaly makes you hungry and its illegal
alcohol is manmade gets you drunk and is legal.

  • Coach K is still GREAT Nov 12, 5:39 p.m.

those poor kids. it's just pot. it would seem the cary police would better serve the public by focussing on real crime. this is just ridiculous.

    cookie998

God forbid that someone that buys from these guys... or anyone else... were to get behind the wheel of a car and kill any of your loved ones... it may be "just pot"... but it DOES impair your judgement to operate a motor vehicle as alcohol or any other substance does...

  • cookie998 Nov 12, 5:20 p.m.

  • Quagmire Nov 12, 5:15 p.m.

Can't do the time, don't do the crime.

  • Gork Nov 12, 5:15 p.m.

Should we all sleep more soundly tonight since our brave first responders have removed these dangerous criminals from the streets? Idiocy - not to mention a waste of resources.

  • westernwake1 Nov 12, 5:14 p.m.

This is why they call it 'dope'.

  • The Pride of Africa Nov 12, 4:53 p.m.

Who cares about marijuana? The US is bombing civilians in the middle east. There is a massive fiscal crisis. They're about to start a war with Iran. We're borrowing billions of dollars from China. Are any of those felonies?
