"So piene2....you mean to tell me if you have kids you would be perfectly fine if a neighbor committed these crimes and only got a $1500 bail and was sitting on their front porch within a couple hours time. 4DukeTillDeath"

Well considering that your question is meaningless since we are not talking about a convicted criminal and because I know that many people are accused of crimes and are often found not guilty I would have no problem at all with them sitting on their front porch or for that matter, sitting on my front porch.

"I don't think it's so difficult to understand that bail/bond is not punitive. But $1500 bail is a joke! Make it harder for the bail/bond to come by, by increasing the amount. The implications/condescending tone that all the folks commenting are unable to grasp the concept and therefore needed you to break it down for them is a bit over the top. relay4life4acure"

Not over the top at all. As a matter of fact I believe my explanation is still a bit too hard for some to grasp so how about a bit more simplification? They not yet find guilt so they not more guilt than you or me. No keep no guilt in jail till trial. Trial than guilt or no guilt. I do not think I can find easier words than that.

I wonder why the Mom's other kids were taken from her?

There is alot more to the story but the mods will not let us share because the details haven't been "officially" released to the public yet. I keep hearing the mom ask "why" to alot of things in the video. If you truly knew and completely trusted the person you dropped your kids off with then you should have also known she had a major habit and was not fit to keep any children. I'm sure she didn't know something this horrible would happen but parents need to use better judgement.

yes wakemom.......if you're going to say you know more, then you should share.....

" She made her $1,500 bond and was back at home Monday."

Then IT WASN'T HIGH ENOUGH!!! If she truly did this to this child she does not NEED to be 'at home' she needs to be locked up somewhere.

So piene2....you mean to tell me if you have kids you would be perfectly fine if a neighbor committed these crimes and only got a $1500 bail and was sitting on their front porch within a couple hours time. That bail is a complete joke considering all that little girl went through. And WRAL hasn't released any of the horrible details. This is Shinaya Davis all over again except the girl lived.

She has two different dates for child abuse...one for the felony and one for a misd. child abuse

I don't think it's so difficult to understand that bail/bond is not punitive. But $1500 bail is a joke! Make it harder for the bail/bond to come by, by increasing the amount. The implications/condescending tone that all the folks commenting are unable to grasp the concept and therefore needed you to break it down for them is a bit over the top.

"Wait a minute $1500.00 bond? You can't be serious, we're talking about a 2yr old child here! prettylady07"

How many times are people here going to have to be told that bail/bond is not punitive! Bail/bond is to insure the subject's appearance in court, not to punish him or her?

"In general, an individual accused of a crime must be held in the custody of the court until his or her guilt or innocence is determined. However, the court has the option of releasing the individual before that determination is made, and this option is called bail. Bail is set by the judge during the defendant's first appearance. For many misdemeanors, bail need not be set. For example, the defendant may be released on the issuance of a citation such as a ticket for a driving violation or when booked for a minor misdemeanor at a police station or jail. But for major misdemeanors and felonies, the defendant must appear before a judge before bail is determined."

Is that so difficult to understand?
